Mommy, a blob?
Posted on February 24, 2009
Since Ashley started going to her new school this year, she has been bringing back stuff she made at school. Last week (20 Feb 09), when I picked her up from school, she said, “Mommy, I have something for you.” She reached into her school bag and pulled this out and gave it to me….

Imagine my reaction….
Mommy : (looking stunned) Wow….errr..what is this?
Ashley : It’s for you (and she gave me a smile)
Mommy : Is this supposed to be Mommy?
Ashley : Ya….
Mommy : Hmm..ok….(making a mental note to ask her teacher the next day what it’s supposed to be….)

>vacation vacation vacation<
Posted on February 24, 2009
This year is a busy year for me at work and since my schedule for this year has been carved out on stone, I know which are the months that I can getaway for a vacation. I’ve already started planning for our 1st scuba diving trip for the year. Am already thinking what we should do for our 2nd vacation this year. Perhaps I should check out the Outer Banks to see whether we can get any good deals. Can’t wait to get away!!!

>working from home…<
Posted on February 24, 2009
Since I started working from home, my manager has been asking me every month during our monthly review whether I had everything that I needed to work from home. To plan for this working arrangement, I made sure that I got an ergonomic study room to ensure that I work comfortably at home - which includes getting a proper study table and chair at the right height, I got myself an LCD monitor, keyboard (as opposed to working from the notebook) and even installed an air con in my study room.

>cost cutting = remove heath screening benefits?<
Posted on February 24, 2009
Due to the recent global recession, the company that I work for is also taking measures to reduce cost and they do this in a number of ways, one of which is taking away the Executive Health Screening benefit which many used to enjoy and limit it to only the managers. I think amidst all this cost cutting measures, Executive Health Benefits is something which the company should not strip off its employees but hey? When the decision has been made, who are we to say otherwise right? Anyway, whether the company provides the benefot or not, I still think that it is good that we go for a medical checkup once a year. There are all kinds of things which can be determined from a medical checkup which also include cancer. God knows that there are all types of cancer out there, Mesothelioma being one of them.

was it the stroller? or is he entering the ‘terrible two’ phase?
Posted on February 19, 2009
Yesterday evening, we went to the park with the kids and my parents. The moment Ashley said that she wanted to push the baby stroller - that was it. It was the beginning of H A V O C.
For starters, the moment Aidan laid eyes on it, he wanted to be the one to push it. Ashley didn’t allow him to push it and Aidan screamed in frustration. Ok nevermind - we distracted Aidan and soon he forgot about the stroller. When we walked on the jogging track, Ashley decided that she didn’t want to psuh the stroller anymore and then Aidan stepped in and insisted that he was the one to push the stroller. Ok nevermind - I thought. After 1 minute, I felt like throwing the stroller off the hill! Aidan wanted to push the stroller in the opposite direction! On top of that, he didn’t want to follow us wherever we went. No no…he wants things done HIS way! Even if it meant getting in the way of other joggers on the trail. When we wanted to go east, he’d go west. If we wanted to go north, he’d go south. And if we didn’t comply with him, he’d scream ‘NO NO” and then he’d ust scream ‘Ahhhhhhhh!’ - You get the drift? *sigh*. I was tired after sometime and decided to scoot him up into my arms and carry the stroller instead. Normally, in those kind of situations, he’d fuss abit and then he’d suck his thumb and touch my hair. But not yesterday. He struggled like hell. Flung his hands in all directions - hitting my face occasionally and wailed so loud until I swore that everyone at the park heard his cries!
So you tell me. Was the stroller the cause of the havoc? or is he entering the “Terrible Two” phase? We’ll find out today when we go to the park - minus the stroller.

When I grow up…..
Posted on February 15, 2009
2 Feb 2009 - Ashley @ her QQ Terence & Aunt Amy’s house…
Ashley can be a bit of a challenge to us during meal times. She tend to be distracted very easily in between eating. So I told her one day ….
Mom : If you don’t finish your food, your school will not take you in anymore. And if you don’t go to school, you won’t be able to get a proper job next time, and you will end up wth no money and you will be sleeping on the streets like the family we saw the other day (we saw a homeless family sleeping on the floor when we went to a night market)
Ashley : When I grow up, I want to be kakak (like our maid, Kakak TIni). And then you can call me Kakak Ashley. *GRINS*
I give up. *faint*

>busy year<
Posted on February 15, 2009
This year is going to be a busy work year for me because the team that I am working with are deploying a program to countries within the Asia Pacific and Japan region remotely. This means that during deployment, I would have to work longer hours and during weekends. It is tiring but luckily, I will be able to work in the comfort of my own home. These long working hours means no weight loss pills are needed!

Baby Jared
Posted on February 12, 2009
Welcome to the world, Baby Jared!
On the `17th January 2009, Baby Jared was born. What does this mean to the kids?
This means that Ashley and Aidan will have a playmate - as soon as Jared is old enough to start playing with them.
This means that Ashley has a new baby to fascinate over. Up till the day Jared was born, she was fascinated with Keith and Kyan (A friend’s twin sons). Ashley even named her 2 baby dolls after Keith and Kyan.
This means that one of Ashley’s baby doll will be renamed from either Keith/Kyan to Jared - and mind you, it has done it.
