I took 2 days off early this week to take care of the kiddos because my FIL had to go for an eye operation and hence my MIL was not able to handle the kids on her own - especially with her current hip condition. I bought Ashley a couple of activity books so that she could keep herself occupied….

off to the paed…

We brought Aidan to the paed to get his Prevenar jab - vaccination against pneumococal. All was fine and dandy until the paed gave him his jab and he instantly changed from being a cheery babe to a crying babe. Oh my poor lil taukeh! Thankfully he only cried for less than a minute. Meanwhile, while the paed was checking Aidan, the lil missy was by his side all the while like a little bodyguard. And when Aidan cried, Ashley was there to comfort his little brother. It gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside of me when I see how loving Ashley is towards Aidan.

Weight : 9.3KG

Head circumference : 43.something cm…(can’t remember)

The paed said that his weight is ok for now and that a good weight for a 1 year old would be 10-11kg. So since this lil taukeh is only 6 months + old…..we’re going to maintain his milk intake for now.

Before we reached the paed’s clinic, we told Ashley…

Mommy : Ashley, we are going to see Dr. L

Ashley : Why? Aidan is sick?

Mommy : No Aidan is not sick. Aidan needs to get an injection. Do you want one too?

Ashley : No. I am not sick….

..go check out this new store. I’ve had several scrapbooking questions which came my way recently. Some of you may know that I was a Guest Creative Team (GCT) member for [ksharonkdesigns]. Anyhow, after my 3-month stint of being a GCT member was up at the end of Oct, Sharon has graciously agreed to invite her current CT and GCT members to be a CT member for her new shoppe which she and Megan started. There is an opening sale at the store……go check it out!!! I’m so glad  to be able to work with such talented people!

weekend at ipoh

Last weekend, we decided attended a wedding dinner of an old ex-uni mate of ours (Hubs and I are from the same university) at Ipoh. Since it was on a saturday night, we decided to stay a night at the hotel where the wedding was held. The food was GREAT! The hotel…well…let’s just say that it had his own days of glory like probably 10-15 years ago…. The road trip up north was smooth (Thankfully!).

(17 Nov 07) - When we arrived at the hotel room, we plonked the lil taukeh on the bed and he was in exploratory mode. Only thing was, our lil taukeh was not so mobile. He’s quite like a beached whale these days. He’d lie on his belly and both his arms and legs will be wiggling in the air but he’d get no where - hence the beached whale

When we were all dressed up and ready to go..the lil taukeh was already getting a bit restless….

I asked the lil missy to pose next to the lil taukeh but as usual…these days…she doesn’t want to entertain mommy with the camera anymore and she’d do something else on purpose.

Before we headed back to KL on sunday, we had the infamous Kai-si-sa-hor-fun and tau-geh at one of the coffee shops at Ipoh town. Thankfully, the kiddos were manageable during our road trip.

 

2 weekends ago…

..we were invited to the lil dude’s home for a Hari Raya open house. When we got there…the lil missy was sooooo quiet….she concentrated on eating whatever that was on the table.

(10 Nov 07) - The lil missy eating her lychees…

Soon after we arrived, we met Jayden, Rachel and Shern. The lil missy was extremely quiet and hardly mumbled a word! After makan-makan, we decided to have some fun at a nearby park.

Ashley went up the stairs at the playground and what did she say instead? “Yee Mommy…..so dirty” - pointing to the little tunnel where the kids are supposed to walk through to get to the other end…

and I asked her to smile and what does she do????

She gives me this monkey-face pose of hers.

After coaxing her to smile, she finally managed to give me this forced smile of hers…

After the park, we went back to the Lil Dude’s house and the kids continued to play in the playroom. Here’s a picture of Ashley with the handsome Shern.

The Lil Dude decided to join in the fun after awhile….

and not forgetting my lil taukeh!

We wanted to leave for another party but the lil missy only started to warm up after 3 hours at the Lil Dude’s place! We didn’t want to ruin her fun but in the end, we had to leave to Uncle Chris’s house.

When Ashley reached Uncle Chris’s house, she was all fired up! She was dancing, singing and even knelt down on her knees, closed her eyes, raised her hands and sang the ‘Our Father’! and insisted that I follow suit!

At the dinner table, Ashley found her place, took a stool and brought it to her end of the table, stood on it to get onto her chair! Notice that she has her own set of cutleries and she was so pleased with it.

After dinner…we all relaxed while Ashley entertained us all with her antics.

..and while Ashley was busy being the lime light…the Lil Taukeh was sitting on Uncle Terence’s lap feeling very contented.

Mommy : Ashley, give some to Mommy…

Ashley : I hold ok? You cannot hold…

I held out my hand to hold the bottle of Vitagen which she was holding…

Ashley : No…Mommy cannot hold! I hold!

Mommy : Why not?

Ashley : Because Mommy beat me just now

Mommy : And why did Mommy beat you just now?

Ashley : Because Mommy naughty.

That lil head of hers is sitting firmly on those shoulders and she sure has her mind of her own.

“Because Aidan wants me..”

Yesterday, Aidan was crying and fussing around…(because he was sleepy…)

Mommy : Why is Aidan crying? Can you please go and check on him?

Ashley : Ohhhhh…Aidan!…….(while touching his cheeks…)

Mommy : Why is Aidan crying??

Ashley : Because Aidan wants me…

Tired…

One morning, as Ashley and I walked down the staircase in our house hand-in-hand, she stopped after taking 2 steps …

Mommy : What’s wrong with you? Why did you stop?

Ashley : I’m tired…

But I reckon she was just pulling my leg so that I could carry her down the stairs instead. Cheeky monkey she is…

Choosing a maid…

We are currently looking for a replacement maid for my in-laws. Last night, we were choosing between 2 Indonesian maids from the measly looking ‘resume’ given to us by the maid agency….So it was a choice between a petite sized lady and a not-so-petite lady…

Mama (my mil) : Ashley…which kakak would you prefer?

Ashley looked at the photo of the petite lady and pointed to it and said..

Ashley : This is bad one.

Both MIL and I were surprised….

Ashley looked at the photo of the not-so-petite lady and said…

Ashley : I like this one

So which one did MIL choose? After much deliberation….MIL chose the petite one for whatever reasons…

So we’re crossing our fingers and praying!

Justine vs Maria

While watching the WTA championship finals between Maria Sharapova and Justine Henin….

Mommy : Which girl do you like? This one (pointing to Justine) or this one (point to Maria)?

She pointed to Justine and said…

Ashley : This one!

Mommy : This girl’s name is Justine

Ashley : Justine

Mommy : and this girl is called Maria

Ashley : NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

So apparently..Maria is only meant for our maid whom we sent back home in June……

Mommy : Ok ok..this girl’s name is Sharapova

She was ok with the response. Phew!

Ashley : This boy always cry…..and (pointing to another boy) I made this boy cry…

Daddy : Why did you make him cry?

Ashley : Because he played with my bag….

*slap head*

On another note…In the spirit of Deepavali, I decided to get her a top for the occasion (although we don’t celebrate Deepavali but those who don’t celebrate it tumpang it anyway cause everyone’s on holiday right?). Hubs asked her to smile at his camera phone so that he could snap a nice picture of her and what does the Lil Missy do instead?

Our sleeping arrangements are usually like this :

Aidan -> Ashley -> Me -> Hubs

One day, Hubs and I swapped places. She woke up in the morning and screamed for me, ” Mommy!!!!!” She climbed over Hubs and snuggled next to me.

In the evening, while playing, she casually said..

Ashley : Mommy don’t want me anymore….(sounding really sad..what a drama queen she is…)

Hubs : Why???

Ashley : Because Mommy sleep with Daddy…..Mommy don’t want me anymore…..So sad!….(and then she lowered her head and looked so sad…

Hubs : You sleep with Daddy then ok?

Ashley : Don’t want…..

what happened in mid-air…

As some of you may already know, while the Hubs and I were off scuba diving 2 weeks ago, my parents were in town for a tour of duty. Anyways, my parents are  back at Sabah since Sunday. They flew back via MAS. Their flight was at 2.30pm or so……At about 4pm, my dad smsed me and said that they were back at KLIA! Why? This was what happened :

- Half an hour into the flight, in mid-air, there was a loud explosion - obviously it came from the plane

- People panicked

- The captain then announced to all the passengers on board that they were turning back to KLIA.

Apparently when they landed, (this is my dad’s version), MAS informed them that one of turbines was conked. All the passengers were given food coupons and had to wait for a 7pm ish flight - which was a different plane altogether and finally reached home safe, in one piece at 10ish pm. My dad was cool. Flustered but cool. My mom freaked out and was shaken by the whole incident the whole day and couldn’t sleep very well that night. Thank God the plane didn’t catch fire in mid-air otherwise….

The next day, I looked through the newspapers and there wasn’t a single story about it. How is it that a plane in that condition was allowed to take off? We’re not talking about any budget airlines here but we’re talking about an airline whereby the local Malaysians have to pay a premium to fly with…..What’s wrong with the equation here?
