Flashback : Aidan, 16 months ago….
I was looking at some old photos taken in 2008…and can’t believe how time freaking flies ok!…Ya i know, I’ve said this so many times in my blog but I can’t help feeling this way especially when I look back and see how small the kiddos used to be…Here are some of the photos taken in Sept 08 when Aidan was 1y 4mo. (He’s now 2y 8mo)

Photo taken at the KLCC playground…..

He was laughing at Sydney…

This was taken during our Heavenly holiday at Langkawi
On our last day at Langkawi..
(this holiday post is getting abit tiring…luckily we only spent 2 nights 3 days away….otherwise my holiday post will take more than a month to complete!)
….we didn’t do any touristy thing. We slept in on the last day on the Heavenly bed. The bed was indeed heavenly - only if the kids were sleeping on their own beds - which they didn’t. Aidan refused to sleep in his Heavenly cot. So all the 4 of us ended up sleeping on 1 king sized bed! The kids had the best sleep ever while Hubs and I had hardly any space left on the bed!

(28 Sept 09) - A view of the sea from the hotel lobby. On the right are complimentary fruit juices for the hotel guests.

On our way to the airport, we stopped by the Royal Langkawi Yacht Club to take some pictures. After taking a few snaps of the yachts (everyone was waiting in the car for me!), we headed to the airport.

Thank God Aidan was ok sitting in his own stroller. As for Ashley, she had fun on her Trunki. We basically wheeled her around the airport (while she sat on the Trunki) and she was so so thrilled by it! When I was first introduced to Trunki, I couldn’t resist not getting it after that although we didn’t have any trips planned then. Makes you wonder whether the Trunki is actually for Ashley or for mommy eh?
Anyways…we checked in early and spent our time at The Westin Lounge at the boarding hall.

Again…they had complimentary drinks for us - which Ashley was so eager to serve us with…
There was a nice place to sit and relax, a massage corner, some PCs available if you’d like to pay to access the internet, and its own washroom (instead of using the airport’s yucky toilets)

Me and the kids…

As usual, our AirAsia flight was delayed…so we had to wait…….till Aidan fell asleep on Hubs!
Ashley striking a pose for me before she went back to stare at 2 ladies who were busy sorting out their junk in their handbags…
So that’s it! A nice short break for the whole family…
Next holiday? It would have to be Scuba Diving holiday! I didn’t manage to go diving this year (1st time in YEARS!)….I plan to do a super awesome dive trip next year! Let’s hope that will become a reality.
Day 2 - Heavenly Holiday
On day 2 (27 Sept 08), we decided to go for the Cable Car ride. We drove to the Base Station which was located at the Oriental Village at the foot hill of the Machincang mountain range. We hung around abit at the Oriental Village before getting on to the cable car. It has been a long time since I got on a cable car and it was the first time for the kids so it was pretty exciting. The ride up to the Middle Station and subsequently to the Top Station was nice and smooth. We could feel the cool breeze on the way up and the view was indeed spectacular.

Above is a picture of the Base Station when we were on the way up.

The view from the base station.

Got Ashley to pose a bit here and there….

When we got back down to the Base Station, we decided to go to the little farm beside the Base Station. There were deers and rabbits running about and we bought some deer and rabbit food to let the kids have a bit of fun with the animals. Aidan was fearless. He tried to catch the rabbits and kept patting the deers - pulled the deer’s tail even. Ashley on the other hand was scared of the deers and rabbits initially..but towards the end, she warmed up to the rabbits.

The lil rabbit hiding from Aidan…Look at that cheeky smile on Aidan’s face…

Aidan trying to catch ‘em rabbits…

He grabbed the rabbit’s ear and after that sucked his thumb!

Aidan enjoyed feeding the deers. Ashley on the other hand just stood and watched from afar.

Both Aidan and Ashley were trying to persuade the lil rabbit to come out from under the bench.

After our Cable Car trip, we headed back to the hotel and spent time by the pool… …
We decided to have dinner at the hotel that night and we were kinda disappointed with the quality of the food and the price they charged us. Nevertheless, the entire heavenly experience was very refreshing. I’ll post more pictures up later….
Day 1 - Heavenly Holiday

Credits here.
Just before the Hari Raya break, we decided to go on a short break to Langkawi. There were several trigger points to this break :
1. I had to redeem all of my AMEX reward point by end the of Sept 2008 otherwise they’d be gone and lost forever…
2. Yvonne blogged about their heavenly holiday at the Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa - and I couldn’t resist it
3. Work-wise, I managed to come up from beneath the water for some fresh air and thought that a holiday is long overdue - considering the fact that we have NOT gone on our annual scuba diving trip..bleh!
So yea……I got us all sorted out for a short vacation and was so looking forward to it. I kept telling Ashley that we were going to Langkawi by a plane and she said.” Ok..and helicopter too ok?” *roll eye*
So on Friday morning (26 Sept 08), we all took a morning flight via Air Asia to Langkawi. To avoid having to rush to line up to board the plane and what not, we chose express boarding instead so that it would be less stressful for us. (Still don’t understand why families with kids don’t get priority while boarding the plane. Isn’t this so very very basic?)

The kids were getting restless waiting while we were at the boarding hall.

This Lil Taukeh was getting very very restless and manja…..At the time I took this picture, he wanted me to carry him….

..and Ashley managed to entertain herself when she saw another family with a baby, waiting, just like us, to board the plane…
The flight took about an hour. During the entire journey, Aidan was wriggling about like a worm and Ashley was entertained with her colouring books. We arrived at the airport, collected our bags and rented a Toyota Vios for RM50 per day. And then off we went and headed for the hotel….

When we arrived at the Heavenly Hotel (everything is called Heavenly at the Westin..), the Lil Taukeh couldn’t resist playing with the cordless phone!

Before leaving the hotel for our lil excursion, we decided to hang around at the Breeze Lounge.

First stop - we headed to KFC for our late lunch at the Jetty Point. While we were devouring our KFC chickens, Aidan was contented with eating cornflakes. (He had already had his porridge then)

After lunch, we headed to the Langkawi Wildlife Park. Since we are Malaysian, we paid half the price that was listed. We bought some bird food and managed to feed them birds….Aidan was fearless and Ashley was the total opposite. She was scared of this that and the other. She was very much a scaredy cat.
I must say that I was pretty impressed with the Wildlife Park. The place was well maintained and the kids were very much entertained. This place exceeded our expectations.

While Hubs and Ashley were busy feeding the birds…..Aidan was in a world of his own…he was trying to catch the birds with one thumb in his mouth (and no, we are not doing anything to stop him from sucking his thumb…)

Emu

Vulture…doesn’t this fellow look nasty???

Terapins…

Brahminy Kite
After the Langkawi Wildlife Park…we drove around the island and then headed back to the hotel so that the kids could have some fun at the pool & beach…

For dinner, one of the hotel staff recommended us to eat at a simple chinese restaurant called Wonderland. Price was reasonable and food was good. We walloped everything! After dnner, we headed back to the hotel to wind down….
boring chicken…
We had a Heavenly holiday last weekend at Langkawi with the kids. (Will post about our Heavenly holiday once I download my pictures from my camera to my notebook) When it came to swimming, we were all set - except for Ashley. She refused to go into the pool on her own when she wore one of more of the following :
- Floaties armband
- Floaties swim ring
This really confused me cause a year ago when she was 2y 4mo, she insisted for me to let her go so that she can swim in the adult pool on her own with the arm bands. Now, the only time is comfortable in the pool is when she is in the Floaties swim seat. Hubs called her a boring chicken (LOL!) when Ashley refused to let go of him in the pool when she was wearing her arm floaties or swim jacket.
When we got back from our holiday, we asked Ashley who was the boring chicken at the pool and she replied, “AIDAN!”
Anyone has any ideas how we can help her learn to gain confidence in the pool at least with the arm bands or swim jacket?
