girls will be girls…

Picture this….

A lil 3yo toddler coming in and our of my study, each time adorning a new outfit! She found the bags and bags of clothing which were too small for both Aidan and herself in the guest room and decide to ransack them. While working on the computer in my study room, she’d nudge me on my elbow and put both her hand up in the air - signalling for me to remove her top so that she could wear something from the bags and bags of clothing.

She is also fond of wearing shoes which she has outgrown.  One day, she couldn’t squeeze her whole foot into her pair of shoes (as opposed to sandals). She got frustrated and started crying and whining - not accepting the fact that the shoe was too small for her.  I had to explain to her that the shoes was too small for her but she kept insisting that she could squeeze her foot into it and I’d tell her again that she won’t be able to fit into the pair of shoes and it’d go on and on and on….It got to the point where she was irritating the hell out of me. I couldn’t make her stop crying.  I was busy. So I sat her on her chair at the corner of the study room and told her to stop crying and calm down.

Look at how distraught she was…..

She was trying to wear this shoe…

But they were too small for her..
After 10 minutes, she calmed down and stopped crying and managed to smile for me…

As like every other afternoons, it rained cats and dogs yesterday. While I was busy doing my work in my study, Ashley was about to get into the bath tub to play when suddenly there was a loud thunder.

Ashley : Wow Mom! The thunder is so loud, Mom!

Me : Yea…..

Ashley : Can you please turn the volume down?

I couldn’t help giggling at that innocent request of hers….

She really is the sunshine of my life especially during rainy days. (Not to say Aidan isn’t la… He makes the sunshine even brighter!) :)

so far…..

9 Aug 08 - My fav photo of Aidan so far….

(Credits : As I am Kit by creashens - available at twolittlepixels)

…..our maid, Tini has been pretty good. Today marks her 1 month anniversary with us (as though I am keeping tabs la…).

Although she doesn’t move in lightning speed, she manages to get the job done and doesn’t forget what I taught her before when I teach her new stuff (unlike my previous maid)

SInce the kiddos basically do not like her (it is confirmed!), she doesn’t take care of the kids. She does all the donkey jobs laundry, ironing, general cleaning, pack the nappy bags, prepare the bath for Aidan etc. But we still give the children their bath, change them, carry them and what not….The only time Tini gets to carry Aidan is when he is asleep. Other than that…..when she tries to carry him by force, the lil fella will bite her on her arm or shoulder! Ashley on the other hand refuse to sit at the back of the car with Tini nor receive any help whatsoever from Tini.

My life with a maid has improved.

Aaaahhhhh :)

>Halloween’s round the corner…<

Posted on August 26, 2008

7 years ago, I was working on a project at my office at Fort Collins, Colorado for 10 weeks. I spent Halloween there as well and it was my very first experience, celebrating Halloween in such a big way (as compared to Halloween here at Malaysia). On Halloween Day, our office was basically transformed into a ghost town. Everyone dressed the part and the office declared it a 1/2 day. We only had to work during the 1st half of the day and during the 2nd half of the day, people brought their kids to the office for trick or treating. I also got a couple of Halloween invitations which were really interesting. Since Halloween is round the corner, I may just decide to throw a Halloween party - just for fun - so that the kids can have some fun…..

While I was working at my study room, I decided to check out what Ashley was up to then. I looked around for her and found her fast asleep in her tent (which she calls her ‘house’). It was sitting on our bedroom floor.  Before that, she was messing about the clothes which Aidan has outgrown.  She found a pair of pants which is obviously  too smallfor her, insisted on wearing it and decided to fall asleep in it as well…*shakes head from side to side….*

One fine day, while I was busy working in my study room, I suddenly realised an unusual silence. I couldn’t hear Ashley pottering about as always. I decided to walk over to my bedroom and the moment I stepped through the doorway, I could hear some whisperings…..I walked over towards the end of the room and found Ashley in the narrow gap between the window-wall and Aidan’s cot. She was sitting on the floor and was reading a book to Mr Bear (as seen in the picture above). *phew*

I couldn’t help but smile, snappped a few pictures of her and went back to the grind at my study room…

I had a late night conference call one weekday night and Ashley decided to hang around in my study room. She entertained herself by taking one of her old school books, stood at one end of the room and started saying, “Children!? What is this?” Children? What is this? …Sun. Very good!” There’s nothing better than having my 3yo cheer me up while I reluctantly attend to the conference call…..

>health and beauty<

Posted on August 20, 2008

I was born with single eyelids. I never quite fancy double eye-lids to the point that I would yearn to use some kind of a sticker to create temporary double eye-lids nor did I yearn to go under the knife to create double eye-lids. However, I do get temporary double eye-lids when I’ve lack of sleep. After the birth of my first born, my single eye-lids transformed to double eye-lids overnight - for good! What does that tell you huh? Motherhood + no maid = Lack of sleep = double eye-lids! Anyway, after the birth of my firstborn, I always felt the need to maintain my own health and beauty. Apart from exercising, there are health and beauty products out there in the market which are available such as orovo. Check it out.

9 Aug 2008 - Aidan @ 1y 3m

Love everything about Aidan in this shot….

- love to see him in just his diapers…so babyish…(DUH!)

- love that big belly of his which protrudes like that of a taukeh’s

- love those KFC finger-lickin thighs

- love that natural messed-up hair-do of his….

- love the way he is hanging on to his fav bolster which was made with love by Taufu-Fa’s Poh-Poh - although he knows I was stripping him to give him his bath…

the daredevil

Aidan loves to go to the edge of the bed and hang off it. Sometimes I don’t know whether he just wants to hang off the bed for cheap thrills or whether  he has forgotten how painful it is to fall off the bed and would like to try…
