2007 came and is almost gone..in 10 minutes, we’ll be hearing lots of fireworks….

The highlight of 2007? is the birth of our dear Aidan.

We had a quiet night at home tonight and decided to put on my chef hat and whipped us all some dinner. The fireworks will go off in less than 10 minutes and I had better be near my 2 sleeping kiddos. Hubs is knocked off by the flu medicine he had taken earlier on….:P

Happy New Year to all!

what we did for christmas…

Posted on December 31, 2007

The whole gang went back to KK for Christmas….I loved it back home. Being home is such a refreshing change from the hustle and bustle of city life. In KK, time seemed to travel ever so slowly….(LOL!) The sun rises at about 6.30am and set by 6pm. We got stuck in traffic at the city center one day and what seemed like eternity was only a mere 10 minutes! LOL!

Anyways….Ashley loved it at my parents’ place. She enjoyed running around my parents’ place because there was so much space to run around as compared to our house. Aidan, on the other hand, didn’t want to miss the fun. He was on the floor most of the time - exploring.

Ashley, Grandpa and Santa Claus at Nexus, Karambunai.

Lil Taukeh and Grandpa….Aidan is giving the “whatcha-lookin’-at” look…

Of late, Aidan has been trying to stand…this was an attempt by Grandpa to help him stand - with Lil Missy’s assistance of course….

Lil Missy decided to give me a few seconds of poses for me…

And like all Christmases, my mom made YUMMYLICIOUS cakes. Pictured here is the coffee cake. She made some kick-ass Christmas Fruit Cake with Brandy and Honey Comb cake (really yummy especially when it’s fresh out of the oven!.mmm)

My nephew, Aaron - the youngest heartbreaker in town.

And here’s Aidan, happily crawling about on the floor on Christmas morning when we all sat on the floor in the living room, exchanging and opening our pressies.

Aidan attempting to open his pressies…

And like all of my parents’ Christmas celebrations, we had a big one this year as well…Lots of friends and relatives came for the open house. And what’s a Christmas party without barbecued Lamb Chops and the works!? There were lots and lots of food which were all prepared by my parents. There was even a band at during the party who sang Christmas Carols throughout the night. After that, my mom and her linedancing kakis performed several number. And while all the party was happening outside of the house, the kids were playing in the house. After playing, I got them to pose for me for keepsakes….

Check out how happy Ashley was….Except for the girl on the far left who my mom’s maid’s daughter, the rest of the girls are Ashley’s (and Aidan’s) cousins.

And check out the cut above Ashley’s left eye? The Lil Missy was running towards me (at the living room at my parents’ place), slipped on a cloth on the floor, fell and knocked herself really HARD on the wooden bench I was sitting on! The knock was so hard and loud and she instantly cried (of course). Hubs immediately picked her up and applied ice on her. I was too shocked. Poor gal. There was no swelling afterwards because of the ice but the poor lil missy was in pain and in shock and she cried till she coughed out loud. Poor gal. Thankfully, the cut was not any deeper or she’d need stitches…OUCH.

All in all….the trip back home was great. I think we need to go back more often to get away from city life once in awhile…:)

Tis the season to be jolly….

I love this time of the year…..and this year, it’s special because it’s Aidan’s VERY first Christmas and Lil Missy is old enough to enjoy it. Merry Christmas!!!!

Aaron’s party

On the 9th Dec 2007, we attended Aaron’s (my nephew) Christening and early 1 year Birthday Party at Cafe Citron, Bangsar….The place was nicely decorated and my sis hired a clown cum face painter cum balloonist. All the bigger kids loved the clown except for the lil missy. She was terrified of the clown and refused to even go near him! Aidan? Well..he was having his own fun too….he was basically sleeping throughout the party :)

A coupla cupcakes for the birthday boy….

Birthday cake for the birthday boy….lovely isn’t it? It’s always to tough cutting cakes made from Lilian especially when they look this good!

Hubs and Aidan…having a father-son moment there….

Grandma adjusting the ribbon of Ashley’s dress….

There was a beautiful garden at the back of the cafe and we jumped at the chance of taking some outdoor pictures…The lil missy was kind enough to pose for me :)

Moi..the photog.

The food was yummy….

and check out what else was yummy????

So apparently the ribbon was yummy too - at least to our lil taukeh :)

The clown cum face painter cum balloonist….and he only costs RM300 for 3 hours! What a deal…no?

One of the kids graciously allowed me to snap a picture of her with the wonderful painting of a butterfly on her cheek.

..is an ambitious lil one….

He’s starting to crawl..

He is 7 months old now. He can hardly crawl on all fours but the lil one is trying very very hard indeed and in his own way, he is able to reach out and chase for toys that are placed in front of him my moving himself with his hands while, at the same time balance himself on his tummy tum-tum.

He attempts to stand up…

Aidan has also started to want to stand. If we were to attempt to place him down in a sitting position, he’d resist by straightening his legs. MIL commented,” Ai yoh! Difficult man. He is so strong…” Ok….note to self - take it positively….

He’s starting to grab my hair & suck his thumb…

Although Ashley, at a younger age compared to Aidan now, had a fetish for my hair, I can now see that Aidan is starting to have the tendency to grab my hair and suck his thumb while I’m carrying him.

Every night, before bed time, I’d lay Aidan down on the bed and run my hair across his face and he totally loves it…Imagine, lil taukeh, grinning from ear to ear, with his eyes closed and giving his giggle of approval each time I run my hair across his face. Priceless.

Some sibling fun…

(10 Dec 07) - Aidan and Ashley….Notice how Ashley was taken to the camera whereas Aidan was just trying to cope. In all the excitement, Ashley brought Aidan nearer to her so that he was next to her for the photo shot.

Relaxing with Grandma and Grandpa

Notice how contented Aidan is in the picture……and who was making him smile?…

Grandpa.

our christmas tree

Our tree usually goes up in November (yes…..I am usually in a Christmas-y mood in November) but this year….we were late in putting up the tree. But better late than never right I suppose…. So last thursday, when I got home from work, (Hubs picked the kids up from MIL’s), I decided to take out our Christmas tree from the store room and set it up without the decorations and waited for everyone to arrive home. When the Hubs and the kids got home, I wanted to surprise Ashley and asked her to close her eyes as I carried her from the car into the house. She obliged. When we got in, I asked her to open her eyes….

Ashley : (Opened her eyes and looked puzzled) Mommy, why (did) you ask me to close my eyes?

Mommy : Because I wanted to surprise you

Ashley : Surprise?

So ok. She doesn’t quite understand what ’surprise’ meant. Better luck next year. When I told her that we were going to decorate the tree together, she was excited!

And when we placed pressies under the tree, she took all of them to her play table and wanted to open all of them. We told her that she could only open it after Christmas. So she left the pressies on her play table and warned us all that her pressies were untouchable - by us of course.

and while Ashley was busy decorating the Christmas tree, what was Aidan up to?

let’s just say that Aidan was ‘exploring’ his mobility on the living room floor.

Aidan giving the what-are-you-looking-at look….

The lil tauke can now sorta crawl. When he’s lying flat on his tummy, he’d move around by moving his hands and wiggling his legs as though he’s attempting to do the free style.

So what else happened while we were on a blog break????

I got my other 2 wisdom teeth (top and bottom) extracted last Monday! I had the other 2 extracted 2 years back. I was nervous at first…..although there was no pain during the actual extraction and surgery, the place where the bottom tooth was was hurting a bit. Anyhow, when I got home from the dentist that day, Ashley was waiting for me at home with Grandma and Grandp and Aidan (of course)….when she saw me, she immediately looked at my mouth and noticed that I didn’t open my mouth much when I spoke to her. The cheeky girl then went on….

Ashley : Mommy? Is your mouth painful?

Mommy : (mumbled) Yes…

Ashley : Mommy, try and open your mouth? Show me your teeth?

Mommy : (mumbled) cannot…

Ashley : Mommy? try and smile?

Obviously she got a kick out of making me miserable…:P

..and Ashley…

1. Turned 30 months

2. and got a stomach flu

(Click here for credits and layout)

2.5 years old

Lil Missy turned 2.5 years old on 2 Dec 2007. Oh boy! At this age…..it’s tough to keep track of her developments. Everyday is a surprise for us. She never cease to amaze us with her abilities to talk, negotiate and reason. In addition to that, she’d surprise us every other day with new songs/jingles which she had probably picked up from her dear cousin, Bridget while at MIL’s house during the day.

Among the new songs she can sing are :

- our national anthem! - Negaraku!

- Jingle Bells

- We wish you a Merry Christmas

And she picked up a jingle which does not make sense at all (to me anyways). It goes like this :

‘Salapa, titikua, kasilapakua’

Does that make any sense to you? The lil missy was buy playing with her own set of arts and crafts set which her Uncle Terence bought for her one day and she started to sing this little jingle. It’s kinda catchy and yes - it’s in my head all the time now! It has takne over Barney songs in my head! (How sad does that sound?)

Nasty Stomach Flu

On another note, Ashley got the stomach flu while we were on a blog break! The poor lil missy woke up one morning and puked on the pillow. I looked at the contents of her puke and there were remnants of her dinner she had the night before. So I thought - indigestion. Then throughout the day at MIL’s, the poor lil missy puked and puked and puked. She couldn’t take in anything. Not even water. By evening, she had a fever and I brought her to the paed that night. The doc diagnosed her and gave her a bottle of flat 100plus, fever meds and meds for vomitting and wind. Throughout the night, the poor lil missy puked and puked and it continued till the next day. She was thirsty but couldn’t drink as much water as she liked. Poor gal. After the 2nd day, her vomitting stopped but she started to get diarrhea for the next 3-4 days. The poor lil missy had hardly anything to eat while she was unwell but only non-lactose milk. Although she lost about 1kg, she looked so thin. Her cheeks were sunken and her rib bones were protruding our of her body - for the very first time!  Her usual clothes were lose and it was quite freaky to see that clothes that were initially too tight for her were too loose on her! She was obviously weak all the time and she had frequent naps. She’d say,” Mommy, I’m so tired. I want to sleep.” Anyhow, that is over now. She has gained back her weight. Her cheeks are puffing up again. She’s all well now. Thank God!

Grandma, Grandpa

When the lil missy recovered, Grandma and Grandpa came over to KL for a couple of days for Aaron’s Baptism and also early birthday celebration. More updates in the later posts…

back..for a bit…and while I was on a blog break…Aidan turned 7 months!

Posted on December 14, 2007

*stretccchhhh*

Yup, I’m back..for a short while before my blog goes for a Christmas break :) As of 5:30pm today, I am officially on leave till the end of the year. *Heaves a huge sigh of relieve* So from now till 2 Jan 2008, work will be a distant memory - temporarily, and I can focus on the year end holidays.

(Click here for credits and layout) - The photo above is another installment of Aidan’s Good Morning photos….

My Lil Taukeh (Aidan) turned 7 months! I’m so enjoying Aidan being a baby right now so much so that I am already starting to miss him when he grows out of this baby phase! At 7 months….

- he is a whooping 9.3KG

- two of his lower front teeth are out

- he’s not quite crawling yet. He’s more like pivotting on his taukeh-belly and uses his hand to manouvre his way around when he is lying flat on his tummy

- he drinks 7oz every 3 hours

- I’ve started him on a some cereal - just a few spoonful for taste before he drinks his milk during lunch time. I’ve yet to start him on porridge (Will do it after Xmas :) )

- he has huge legs of which Hubs reckons they look like snooker table legs!

- he responds very well to us calling out for him

- he is such an easy baby. I think it’s part of the effect of a middle-child syndrome. He can sleep on his own. He doesn’t need to be carried to sleep.

- he loves to bang his hands on the table when he’s sitting on our laps by the table

- he hasn’t started to crawl nor sit up on his own yet…but I think he’ll be doing that in no time!:)

- he is so easily amused and tickles easily. I love the sound of his laughter and giggles when I run my hair over his face. He’d close his eyes and enjoy the ticklish feeling of my hair on his face. Yeee! What a cutie pie!

A couple of days ago, I brought out the Bumbo chair from the store and let the Aidan sit in it. He immediately straightened his legs when I attempted to sit him in the chair. After awhile, he relented.

(Photo taken on 11 Dec 2007)

So he sat in it for awhile and watched the tele before he started to fidget and straightened his legs again - an indication that he wanted out!:)
