Chinese New Year 2009

Posted on January 31, 2009

This year, we ushered the year of the Ox pretty much like how we usually celebrate Chinese New Year every year.

On the eve of Chinese New Year, we had dinner at my in-laws’ house. I bought the kids some CNY outfit and I so love to see them in their respective outfits!

25 Jan 09 - Check out our “Wong Fei Hong”!!!! Ain’t he a cutie pie?

The smashing outfit came with a hat and a fake pigtail even! What I like about this fake pigtail is that it can act as a substitue for my hair cause if I turn the hat so that the pigtail is on his shoulder, he would grab the end of the pigtail and start poking his ear while he sucks his thumb on the other hand! heheheh…cool eh?

The kids at my in-laws’ place….

L-R : Cousin Nicole, Cousin Briget, Ashley and Aidan

Ashley and Aidan were so happy to be able to play with their cousins during the CNY reunion dinner.

On the 1st day of CNY, we had another family dinner at our home. And again, the kids met up again and created havoc :)

26 Jan 09 - The girls converted the tent into their fort. Mind you - they even placed a bull-dog stuffed toy outside by the door to guard the entrance …from who? Aidan!

26 Jan 09 - Grandpa was the monster invading their fort!

That’s the bulldog guarding the entrance….It’s not so clear cause the bull-dog was misplaced abit.

The 3 stooges again….all in their lovely cheongsams!

Aidan tickled by Grandpa…Love this photo!

Aidan raiding the girls’ fort! Imagine Aidan charging into the tent and the girls were screaming!

This cheeky fella grabed the bag of goodies from inside the tent (to the girls’ dismay) and took it out to check it out.

And on the 2nd day of CNY, we had a party at our home (again!) but for friends and family.

Aaron came to the party as well and the three of them (including Ashley and Aidan) were all wearing red and white outfits which are from the same shop. We tried to get a picture of the 3 of them together but it was so darn difficult to get a decent picture with all them looking into the camera! here are some failed attempts…

27 Jan 09 - all the kids - looking at different directions! *sigh*

and another failed attempt

Love Aidan’s smile in this shot…

Ashley shrieking in pain when she accidently fell on her butt. Aidan putting the nth sausage into his mouth! Aaron all ready to stand up to run across the garage.

I rest my case!

Aidan contented with his toy car.

Grandma, Grandpa

Posted on January 29, 2009

So much has happened over the past 1.5 weeks. Ashley and Aidan has a newborn cousin called Jared who was born on the 17th Jan 2009. (Will not upload any pictures of Jared until I get permission from his mom and dad!:) ) Ashley’s quite taken with Jared. Aidan on the other hand was curious to be in the company of a newborn who is much smaller than him :) Because of the newborn, my parents are here with us for the next 2 months. So you can imagine, Ashley was ecstatic when her grandparents arrived at our doorstep. When my parents got into the house, Ashley quickly went into the kitchen, poured a glass of water and gave the glass of water to my mom. My mom was so touched by her actions. :) And then she told my dad, “I am so happy that you are here.” That made their day :)

14 Jan 09 - Ashley and Grandpa at the park….

Grandpa accompanying the kids at the playgroun….

Ashley took her shoes off to walk on the pebbles….to get a foot-reflexology action going….

Aidan took his shoes off too when he saw Ashley walk on the pebbles while Grandma were doing some stretching ….

Lok Kawi Wildlife Park

Posted on January 21, 2009

On Christmas Day last year, while my parents were busy preparing for their annual Christmas BBQ bash at their home, we decided to take the kids to the Lok Kawi Wildlife Park.  Overall, we were pretty impressed with what they have at the wildlife park BUT the only downside was that the carriage which people can actually sit in so that they can be driven around the park was not working. Hence we didn’t manage to cover the entire trail because it was too hot!

This little birdie (Hornbill i think) is one fiesty lil bird. He was harrassing another family with a baby. It kept wanting to take away the baby’s hat which fell on the floor…

Aidan and Ashley were abit surprised at how bold the birdie was….

Sun Bears

1 of 2 tigers

Ashley was getting tired..and wanted to be carried!

There was elephant rides going for RM5 for a 5-min ride

There were other animals as well (deers, monkeys, etc) but it was getting too hot and we decided to stop half way and walk back.

Definitely a nice place to entertain the kids!

Ashley and Aidan book collection is growing by the day! I’ve been buying alot of books online,  and when they arrive in the mail, Ashley will usually get excited cause it’s like getting a present from santa. Each night, she’d ask us to reda her a story before bed time and if we’re too lazy to read, she’d settle for a make-believe story which we make up.

>didya know?<

As much as I despise the Mat Rempits who thinks they rule the streets of KL at nights, there are other motocycle riders out there on the streets who fall prey to road bullies. These motorcycle riders can consult motorcycle accident attorneys if ever they are involved in an accident on the road. I personally didn’t know that there are such a thing as motorcycle accident attorneys but apparently there is.  Did you know that?

>de-clutter!<

Posted on January 21, 2009

Each time I go to a friend’s house, I come back to my own home thinking about how I can make my home more homey. You see, I think my home is full of clutter (I need to de-clutter!!!). I’ve toys everywhere which I wish I can keep them in the store room - but my store room is full of junk! I’ve hardly any table cloth nor pillar candles in my house as they are at risk of being torn apart or pose as a danger to the kids. Looks like it would be a few more years until I can decorate our home the way I want it to be.

>Those were the days…<

When I first started working in my company, I started out as an Account Services Engineer. I had to do HP-UX operating system upgrades and perform various software implementations. I used to remember that I had to lug around a big bag to my clients’ office because apart from carrying my very heavy notebook (10 years ago), I had to carry manuals and sometimes external tape drives as well! Thank goodness I don’t have to do that anymore. Those were the days…

Despite what the local telco companies claim that they have full cellphone coverage along the major highways, there are still blindspots that exist which would result in dropped calls - which irritate the hell out of me. Since I work from home now, I don’t really experience it but Hubs would usually call me to chit chat while he is driving home from work and each time he drives through a certain area on the highway, our call would drop. Perhaps we should look into a cell phone amplifiers.

Life

Posted on January 21, 2009

Before hubs and I got married, besides work, we usually meet up with our bunch of mutual friends on friday and saturday nights  and we will head to our favourite hang out i.e. a pub at Bangsar for drinks, catch up and to boogie. We’d watch a movie at the cinema every other week and there was hardly a weekend where we didn’t have anything to do together.

Now, after marriage and kids, life is different. Not that I am longing for the good old days but life is so much more fullfilling and enriching especially with kids. We hardly have our weekly social outings anymore (although we still try to go scuba diving at least once a year!) due to family obligations.  When the kids go to bed at night, I am contented by just staying home to watch a movie, or make handmade jewelry or surf the internet with my ever reliable laptop. Hubs is contented to lay down on the couch like a couch potato and afix his eyes on the idiot box. Such is life now :)

Good Morning Kiddos!

Posted on January 19, 2009

11 Jan 09 - The kids drinking their milk first thing in the morning on a lazy sunday morning…..

And as usual, Aidan will be the first one to finish his milk while Ashley takes her own sweet time…..

Aidan is picking up more words each day…just the other day, when Tini was about to feed him some porridge, he said “Tak Mau” (malay for ‘don’t want’)

His favorite word now is “No Nooo” - thanks to us I suppose :)

And each time he finish drinking his milk, he’d say, “Finish!”

Although he cannot string up a few words and talk, he can surely understand us when we speak to him.

Aidan is having major separation anxiety when I leave him for awhile. I think it’s partly because when I work from home and when I leave him with Tini and go off to my study room to work, I don’t come back for him until lunch or break time - which is after 2-3 hours. *sigh*…
