26 Oct 2008 - Goooood Morning Ashley!

Since Ashley started her school break, both the kids have been home with me. This’ll hopefully give my in-laws a break too. However, over the weekend, my MIL called and asked that we bring the kids over to her place once in a while. She claimed that Bridget (7yo granddaughter that she babysits) wants to play with Ashley too. So last night, we agreed to send both the kids and the maid over to MIL’s house. Before bedtime, Ashley and I had a mother-daughter talk:

Me : Ashley, do you want to go to Mama’s house tomorrow while Mommy work from home?

Ashley : Yes..

Me : Why?

Ashley : Because i want to play with Bridget

Me : Don’t you want to stay with me?

Ashley : Yes. But I want to play with Bridget

Me : (being the wicked, possessive mom) You don’t want to be with Mommy anymore?

Ashley : (I) want……I love Mommy….But I want to play with Bridget.

Me : (trying to pull her leg) Why not you stay with Mommy? Mommy wants you to be home….

Ashley : Ask Bridget to come to our house then we can play here. Can?

Me : Ok…

This Lil Missy was being very diplomatic. She didn’t want to hurt my feelings :)

having 2…

Posted on November 26, 2008

…maids over the weekend was great! My sister and family went away for a short vacation last weekend and her maid, Siti stayed with us. Ahhhh…when my sister first told me early last week that she was going to leave Siti with us, I was already planning on what I wanted to do over the weekend! :) So with 2 maids in the house with us, I managed to :

- do some much-needed spring cleaning!

- make a necklace from some semi precious stones that my sis and I bought a couple of weeks ago

- create some scrapbook layouts!

- organize my home office!

- sort out my letters and filed important documents - I have been pretty slack in this department. Now everything is organized - for now…let’s see how long this will last!

Hubs said that I could be like a tai-tai when I go out since I have 2 kids and 2 maids to kao-tim them :P So tai-tai I was. When we went out on Saturday night, (the kids, maids and I), Siti took care of Ashley (Ashley wanted Kakak Siti to do everything for her!) and Tini took care of Aidan - which left me pretty empty handed. I must say that I wasn’t used to having my hands free from either pushing the stroller or carrying Aidan or holding Ashley’s hand. But on that Sunday night, my hands felt so bare. I felt awkward that I was able to dangle them at the side of my body. Whichever position they were, it felt awkward. Anyway,  so off I marched into the shopping mall with 2 kids and maids trailing behind me. I managed to get whatever I had set out to get. So that outing was pretty productive.

When we’re home, the maids will do the donkey job for the kids and we get to enjoy being with the kids. All the nitty gritty stuff are handled 100% by the 2 maids. …and just when I was used to this…..My sister and family comes home…and now we are left with 1 maid :) It was fun & productive while it lasted. Nevertheless, having Tini around is a real blessing to us as well.  She has been with us for 4 months now and I’m so glad that this worked out fine for us. The kids have taken a liking towards her when I am not around - when they have no choice. But when I am around, I’m always their preferred choice. Both kids will want me to carry them and grab my hair! And mind you, Aidan can be very possesive. At times, he’ll show his disapproval by whining and pushing Ashley away from me.

Someone once commented that when you have a good maid, you won’t be able to live without one. I think we fall into that category. I am already thinking what we’ll do with help once Tini finishes her 2y contract!

her antics

Posted on November 25, 2008

When I work from home, Ashley will find ways to keep herself entertained. One morning, while I was in the midst of a conference call, I noticed that she was lying down on the floor below my chair with her head on a pollow while she drank her milk. After she finished her milk, she continued to lie on the floor, below my chair and decided to show me funny faces when I snapped pictures of her while I was seated.

She purposely made funny faces while i snapped pictures of her!

Cheeky gal!

Lil Miss Imagination

Posted on November 25, 2008

Alot of people have asked me how I managed to work from home with the kids. Aidan will either be at my MIL’s house while I work or will be home with me. Either way,  Tini, our maid will be looking after him while I am working. As for Ashley, since she is older, I can leave her to do her own stuff. She’d entertain herself with her books, playdoh, colouring books, painting (on the bathroom walls), play dress-up and also play chef! It’s amazing what goes through her mind. At this age, kids’ minds are so  innocent and so full of imagination! Here are some of the things she had done :

- She found my big calculator one day and pretended that it was a  cash register!

- She stuck a pen in the copier and made a copy of my pen! (I was amazed at her operating my copier cum printer.

- There is a CF card slot on my printer and she pretended that it was the parking ticket machine and tried to stick a piece of paper into it!

- She messed  about with Hub’s silk ties and pretended that it was a  belt and tied it round her waist!

She surprises me everyday and she is indeed a blessing to our family (not that Aidan isn’t la…but we’re talking about Ashley now :) )

working from home with the kids…

Posted on November 24, 2008

…….can be both rewarding and frustrating at times. But for the most part, it is nice to be with the kids at home while I work.

11 Nov 08 - Lil Aidan playing with his cars next to me at my home office….

Aidan’s favourite truck

He’d purposely wheel the cars off the chair and table until they crash onto the floor! Boys will be boys!

While Aidan was playing with his cars, Ashley was making a mess on the floor of my home office! Luckily, I have a maid to clean up the mess :) heheheh….

goooood morning kiddos!

It’s impossible to take a decent picture with the 2 of them looking at the camera….this is the best I could do :)

Ashley - all color coodinated with her purple doggie! - by coincidence.

This was the only way I could get him to stand still for a moment - by asking him to point to me his belly button!

11 Oct 2008 - Gooooood Morning Aidan.

It surprises me how easily Aidan wakes up in the morning. As soon as he is awake, he’d sit right up on his bed and he’d walk over to our bed or to Ashley’s bed.  (our beds are all joined together). He doesn’t laze around on the bed before waking up - unlike Ashley.

Here’s Aidan showing his belly button when I asked him where his belly buton was….Love that smirk on his face…

Love this photo of Lil Taukeh….

Aidan looking on at Ashley while she drank her milk. Aidan woke up way earlier than her and he had already gulped down his milk by then….He must be wondering what took Ashley so long to finish her milk. He takes approximately 2 mins to finish 8oz of milk..as opposed to Ashley who takes like 20 mins to finish her milk - dilly dallying about…

After their morning bath, they played together on the bed…

skype with grandma & grandpa

(PIc taken on 13 Nov 2008)

I finally bought a webcam and an external mic for my notebook since my notebook didn’t come with a webcam and a mic. Eversince I got them, we’ve been skyping with my parents. Ashley was thrilled by the fact that she could speak and see her grandparents over skype. Aidan on the otherhand was abit scared. While I was setting up skype, the webcam and the mic for the first time, Aidan sat on my lap facing the notebook. When I dialled my parents via skype - he was still ok…listening to the ringing tone. The moment my parents answered and their video appeared on the screen, Lil Taukeh freaked out, turned around and hugged me so tightly as though he had seen a ghost! He refused to turn around even when my parents were calling out to him. Poor fella. He only freaked out during that one time.  In subsequent skype video calls with my parents, he got used to the idea of speaking and seeing a video of my parents over the computer and have been very interactive with them. He kept calling Papa (for Grandpa) and willl give them a flying kiss when before we end the call.

Speaking of going hi-tech, Grandpa (my dad) is also going hitech. He is a frequent user of MSN Messenger & Facebook too - don’t play-play ok…

>what burns?<

Posted on November 18, 2008

I have a friend who, after giving birth to 2 kids  decided to sign up for a slimming program but little did she know that before her 2nd child turned 1 year old, she got pregnant with her 3rd child :) Hence, her slimming program needs to be put on hold for the next 8-9 months. If the slimming program that she signed up for expires by the time she is ready to start on the program, perhaps I should recommend to her Fenphedra. It’s supposed to be an effective fat-burning, energy-giving supplementation.

..since Hubs and I tied the knot…..Never did we expect to have 2 beeeyootifull kids down the road then. So what Hubs did deserves a mention in my blog :)

Our wedding anniversary was on 15 Nov 2008, Sat. But on the day before the anniversary, he ordered more than a dozen roses and got it delivered to the house while I was working from home during the day - to surprise me. Thank you Hubs!

The kids insisted on sitting at the background…but who were they concentrating on?
