our neighbour complained about sydney…
Posted on September 22, 2007
So last night, my kwai lo neighbour walked over to my house, rang the bell in the evening while I was tending to Aidan who was crying getting a bit cranky that time…..
neighbour : ding dong!
me : hi!
neighbour : I would like to make a complain
me : huh?
neighbour : It’s Sydney. She barks ALL the time - in the morning, day and nights. When you’re not around she barks alot and when you come back, she’s better. You know it’s not nice that she’s barking all the time in this quiet neighbourhood.
me : (stunned! I wasn’t prepared for this…) Ya but Sydney would not bark at NOTHING!??
neighbour : YES! She’d bark and bark and when we come over to see her, she’d be quiet. And when we leave, she’d bark again!
me : (my mind was racing…Sydney won’t bark at NOTHING! Sydney keeps us safe. There are no neighbours with dogs in our street. Sydney’s more efficient than the damn security guard who sleeps by the booth overnight! I was speechless!)
Aidan’s cry was getting louder and louder from the inside….
me : Ok hang on….My baby is crying inside…(and I ran in)
Before I could reach the front door, my neighbour said
neighbour : I hope you can look into it. Bye!
I was like WTF? I the hell you want me to do? De-bark her? Get rid of her? After that, I regretted for not saying many things like :
- Sydney keeps us all safe
- She’d not bark at the sky! but she barks at strangers, the postman, the delivery man, basically ALL strangers EXCEPT at our nrighbours!
- She’d bark at passing CATS! (One of our neighbours has a couple of FURR BALLS loitering the streets…)
- She’d bark at the birds eating her food! and the dogs which are being walked by their owners when they pass our house
So many things I could have said but damn! I wasn’t prepared for that confrontation!

errr…there must be soemthing that makes him disturbed rite…..she’s not any paria dog that simply bark..
It’s a bummer that your neighbour complained about Sydney. Alot of people misunderstand dogs (even I did, when i was younger and muc more afraid of them).
And to jazzmint, I have a *paria* (dog) but again, dogs usually don’t bark at random. (Being defensive here. Haha.. we got her from SPCA when she was a newborn)
