obssessed with Ben 10
Posted on June 29, 2010

Aidan has been obssessed with Ben 10 lately. We only have 1 Ben 10 DVD at home but I reckon it’s from the influence from his classmates that he has suddenly taken a liking towards Ben 10. He has 3 Ben 10 watches at home and he loves to wear it ALL the time!
There are some special effects that comes with the watch he gets such a kick from pressing the buttons on them.
They are no Ulysse Nardin but the Ben 10 watches are his favourite lot of watches.
Boys WILL be boys!

I’m back - finally
Posted on June 29, 2010

I’m now in a post holiday withdrawal mode.
Missing the laid back beach/dive holiday.
Missing the all-girls shopping trip with my girl friends.
And I miss being able to sleep without having 2 kids as alarm clocks
Being in the city all the time, I often wish that the beach was a 15-min drive away from here where I can lay down on a hammock under some trees or just laze on some outdoor pillows by the beach.
As much as I miss going on a holiday with out the kids, I also do miss the kids dearly when I am away
It’s tough being a parent huh?

Another short getaway …
Posted on June 24, 2010

(Photo taken on 20 June 2010 @ Tioman Island)
I will be on a break. Yes. I am going on another short getaway, this time with my girlfriends.
I ran it through the kids that i will be away.
Ashley was fine. Good.
The first thing Aidan asked me when I told him that I was going to be away was, “Daddy? Daddy follow?”
Me : No. Daddy will stay here with Aidan and Ashley
Aidan : Ok
Me : Can Daddy follow Mommy?
Aidan : No.
So as long as the daddy is around, he should be fine. At least I don’t feel so heartbroken to know that he is pinning for his mom. I’m flattered though but heartbroken that he missed me so much when Hubs and I were away during our last trip till he didn’t want to go upstairs to the bedroom to sleep nor play. He stayed downstairs for 3 nights 2 days, waiting for me to come back home. Mommy’s boy this one.
Anyway, have a good weekend!!!

welcoming grandma and grandpa
Posted on June 23, 2010
My parents came over last thursday before our dive trip. They arrived in the afternoon but in the morning, Ashley was constantly asking when grandma and grandpa would arrive, So to keep them off my backs allergy relief while I work, occupy them, I asked them to make a card for their grandma and grandpa.
So off they went to make a card for each grandparent.

They were supposed to come up with 4 cards altogether but somehow, Ashley ended up making a card for grandma and Aidan made a card for grandpa.
Grandma’s card had hearts and teapots on them.
Grandpa’s card was a Ben-10 inspired card - courtesy of the Lil Taukeh aka Aidan.

the battle for mommy’s iPhone
Posted on June 23, 2010
Every single day, my kids hog my iPhone and since we only have one in the house, the kids usually fight for it. Soooometimes, they’d share but most of the time, they’d fight for it (which drives me crazyyyy! and both of them get to use my iPhone). What’s so interesting about my iPhone? Ashley loves to watch YouTube videos on my phone - on crafting, baking (search for howdiniguru in YouTube) and also likes to watch fairy tales on YouTube (search for rajshri on YouTube). I’ve also downloaded some Leapfrog videos and a couple of cartoons onto the iPhone so they like to watch those too. Aidan’s current favourite is the Leapfrog videos which I recently downloaded onto the iPhone. When the kids are bored with those, they like to play the applications which I downloaded for them. With the kids always hogging my iPhone, I made sure I got the non-slip cover for the phone so that the phone does not slip out of their hands so easily. There are other iphone accessories which I am also eyeing for but first, I am contemplating in getting the iPhone4. What do you think?

On a good day, Ashley gets to use my phone without much inteference from Aidan. Notice the toy cars behind her? Aidan was contented playing with his cars then.

vacation mode
Posted on June 23, 2010
After out last dive trip, I’m so in the mood to plan for another vacation. i find these little vacations (without the kids), no matter how short they are, are so refreshing and energizing. Perhaps I should check out the internet for Branson Missouri vacation packages. It’s always nice having a vacation to look forward to, don’t you think so?
P/S Ashley, Aidan, when you are old enough to read this - it’s not that we are trying to get as far away as possible from you yea. Sometimes, Mommy and Daddy needs a break too ok? ![]()

let’s skip day 7-9 and go right to day 10 of the school holidays!
Posted on June 22, 2010
ok, ok, I must admit that I was looking forward to our scuba diving trip on day 10
My parents came over to KL the day before so that they could babysit the kids while Hubs and I go away for our scuba diving trip to Tioman Island with friends. The weather was perfect - unlike our last trip. With sun, sea, sand and friends, the getaway was fabulous! I thoroughly enjoyed ouor holiday!
Day 1, 17 June 2010, Thursday
We left KL for Tg Gemok at about 8.30pm and thank God for the GPS, we managed to find our way to Tg Gemok. We arrived at the motel we planned to stay for a night in 4 hours.
Day 2, 18 June 2010, Friday
Our ferry boat was scheduled to depart at 9.30pm and thankfully, they were on time!

Tg Gemok, Jetty, Rompin
We took the ferry boat from Tg Gemok to Tekek, Tioman which took us 1.5 hours. The sea was nice and calm.
By the time we arrived at Tekek, Tioman, the weather was perrrfect!

The yacht parked at the marina at Tekek. I likeeee!

We did 2 dives on friday.
1st dive - Tiger Reef
2nd dive - Labas

Puffer Fish

baby barracudas

Moray Eel

Can you spot the Stone Fish? This fish can camouflage itself to a grey and mottled color similar to the color of a stone. The Stonefishes is known to be the most venomous fish in the world - so you wouldn’t want to simply touch when you’re scuba diving underwater.

This is a nudibrance - sea slug. Isn’t it pretty?
Day 2, 19 June 2010, Saturday
3rd dive - Cebeh
4th dive - Malang Rock
5th dive - Golden Reef

Getting ready for our dives……

off we go to Cebeh!

Divers backrolling into the water one by one for our 1st dive of the day….

This photo of the clown fish is specially taken for the kids.

Yup! We gotta pull ourselves up the boat minus the weight belt and fins.

Somemore nudibranches

A turtle having its breakfast. It was so busy eating that it didn’t bother about the photographer.

Moi!

One thing I love about these trips are the sunsets!!!

We went to Sunset Corner at Batang Air so that the guys could watch the World Cup on the projected screen on the beach while having dinner and drinks. The pizzas were YUMMYLICIOUS!!! Had them with the garlic oil and chilli they prepared. YUM!!!!

It was really nice lazing around by the beach at nights, under the moonlight. I figured we need to go for this kind of breaks without the kids every now and then to recharge ourselves.
Day 3, 20 June 2010, Sunday
Holiday is over. Sadly.
Although the corals were bleached due to the rise in water temperature of the sea and the corals were dying and we didn’t get to see much underwater, I so welcome the getaway!
But I was looking forward to see the kids.
Ashley was fine but Aidan missed me so much! He refused to go upstairs. He only wanted to sleep at the living room at home with Tini and kept waking up at nights to watch TV while waiting for me to come back from the trip. Poor boy. According to my dad, Aidan gave Tini specific instructions only to wake him up when I get back. I was touched and at the same time, I pitied my boy!

day 6 - school holidays
Posted on June 14, 2010
On day 6 of their school holiday, which is today (weekends excluded), I didn’t have anything planned for them. I just went with the flow. Ashley has been watching alot of YouTube videos on by Betty Crocker kitchens by Howdini.com (just search for howdiniguru on YouTube) and she has been learning alot about frosting cakes/cupcakes, decorating cookies and such. She has also been watching at alot of how-to videos on beading. This morning, she requested to do a show-and-tell video. She wanted to show off her collection of beads.

The photo above was taken while the kids were doing the show-and-tell video on my messy beading desk (which needs a major makeover!). Notice my camera in front of Ashley? The recording was on and they were being filmed so to speak. Ashley was showing off her beads in the blue box and then Aidan decided that he wanted in on the show-and-tell video too.

This picture of Aidan was taken at the moment after he saw Ashley did something (I forgot what it was) and he exclaimed, “Oh.My.God! Mommy Look (at) cheh-cheh!”

While Aidan took his nap after lunch, Ashley enjoyed playing on her own. She was sorting her beads and transferring them from one container to the other. She also did a couple more show-and-tell videos on her own.

Ashley’s collection of plastic beads.
And since Ashley is into baking, I thought maybe I should buy some Betty Crocker cookie/cupcake doughs and then have the kids decorate the cookie/cupcake together. It’d be fun. Plus I think I have developed a sweet tooth! I have been craving for cookies and cupcakes these days. (No, I am not preggers if you’re wondering).
Check this video out. Something i think the kids would enjoy doing.

and by day 5 of school holidays…
Posted on June 12, 2010

12 June 2010 - Ashley @ 5y 10d
…I pretty much ran out of ideas to keep the 2 kids occupied!
They played together.
They laughed.
They cried.
They were constantly at loggerheads with one another which drives me absolutely MAD!!!!
My rule is that if they want to stay in the study room with me while I work, they will need to keep the noise level down especially if I am in a conference call.
But nooooo…
They constantly bickered.
I am to blame as well as since I didn’t have a plan for them as well.
I sent them out of the room a couple of times when they quarrelled in my study room and wished that the school break was a week instead of 2 cause I’m now at a lost at what I will have them do next week. I feel guilty for feeling that way but hey! I am no saint. Hate myself for feeling that way but I do feel that way at times - times when I feel like pulling my hair out.
That said, I got to get cracking on what to do with the kids next week.
Any ideas?
P/S Oh and check out here what Shannon got for Ashley for her birthday.

day 4 - school holidays - How to prevent the kids from destroying the memory foam mattresses in the house…
Posted on June 12, 2010
Day 4 was easier cause my sis dropped Aaron off at our house in the morning for 1/2 day. So the kids played together, watched Toy Story cartoon and were merry together. Thank God they didn’t jump on our memory foam mattresses which have memory foam toppers on them.
In the afternoon, we mobilized the whole troop and drove over to my sister’s place for the afternoon. I worked from there while the kids played with new toys (Aaron’s toys) and also swam to their hearts content at the pool. To top that, after dinner, we brought the kids to an indoor playground. Unfortunately for Aidan though, he slept (for the night) in the car before we reached the mall (7pm) so he didn’t get a chance to play at the indoor playground. Ashley and Aaron however played for another 1.5 hrs at the indoor playground! They chased each other, climbed up and down, slid down the slide, crawled through tunnels and jumped on trampolines which is way better substitute for memory foam matresses.
At the end of the day, the kids throughly enjoyed themselves and slept in the car on the way back home
P/S No photos posted for day 4 as I shot them in raw and I haven’t am too lazy to converted them yet into jpg format.
