8 April 2010 - The kids causing havoc in our bedroom
When the kids are left to play alone in our bedroom, all hell breaks loose. They would take out anything and everything and start playing pretend. The picture below is the tip of an iceberg. They dumped everything they could find onto the floor of our walk-in wardrobe and pretended to make a bonfire!

The hardest part (for them anyways) is to get them to clean up the mess cause Ashley would try to give all kinds of excuses to avoid having to clean up the mess but I’d make them to do it anyways. That’s one thing I have been drilling into the kids. If they don’t clean up after their play, I’d threaten them that their things would end up in the dustbin and that always works. Speaking of things, we were sorting our our life insurance the other day and then Ashley said to me, ” Mommy when you die, I want your earrings ok?” @_@

16 April 2010 - Aidan chillin’ out with his cars

One of the joys of having 2 kids is the joy of discovering that each of your kid has his/her own personality and traits. While Ashley loves all thngs princessy (which I think is the case for most girls that I know), Aidan loves his toy mobiles. He has a basket full of them and it’s with him wherever he is in the house. Everyday, he’d run the cars on the edge of our bed and slowly park them, Once they are all parked together, he’d move the cars one by one to the other end of the bed and while he is at it, he is in deep concentration - which makes me wonder what is going on in that head of his. The bedsheet on the bed has to be absolutely smooth/straightened otherwise he’d make a BIG fuss out of it - he’d whine and whine like a broken record even after we’ve straightened it. He’s long winded and sometimes I think he has OCD.
Apart from his cars, he loves to swim! We’ve been swimming so much these days until we had to take proper measures on exposed skin care to ensure that our skin is not damaged by UVA, UVB and the chlorine.

diaperless @ school
Posted on April 27, 2010
7 April 2010 - Aidan @ 2y 11m
Eversince Aidan started potty training, he has been using underwear at home and we always let him wear a diaper when he sleeps at night, when he goes to school or when we all go out. I am proud to say though that as of last thursday, my boy is diaperless when he goes to school. It is a huge milestone for him and he’s very proud to be going to the loo to pee with the rest of his classmates. Now, it’s a matter of time before he is weaned off the diapers at night and as for going out, I think it’s us adults who have to be prepared to bring him to the loo each time he wants to pee. Anyway, hurray! for Aidan. One worry less for us. I’ll be less of a worry-wort and don’t need acne vitamin to prevent any stress acne from breaking out.

smelly?
Posted on April 27, 2010
Imagine this.
Last night, when the lights were out, I was on the bed in between Ashley and Aidan. I laid down with them while they go to sleep.
Ashley had already slept. Aidan was still fidgetting around quietly.
I was checking my tweets on my phone.
All of a sudden, Aidan asked me to smell his hand.
Aidan : Smelly? Mommy, smelly?
I was abit suspicious.
Me : Where did you put your hand before this?
Aidan : (proudly announces) bum bum!
I could see his dimpled-cheed grin in the dark.
Aidan : smelly? (and he shoved his hand to my nose)
Me : Yeeeeeee!
No there was no poop. His had just smelled of his bum bum. @_@
The things we have to go through when they have their own National Geographic moments. It really keeps us on our toes and surely beats any weight loss supplements.

on rainy days…
Posted on April 21, 2010

(Pictures taken on 7 April 2010)
On rainy days when the kids can neither go to the playground nor go for a swim, we just hang around outside of our house under the shade. This is so that the kids don’t feel so couped up in the house all day. Yesterday evening was one of those days. It rained just as we were about to walk out of the house and so we stayed outside of the house but under a shade. Then, Ashley made Aidan and I sit on our outdoor furniture like audiences witnessing a play/performance while she slipped into her princess shoes and started dancing for us. She even warned us that when she struck a certain pose, that that would signify the end of her performance and we had to clap our hands. It doesn’t take much to make the kids happy. The simplest things in life which costs nothing can bring as much joy to kids than the most expensive thing in the world. That’s what I like about kids. They’re so simple-minded unlike adults.

Ashley : Mommy, why did you name me Ashley? I now want my name to be Sophia
Ooohh…this sounded so familiar cause when I was 7-8yo, I remember asking my mom the same thing! except that I wanted to be called Sandy after watching Grease a gazillion times.
Ashley : From now on, I want everyone at home to call me Sophia. Only my teacher in school can call me Ashley. ok?
Me : ok. You better tell Kakak about this as well.
Ashley : Kakak? Panggil saya Sophia ok
Kakak : Ok Sophia.

Aidan at 2y 11m

27 Mar 2010 - Taken at Sunway Lagoon
As I look back on all the photos that I’ve taken thus far, I can’t help but smile at this photo. This was taken recently at Sunway Lagoon. This photo screeeams L.O.V.E - at that moment - and I say that cause these 2 are always at loggerheads!! But at that moment the photo was taken, I can’t help but notice that from the way they hugged each other, they were happy to be together. I love the way Aidan was looking at his sister - adoringly.
His Superhero Power
Happy times aside, I must say that these 2 do have their fair share of sibling rivalry. Being the youngest in the family, Aidan’s smart to catch on that he can get away with many things. But I guess he can’t fool us now. The Little Taukeh do know more than what he thinks we know. He always wants whatever Ashley has and if he doesn’t get it his way, he can cry for 40 mins non-stop! Even the cold hearted will go soft on the knees and beg him to stop crying to prevent from going deaf and insane. I guess he knows that that is his superhero power! These days, we just let him cry it out until he’s done and raise the white flag.
Diet
I must say that we are blessed that Aidan is a good eater. He’s a bit picky when it comes to milk but overall, I think he’s ok.
He drinks about 18oz of milk a day, eats solids for meals and snacks in between.
He loves fruits especially grapes and watermelon.
He loves yoghurt, vitagen and Mamee!
He loves cod liver oil! (blech!)
He loves his vitamins!
He loves to take medicine - more so if it’s not his! I think it’s the cheap thrill he’s after!
Potty Training
Eversince we started potty training him last year, he’s been off diapers during the day at home. We do put on a diaper on him before he goes to bed at nights, when he goes to school and when we go out. I did ask him one night whether he wanted to sleep in his underwear at night and he said, “Afterwards wet bed how?” Overall, he is much better in controlling his bladder compared to Ashley. He hardly every wet his underwear at home and if he ever does wet himself, he’d say to me apologetically, “mommy? Aidan wet panty. Sorry mommy. Aidan cannot tahan.” (He refers to his underwear at panty cause his sister does :S)
Languange
Aidan can string up a few words to make a sentence. His pronumciation may not be all that clear but he’s getting there. That imperfection makes him even more adorable when he speaks (to me anyways). He’d say things like :
- Aidan scared. Very deep! (referring to the deep end of the pool)
- Aidan take Melissa’s hair (he played with his classmates hair at school!)
- Adam push(ed) Aidan. Aidan bite Adam :S
He’s definitely learnt alot of new nursery rhymes thanks to school!:) He really enjoys going to school and has NO qualms whatsoever now. In fact, we’ve stopped walking him to his classroom for a couple of months now. We’d drop him and Ashley off at the school entrance and Ashley would walk him to his classroom
There ya go big sis!
Swimming
Ever since we joined a club, our daily visits to the playground have been substituted with swimming at the club! Aidan enjoys playing at the wading pool and hasn’t summoned the courage of going into the deeper end with his arm floaties. I guess it’s only a matter of time before he gains confidence in the water.
Animal Lover
Aidan is definitely an animal lover! I guess growing up with Sydney has given Aidan the impression that all animals are like Sydney - very forgiving, always giving in into him. He’d approach other dogs and cats as though they were like Sydney!
It’s been ages since I last wrote his development milestone and i feel so guilty about it cause I never failed to write a development milestone post for Ashley. Anyhow, here’s one for my lil taukeh.
Happy 2y 11m! I can’t believe you’re gonna be 3 next month! which reminds me! I gotta plan for your birthday!

motherhood is tiring to the eyes
Posted on April 8, 2010
Age is catching up. My eyes look oh-so tired. Before I had kids, I had monolids and I’d usually have temporary double eye lids when I didn’t have enough sleep. After giving birth to Ashley, my monolids evolved to PERMANENT double eye lids. I kid you not. What does that tell you? It means that motherhood has taken it’s toll on my eyes. They look so sleepy and tired now. I haven’t found the best eye cream yet to make them look less tired but if you do, let me know!

bald spot!
Posted on April 8, 2010
I woke up this morning, looked into the bathroom mirror and noticed that i have a bald spot on my head the size of a 1 cent coin. I reckon it must have just happened because I WOULD have noticed this before. Plus I had my hair trimmed on saturday and the hairdresser would have said something if I had a bald spot. Annnnyway, so I googled and tried to find out why I am having a bald spot on my head! There could be several reasons and I have also been doing some research on the type of treatment that i could go for IF i were to find more bald spots or if the existing one gets bigger. *fingers and toes crossed!* Anyhow, I will definitely be looking at alot of reviews on the ways that it can be treated before I go for one. Similarly, before seeking treatments for anything in general, you should do your own homework like find what side effects could a treatment pose to you e.g. accutane side effects for acne-proned individuals.

blessed
Posted on April 8, 2010
I’m blessed with a relatively good facial skin. I am not acne proned and don’t break out in zits - so far. *fingers crossed* But I do know of some people who have lived with acne for a very long time. There are alot of acne treatments out there in the market e.g. exposed acne solution. My advise is before committing to one, always do your homework and check out the reviews.
