aidan is with grandma and grandpa
Posted on October 30, 2007
So my FIL has something on tomorrow and my MIL, who by the way is walking with an aid from a walking stick will obviously not be able to take care of the kiddos on her own….and so we decided to scoot Aidan off to stay with Grandma and Grandpa (who are currently at my sister’s place) for one night. On our way there after dinner, Ashley fell asleep in the car and she completely missed all the goodbyes we said to Aidan. *sigh* This will be our first night without Aidan….When we reached home, she woke up and I asked her…
Mommy : Where’s Aidan?
Ashley looked left and then right…..
Ashley : Where is Aidan????
Mommy : Aidan is with Grandma and Grandpa. Aidan will sleep with Grandma and Grandpa.
I thought she’d cry or feel abit sad but no…she wasn’t even bothered that Aidan was not with us! *slap head*
The lil taukeh is now more vocal. He has reached the stage where he likes to say,”aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa ahhhhhhhhhhh aaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaah”. He sounds so darn cute!
My sis passed us this pair of socks when Aaron couldn’t fit into them anymore. One day, I put it on for Aidan….
and he was so fascinated by it!

during the long Hari Raya weekend…
Posted on October 27, 2007
..we decided to bring Ashley to my sister’s place for a dip in a swimming pool (since Hubs and I were going to undulge ourselves in scuba diving at Tioman the week after that…)
(14 Oct 07)
She was ecstatic! After a while, she wanted to get out of the big float and use the floaties on her arms. She even wanted to go into the adult pool which I did let her go in (with her arm floaties of course….) I held her hands - not knowing whether she’d be able to keep her head above the water eventhough she had the floaties because I remember the last time she used it when we went to Avillion and she couldn’t paddle her legs to keep her head above the water. This time, she said,
Ashley : Mommy, don’t hold my hands…
Mommy : Ok..but paddle your feet ok?
Ashley : Ok
And I let go of her hands and she practically squeeled with glee! She was so happy to be in the pool. And while Ashley was having all the fun in the pool, what was our lil tau-ke (boss) up to?……..
Aidan was chilling, watching the tele. We did intend to bring him to the pool. Notice those groovy swim shorts of his (Thanks Koon Pek!!!) BUT….the lil tau-ke had a slight temperature so he skipped dipping in the pool that day.
And after swimming….Ashley decided to invade play in Aaron’s play-pen..
After dinner at my sister’s place, we all drove home in peace - cause the kids were sound asleep in the car on the way back home.. ![]()

(Click here for credits) - what do I love about this photo? those are aidan’s cute tiny feet and i love the groovy cordruoys on him!
for all your comments and suggestions in my previous post….
Nursery/Nanny option
Yes, we have considered nurseries…but you know, after having family take care of our kids since day 1 - it’s just soooooo hard to let go and let a non-family member take care of them. It’s different if we initially started sending them to a nanny from day 1 but now…I have trust issues when it comes to someone else taking care of the kid(s) - unless we send him to a really close family friend whom we are fond of then it’s ok..but for now….I just find it so difficult to let him go…Neeeeeevertheless, if you have any good nurseries/nannies to recommend for the time being, please email me!
Extension of tour of duty?
My parents, well, they need to head back after their tour of duty here in KL coz
- my dad is in the middle of renovating his ’holiday villa’ (or so he calls it…) and he had to halt it when they got summoned for duty here at KL
- Christmas is round the corner and my mom is usually on full gear in the kitchen, baking cakes for sale
So..No..they can’t stay here for long….
We’re getting a replacement maid but that’s another storey altogether i.e. we are going through the process of choosing the maid ya dah ya dah ya dah and the works…but that’s a long term solution. I need an immediate solution at least until the end of the year.
So the last resort …would be to send the lil tau-ke off to the Land Below the Wind to stay with my parents *SIGH*….
We’re still trying to work out what other options we have before resorting to the lasssst resort …
On another note….
….while Grandma and Grandpa were on duty taking care of the kiddos last weekend, we were having a swell time underwater…!

When we got back, I took Monday off. Cousin Aaron and his mama came over for a visit that day and we managed to snap a photo of all the kids together…
(Aaron - 10mo, Ashley - 2y 4m, Aidan - 5m)
Notice that Ashley and Aaron were looking elsewhere? Well.. Auntie Carol (my sis) was making a fool of herself to attract their attention….Looks like the lil tau-ke wasn’t too impressed with Auntie Carol and was more interested in sucking his fingers!:)
So when Ashley and Aaron were got together…..they played together…
…and then like most kids’ play, accidents are bound to happen. Aaron knocked his head on the floor and at the same time, Ashley’s finger somehow got caught underneath Aaron and what happened next????
Aaron cried probably because his mama shrieked a wee bit.
Why did Ashley cry? Well, I guess she got scared. She thought she made Aaron fall and cry and she cried - plus her fingers were stuck under Aaron. So how do 2 crying kiddos look like?

cutting his first 2 teeth
Posted on October 26, 2007

Yup! Our boy is cutting his first 2 bottom front teeth! No wonder……..Aidan was pooing a few times a day…then we thought perhaps the milk didn’t agree with him and what not…then out of the blue, my mom said as a matter-of-factly that Aidan might be teething and both hubs and I were like “Ya kan?” We never thought about that. And true enough, when we felt his lower gums, we could feel both his front bottom teeth were cutting through his gums. He has been biting on his fingers and salivating alot but it all didn’t occur to us that he may be teething. DUH! So this means he is cutting his first tooth a month earlier than Ashley.
MIL & FIL
On another note….We’re in a bit of a sticky situation here….MIL sort of twisted her hip one day when carrying Ashley out of her cot bed. When she went to have it examined, the doc x-rayed and all and said that there is a hair line crack on her hip bone. Kaboom! Our support system is crashing on us. My MIL is using a tongkat (walking stick) now and I have to work from home more since she can’t really handle Aidan - carrying and the bathing and all…. She can still handle Ashley with my FIL since Ashley can walk and is less dependant on them. And to add to that, my FIL will be going for an eye operation sometime in Nov and he’ll be a one-eye jack for awhile….so…now, we’re scrambling for my replacement maid to come in soon to help out with my in laws. Yes, we’re getting a replacement maid who will be staying with my in laws this time. So at the meantime…..we may have to send Aidan off to Sabah with my parents when they go back in a week’s time. Boo Hoo! or not…. nevertheless we need to work out how we can look after 2 kids without my in laws first. Last resort is to send Aidan back to KK with my parents. I can’t bear the thought of not seeing him till Christmas though! cause that would mean that I will miss him when he’s 6 and 7 months old! So as you can see, we’re in a bit of a sticky situation at the moment…and we’re trying to find the best solution and not having to part of any of the kiddos for an extended period while my in laws recuperate….*fingers crossed*

we’re back!
Posted on October 24, 2007
The break was good! Much needed actually…especially with 2 kids in da house! (okok Aidan, Ashley…when you’re old enough to read this….please don’t take any offence in this…you were in good hands anyways with Grandma and Grandpa…)
The weather was great! (Although I heard that it was raining cats and dogs in the city…)
The diving was the best so far since we last dove (is that a word?? Past tense of dive?) at Sipadan in 2004.
The visibility underwater was excellent! (15m - 20m)
What we saw was the highlight of our trip ……………….
(Photos courtesy of Anil S. He was the one with the underwater camera…)
Yea baby! We saw a manta ray at Labas!
We went to several places to dive…
Chebeh, Malang Rock, Renggis, Tiger Reef, Labas and Soyak.
Ok so Tioman can’t beat Sipadan but we haven’t been to any other sites better than Sipadan - yet. But during this trip, we saw a couple of things which we have not seen before like :
- different kinds of nudibranches
- a cuttlefish about 1.5 times the size of a football
- a giant pufferfish about 2m in length! I thought it was a garoupa but no..it was a giant pufferfish…
- a giant garoupa abot 2 m in length - and no I’ve not seen that one as big as that before - not even at Sipadan.
So who took care of the kiddos while we were having fun underwater? My parents came over for their tour of duty. They babysat Ashley and Aidan and after that, they’re off to my sis’s place to babysit Aaron while she and her hubs holiday at Paris. So yea..my parents are ON DUTY
They did a fab job though! While we were away, my dad constantly took photos of the kids using his camera phone and sent them via mms to me. It was very enlightening. A few days before our trip, I psyched Ashley up that we were going to dive so she was ok about it. But then, 5 mins before we left the house, she fell asleep. So we didn’t managed to bid her farewell. When she woke up 1 hour later, we were already gone and she SCREAMED and almost tore the house down….My parents said she said something like :
Ashley : I want mommy!!!! I want mommy carry hair!!!!
Grandma : Mommy and Daddy went off already……
Ashley : I don’t want grandma! Grandma go back to Sabah!! I want mommy! Wah wah wah!
Grandma : Ok I’ll call mommy.
Ashley : I want mommy here!
Oh dear…my mom called me over the phone and I could hear her crying in the background. The next day, she was all fine and dandy. Phew! We did promise her that we will buy her presents….and she made sure we didn’t forget it either. She’d speak to us over the phone and say, “Where are my presents? Did you buy?”
Aidan on the other hand was oblivous to everything. We were glad to be back and to see the kids. We missed them dearly!
On the way back from Tekek Jetty (Tioman) to Mersing, I met Malaika’s mom. What a small small world….

PPP : Christmas is coming!
Posted on October 24, 2007
It’s the time of the year again….the holiday cheer is slowly but surely spreading! It’s time to start buying Christmas presents for our kids, family and loved ones (friends included of course!) I personally like to start shopping for presents early so that it doesn’t make a big hole in my pocket by the time it’s Christmas. On the top of my shopping lists are stuff to buy for my kids and nieces and nephews. Every year, I make sure that I get something unique and interesting. I am usually not into buying toys of kids but I like to buy clothing for kids. To buy kids’ clothing at an affordable price, I usually check out coupon deals online. I’d usually check out the Gal deals and also Old Navy deals. To find out other coupon deals available, check out it out online now!

to school without..

(Click here for layout and credits)
diapers! Yup! Last week, I decided to let Ashley go diaperless at school since she was already diaperless at home and when we go out. I was pretty nervous for her last week. I was afraid of a couple of things…
- I was afraid that she may embarass herself in front of her friends who were mostly toilet trained..
- I was afraid that she may be shy to tell her teacher that she wanted to pee..
- I was afraid that when she does tell the teacher that she wanted to pee that the teacher brought her to the loo on time as she can’t hold her pee for long. When she says she wants to pee..it is almost immediate!
So, off I sent her to school on Monday last week with :
- 3 diapers in her bag (juuussst in case)
- a pair of slippers (just in case she wets herself including her socks and shoes)
- 3 pairs of undies
- 2 sets of clothing
- a packet of wet wipes
So on the first day, she peed abit in her undies while she was doing her colouring in the classroom. The teacher had to bring her to the loo to finish peeing and change her undies.
From the second day onwards, she didn’t have to change her undies at school - which is a good progress. The teacher bring the kids to the loo every 20-30 mins.
So now I can safely say that Ashley is 100% toilet trained and diaper free! hip! hip! hooray!
