‘ponteng’ for a week
Posted on July 30, 2008
Credits here.
The Lil Missy is not going to school for the next 1 week cause her school is shut for a week due to a chicken pox epidemic. Apparently 7 kids got Chicken Pox!
Anyways, Tini was home with us the whole day. My MIL insisted that we don’t bring her to her house today. Why? Aiya…….a story for another day….I told her to wake up at 6am on week days and I heard the vacuum running at 5.45am this morning so I guess she woke up earlier than 6am…..
By 7.30am - she has vacuumed and mopped the floor downstairs, washed the bathroom downstairs and sorted out what needs to be sorted out in the kitchen and taken her shower and all.
By 12noon - she is done with her household chores! She vacuumed and mopped all the room upstairs and washed both the bathroom upstairs.
So what did she do for the rest of the day? Entertain the Lil Missy. Ashley is pretty happy around her. When they are together, it is a case of chicken and a duck talking. Ashley doesn’t understand Bahasa Indonesia. Tini doesn’t understand English. Go figure…..
By 5.30pm, I heard the vacuum running again downstairs (as I work upstairs) and then I found out that she vacuumed and mopped the floor downstairs again! *speechless*……nothing better else to do ah?
Over the past few days, I’ve spot-checked on her, quietly sneaked downstairs just to check what she was doing when I know all that needs to be done are done. I am pleased to say that during all my spot-checks, she was either quietly cleaning the windows or wiping the furniture….let’s hope this continues…
Meanwhile, the Lil Missy is happy with the extra company in the house. She no longer stays in my study room while I work. In fact she hasn’t stayed in my study room today for more than 10 minutes today! Good or bad? I dunno…..

>my home office<
Posted on July 30, 2008
As some of you may know, I’ve started working from home since early this year. In preparation for this, I had to clear up my spare room and look for suitable home office furniture for my home office so that I can work comfortably. After going researching on what I should get for my home office, it took me a week to sort out all the home office furniture I needed and I can proudly say that what used to be a room full of junk is now transformed into a home office.

the new ‘kakak’
Posted on July 29, 2008
Alas, our replacement maid has arrived. Her name is Tini.
We picked her up at the Maid Agency last Saturday.
She had already been in KL for a week then because my ‘dear’ agent only informed us of her arrival 2 days before her expect arrival to Malaysia and we didn’t have time to clear up the spare room to make room for the new kakak. Needless to say, we spent a good 3 hours on Friday night after dinner, clearing up all the junk, relocated the washing machine whilst having to juggle between 2 hyper active + grumpy toddlers (since it was already late at night):P
First impression of the maid when we met her at the agency? - 6/10 (yes and I’m a skeptic - can you blame me after getting a doh-doh bird before?) She was all smiles and all and she came forward to pull out the chairs for us to sit on. (I think the agents have trained all the maids to do this when their employers came to pick them up)
So far, she has been with us for 3 nights. So far so good. My expectations of her have been zeroed considering what we got last year.
She is not as forgetful as our previous maid.
Ashley’s reactions towards her is ok. No ill feeling towards Tini at all. In fact, Ashley was ‘interviewing’ Tini in English and Tini does not understand nor speak English at all….Ashley was asking her all sorts of things like :
- Can you swim? Can? Can or not? (kept asking her this cause Tini didn’t reply and didn’t understand Ashley)
- Can you sing? Twinkle Twinkle Little Star…….
Aidan is not liking her one bit though. Each time I pass him to Tini, he’d scream and cry as though i had desserted him. So I’d have to mandi kerbau or eat really fast to shorten his misery with her.
So far she’s much more matured than the previous maid. She’s 35 and has a 13yo and an 8yo. She claims to have work experience but I an skeptical cause :
- she has not used a vacuum cleaner before….But we taught her how to use it and she picked it up pretty easily after that.
- as hubs puts it, she ‘floods’ the floor when she mops the floor. We had to teach her the right way to mop the floor but she was ok after that.
- When I asked her to wash the garage floor with the broom with hard bristles, she scrubbed the floor as though she was caressing the floor and in an un-systematic way. I taught her to scrub the floor the right way and she was ok after that.
But it’s ok, like I said, expectations have been set to zero. At least she picks it up when we teach her the right way to do things.
Hopefully this one is a keeper. *fingers crossed*

our lil doorman
Posted on July 27, 2008
Eversince Aidan started to walk, he has a fascination for doors. As soon as he sees a door open, he’d rush to it and attempt to open and close the door and play a lil peekaboo while he is as it.

(20 July 08) - Here’s Aidan at the door to our bathroom

Here’s one of him attempting to get out of the room….
(24 July 08) - and another one of Aidan at the bathroom door…

an afternoon at the clubhouse…..

(pictures taken on 6 july 08)
On the day after my birthday, my sis arranged for us to have lunch at golf club downtown KL.
The kids had fun.
Ashley played with Aaron at the indoor playhouse by the pool.
Aidan was chilling with the adults.
Us adults - we sat by the pool and indoor playground chilling and slowly ate our lunch.
Hubs carried Aidan in a baby sling.
I was hoping to snap some nice pictures of Aidan on the greens but all I got was this…
.
.
.
.
.
.

Aidan crying……

…and more crying…..

…and more cries to be rescued from his misery..
After a few shots, I scooted him off the greens…:P

Cousin Aaron - giving a bit too much lurve to Aidan..LOL!

The 3 cousins…..planning for their next course of destruction

The pool at the club that day was booked for a swimming tournament so we decided to go to my sis’s place for a swim.

The Lil Missy enjoyed herself while Aidan was in deep slumber that afternoon….

And while the Lil Missy went back and forth between the adult pool and childrens’ pool….

I just chilled…..

oh where, oh where has my housekeeper gone???
Posted on July 21, 2008
..oh where, oh where could she be???
I’ve been waiting for my agent to produce a housekeeper to me for that last God knows how many months. It’s been so long, peppered with a bit of a drama here and there with MIL as co-starring (story for another day…) until when my agent called me last Saturday that my housekeeper from Indonesia is finally arriving to KL on Monday, today, I was stunned for words! Cat bit my tongue you say? Ya you might say that! LOL!
Annnnnyway, now that the housekeeper is finally arriving on Monday, my agents said that I could pick her up this afternoon. I was like ‘ no way!’ So many things were slowly coming into my head :
First or all …Told the blardy agent to give me 1-2 weeks in advance and she gives me blardy 2 days in advance???? And what was the agent’s reply?
Agent : Errr, I told you that she will arrive at the end of the month ma….
Me : Eh hello? You told me many things and I had no maid for the last xxx months!
Secondly, no way in hell am I going to accept a stranger into my house if she hasn’t gone for a medical checkup yet and until I see the report will I then accept her into my household. And what was the agent’s reply?
Agent : She will arrive KL on Monday morning, we send her for medical checkup straightaway and then you shold be able to pick her up on Monday afternoon la…
Me : Huh? Then will get her medical report?
Agent : Oh that one ah…..will only get a report in 2 week’s time
Me : WHAT? Then you expect me to bring her home not knowing whether she is sick or have any diseases until after 2 weeks???????
Agent : Normally doctor will call us after 2 days if the maid is not well etc.
Me : In that case, I will collect her on Sat. Make sure I get a report on her medical checkup.
And to top it off, the agent said I had to top up another RM500 cause apparently the Indonesian agent is demanding 7 months salary advance as opposed to 6 months advance! It’s very questionable where this “advanced salary” i goes to…..
Anyway,
- fingers crossed that maid will be far from the doh-doh bird that we got last year
- expectations have been zeroed to avoid disappointment. I just hope that this new helper of mine is focussed on only 1 thing - to earn money to support her family back home. Period.
- room downstairs have to be cleaned out to make room for the new housekeeper
Wish us luck!
