off to San Antonio..
Posted on May 30, 2008
Boy am I so glad that I am halfway through this Houston trip of mine. Looks like it took several days for me to get used to the time difference and all. I am literally drained out by the end of each day! (no joke) and by dinner time, I am practically in another planet…trying very hard to not fall asleep.
Anyway, am off to San Antonio, Texas for the weekend and will be back to Houston on Sunday for another week before I head back home (can’t wait!). Till then….

the play button

Since I started working from home (WFH) 100% (since Feb 08), my work is filled with concalls one after the other and when I am not in concalls, I will be trying to finish up my stuff to meet deadlines that were set during the concalls. Hence I got to find ways and means to keep the Lil Missy occupied. So how do I keep her occupied apart from her having her own little ‘office’ corner in my study room?
- I let her play in the baby bathtub for 30min (supervised of course..I can see her from where I sit and do my work)before giving her a proper bath - so that I will have 30 mins to spare to do my own work
- Or..I let the TV nanny entertain her - for at least an hour before she gets sick and tired of watching cartoons
- I let her do painting
- Print out stuff from the internet and get her to colour them
And when she is not busy doing the above, she’d be napping for at least 2 hours. So I got my afternoon (since she comes back from school at noon) pretty sorted out huh? Not always but it’s manageable.
So when I’m really busy, our conversation would go like this (of which when I think back, I do sound like a horrid mom)….
Ashley : (Screams from downstairs) MOMMMMMMMYYYY!!!!!!!!
Mom : (Screams from upstairs from my study room) YESSSSSSS?????
Ashley : Cartoon finish(ed)!!!!!!!
Mom : OK! Press the play button again!!!!!
Ashley : OK!!!!
And I get more time to myself to do my own work! ![]()

fun at the playground

At times when the weather is good, I’d take the Lil Missy out to the playground. I must confess that although I work from home 100%, I don’t take her to the playground as often as I should…..
Anyhow, on occassions when we do go to the playground, she’d be very happy…..But each time when we do go to the playground, I’d phsych her up that when it is time to go home, she’d leave the playground gracefully as opposed to shouting and screaming and whining in defiance. Since it is such a rare treat for her to go to the playground, she’d usually listen to me when it’s time to go home….
This is us while walking to the playground…
Mommy : Ok when mommy says “Ashley, we are going home in 5 minutes ok?” What must you say?
Ashley : Ok mommy (in her sweeeetest voice)

When Aidan turned 1, one of the things I boasted to myself was that the lil taukeh never once fell off the bed (well at least not that I know off la!) Then, 6 days after he turned 1, our dear lil taukeh had his first fall off the bed! It all happened so quickly!!!!! I was with Aidan on the bed. Hubs was on the bed too - using my phone to surf the net. Ashley spilled her milk on the floor so I left Aidan for 1 sec (thinking that Hubs would look after him while I tend to Ashley & also I didn’t think he’d crawl THAT fast!) and then suddenly??? THUD!!!! I was so shocked I just stared at my poor lil taukeh sprawled flat on his back on the floor with my mouth wide open while Hubs hurried to pick him up. Thankfully he was not hurt but he cried sooooooooo loud and for soooo long. Poor boy. Sorry Aidan!

For quite sometime now, Aidan has been pointing at stuff. He’d point at the light, fan, air con and even the birds (at MIL’s house) when we ask him to. I like the way he points at stuff cause he’d bend his wrist and point using his index finger and he’d say,”ooh! oooh! oooh!” So lately, whenever he wants us to get something for him, he’d point at the object, look at us and go,”Ooh! ooh!”

Hubs lowered him down into the pool…Luckily Aidan didn’t cry

Ashley - very happy with her first dip into the cold water…

Aidan - hanging on to his balls - as though for dear life. LOL!

Love that smirk on Aidan’s face…

G.I. Jo

(4 May 08) Good Morning Kiddos..
Since Aidan’s hair was growing unevenly…..we decided to bring him for his 2nd hair cut (4 May 08). This time, we brought him to our own hairdresser. We initially wanted to give him a crew cut all over…but the hairdresser, recommended that we leave the top part of hair uncut…So he ended up looking like a G.I. Jo!

(4 May 08) He sat on top of Hubs’ lap all the time….

Hubs inspecting what’s left of Aidan’s hair…

To get Aidan to lower his head, Alex got his assistant to drop clips on the floor so that Aidan will lower his head
After his hair cut……we brought the kids for a swim - Aidan’s first swim in the pool.

Ashley loves to eat whatever we eat - including junk food. We had a lot of leftover junk food from their birthday party. One night, after dinner, while the kids were in the play pen, Hubs asked me…
Hubs : Do you want the green one or the brown one? (Green for Chickadees and Brown for Twisties)
Me : Green one please….
Hubs : Ok…
Ashley : Dad? I want the Green one too please….(not knowing what the green or brown were but she assumed that it was something we planned to eat on our own without her…)
Cheeky gal…

his first, her third

We had a joint party to celebrate Aidan’s 1st birthday and Ashley’s 3rd birthday last Saturday (10 May 08). It was a late birthday party for Aidan as the part was 2 days after his actualy birthday and an early party for Ashley as her birthday is on the 2 June. I felt a bit guilty cause I started preparing for Ashley’s 1st birthday party 3 months before the party and 2 months before her 2nd birthday bash but for Aidan’s 1st party….I started to organize it like 3 weeks before!
The Birthday Boy and Girl

My Lil Taukeh - chillin’ on Uncle Terence’s lap.
And look at the reluctant birthday girl…..
Aidan was oblivious to what was happening…had to clap his hands for him
The Birthday Cake

We didn’t celebrate it at Marmalade nor did we order the cake from Lilian like we used to. (Lilian’s cake prices have gone UP!) This time, we ordered cupcakes from Special Cakes - thanks for Jazz’s recommendations. I must say not only do they look pretty, they taste YUMMY!
For Aidan’s cupcakes, I ordered the chocolate cupcake with Jungle Animals on them.

For Ashley’s cupcakes, I ordered the vanilla cupcakes with Little Fairies (they look more like mermaids!) and Butteflies on them.

These cupcakes don’t come cheap though. I ordered a total of 50 cupcakes and paid RM306! BUT!? They look good and tastes really good! I can vouch for that cause for someone who’d through any cake leftovers, I actually had the leftover cupcakes for breakfast for the next 3 days! and the best part? The icing or whatever you call it on the top of the cupcakes are not so sweet!

The Venue
Oh and did I mention? We had the party at our house for family and close friends. My house is so small and everyone wanted to be in the air-conditioned house and thus my living hall/dining area was packed with people!
The Balloons
So since we decided to have the party at our house, we decided to decorate the place with some balloons. So off we went to the party shop at Ikano. Let me warn you - they are throat-cutters! Their Helium balloons go for RM1.80 for the balloons and addition RM4.00 for the helium PER balloon. So if you’re thinking of getting Helium Balloons? Forget about that party shop (there is only 1 party shop at Ikano). Everyother place e.g. Balloons Bouquet and the little kiosk outside of the Giant Supermarket at Atria are selling the Helium balloons for Rm2.50 each (inclusive of balloon, helium, ribbon and a washer tied to the end of the ribbon).
I also decorated the huge play pen borrowed from my sis with the helium balloons but strangely enough…I didn’t snap any pictures of it! I must have been to busy!
The Pressies
Both Ashley and Aidan received lots and lots of pressies!
There are more which are not in the picture. Thank you for the pressies! You know who you are!:P

Aidan was not so interested in the pressies…he was more interested to tear the wrapping paper so that he could eat the paper!
The Food
…was catered.
The Parents?
K.N.A.C.K.E.R.E.D!
Overall - the party was great.
