i want to break free…

The kids seem to have lots and lots of energy, waiting to be used up each day. Most of the time, the kids are like everlasting batteries which are constantly being charged up. One of the ways we get the kids to channel their energies to is to bring them to the playground in the evenings so they can let loose those pent-up energy in them.
(15 may 09) - The kids having fun at the playground.
I reckon it’s better letting them loose at the playground as opposed to crowded areas such as the malls. We’d be spending half the time chasing after them which would be a natural weight loss program for us parents.

Mr Copy Cat

(15 May 09 ) - the boy and his cars
Aidan is quite the copy cat. Upon seeing Ashley going into the kitchen to get herself a glass of water, he’d dash into the kitchen whenever the child safety gate between our dining hall and kitchen is open. He’d get himself a plastic cup, dispense some water into the cup, take a sip or two and then he’d dump the cup into the kitchen sink! And then he’d take another plastic cup, dispense some water into it, take a sip or two of water and then he’d dump the cup into the sink again. We have 2 kitchen sinks side by side and if he’s left alone for period of time, the sink will be filled with multi-colored plastic cups!!

splish splash

Whenever the weather and the kids’ health permits, we would bring the kids over to my sister’s place for a swim.
3 months ago, Aidan was very confident in the water with the arm floaties. He’d even want to jump into the pool by himself! However recently, he has been quite afraid of the water. Although he had his arm floaties on, he didn’t want to let go of us. So much for me getting my much needed exercise by swimming laps in the pool and looks like I have to read up on phenphedrine reviews after all.
Anyway, back to Aidan - He even got out of the pool earlier than expected and started to walk back towards the apartment.
(14 June 09)
We thought that it was the coldness of the water which repelled him from wanting to swim so we bought him a swim suit (as opposed to only using a swim diaper) and brought him for a swim again and he was still not confident to be left alone in the pool with his arm floaties. He clung to us like a koala bear!!!
(12 July 09) I must admit that I really like looking at him in his swim suit
(12 July 09)
As for Ashley, she has finally grown tall enough to stand in the children’s pool with her head above the water and just last month, she surprised us by floating in the adult’s pool on her own with only the arm floaties (she used to not want to let go of us when she had the arm floaties on). So hurray for Ashley!

the things he says
Posted on July 31, 2009
I really enjoy listening to what Aidan has to say these days because he has picked up so many words which enable him to better express himself.
Spot the Vehicles
Whenever we are on the road, he’d sit up straight in his car seat and is usually very alert - looking out of the window. The moment he spots buses or trucks or heavy machineries, he’d shout of excitement and say “Lorry!!!!!!!! Long lorry!”
“Digger!!!! Big digger!”
“kim!!!!!” (crane)
I got a feeling he is going to grow up into a car lover and would have lots of auto insurance quotes coming his way.
What?
Me : Aidannnnnnn?????
Aidan : Whaaaaatt? (in a very innocent way) Whattttt Mommy????
He loves his vitamins
Without fail, after every meal, he’d ask for Cod Liver Oil (the orginal yucky one). I never liked to take this when I was a kid but surprising both the kids love it. After that, he’d point at our medicine cabinet and asked for “Min!” (Vitamin C for kids).
Up to about a month or two ago, Aidan never liked to take any oral medication. I used to cringe when it was time to give him his meds (when he was sick) because he’d refused to take the medicine via the spoon and we had to resort to clamping his legs and arms so that we can squirt the meds slowly into his mouth. Suddenly, not sure what happened….he suddenly decided that he loved to take meds and even willingly takes his oral meds via the little medicine cups and when he’s done with them, he’d flash his victorious smile at us.
Expressing himself
I’m glad that Aidan is able to express himself better now. He’d say things like :
“Hand. Wash” (when he wants his hands washed)
“Ear. water” (when water went into his ear while taking a shower and after a while, he said “No more” to indicate that there was no longer water in his ear)
“Duduk here”
“Mommy!?? 1 more…Pisssss!!” (please)
“Hot! Hat!” - he’d request to wear his hat before we take him out for a walk
“Ok-thank-you-Bye-See-You-Mama-Yeh-Yeh” - he’d say this in one breath!
And sometimes…when he is just plain bored, he;d just shout out “mommy-daddy-kakak-mama-yeh-yeh!….” and then we’d all look at him with puzzled faces and he’d laugh!

rush job
Posted on July 31, 2009
Tini’s visa was due for renewal earlier this month and because of our busy schedules, we rushed to process her medicial checkup 2 weeks before her visa was due for renewal. I brought her to a nearby clinic for her medical checkup and the nurses there looked as though they weren’t trained at all. I wonder whether they attended medical assistant training school or not. The ‘nurse’ who helped to perform an x-ray for Tini did a boo-boo job because after a week, I got a call from the clinic to request that we bring Tini in for another round of x-ray! Seeing that we only had 1 week left, hubs had to bring Tini to the x-ray center itself at Jln Raja Laut instead of the clinic so that we can get the x-ray results on the same day and get it processed by FOMEMA before we can renew her visa at the immigration. Luckily her results came back positive and we managed to renew her visa at the immigration 2 days before the deadline!

Gooood Morning Kids!
Aidan would usually be the FIRST to wake up and upon realising that everyone else is sleep asleep? Will he go back to bed? Nooooo..he’d roll over all of us, stick his face in front of ours and call out our names! Although it is a real struggle to have to wake up before it’s time to wake up, it’s a real delight to see how chirpy Aidan is in the mornings!

poor lil fishy
Posted on July 23, 2009
Look at what we had …
Ashley had a container filled with water and a fish in it when I picked her up from school today. The kids learnt about fish and how they can breathe underwater and all and after that, each kid got to bring back a fish. Ashley was pretty excited when she handed the fish over to me. When we got home, I transferred the fish to a bigger container. Ashley wanted to cover the container …
Me : No…don’t cover the container or the fish is gonna suffocate
Ashley : No. It won’t. It’s got gills and can breathe under water
wwwooookay….
She had wanted to show it to hubs when he gets back later. Unfortunately, this little fishy didn’t manage to meet Hubs because after about 2 hours, the lil fishy was already dead!
Ashley : Mommy…why isn’t the fish’s mouth moving?
I went over to have a look at the lil fishy…
Me : Ashley, the fish is already dead!
Ashley : No. It’s eyes are still open! Maybe he is resting…
Me : No…it is dead.
And i scooped the fish out of the container.
Poor lil fishy…

when you grow up…
Posted on July 23, 2009
..what do you want to be? - That was what I asked the Lil Missy the other day. She answered :
Ashley : Cheh-cheh (big sister)
Me : But you are already a cheh-cheh. You don’t have to wait until you are grown up to be a cheh-cheh. What do you want to do? Do you want to be a doctor?
Ashley : No.
Me : Do you want to be like auntie doctor? (my obgyn)
Ashley : No.
Me : Then what do you want to do?
Ashley : I want to be like mommy. Work on the computer at home.
Me : Huh? You want to be in boring conference calls the whole day like mommy?
Ashley : Ya. So I can look after mommy and daddy when you get old
Me : Ok!
Ashley : But mommy is not old yet. I don’t want mommy to get old!

I haven’t been creating as much as I should and since the last time I blogged about new items in here, I thought I post some new stuff which I have uploaded into Mom’s Little Treasure Box since then - and plus, this mosaic maker is pretty cool la!
Speaking of creations, Ashley and I made lil charms out of the clay that I got her and glued them onto a hair clip! This clay is pretty good. It’s easy to work with and once you’ve moulded it into the desired shape, you can leave it to air dry and it’ll harden.
