lil missy’s better….

Posted on September 29, 2007

Her ulcers have been gone since Thursday so that’s a good sign….

It was my turn to work on Friday…

Noticed that all the red spots around her mouth, arms and knees are all dried up *phew*

When I wanted to give her the medication to administer on her ulcers in her mouth, she said,

Ashley : No mommy. No more painful.

Mommy : Are you sure?

Ashley : Yes

When I had a look in her mouth, the ulcers were indeed gone! Yay!

Her runny nose looks as though it has all dried up - so that’s a good sign too.

And I definitely know she was feeling better when she said,

Ashley : Mommy I want food. I want vege.

Mommy : You’re hungry?

Ashley : I want vege

I basically jumped for joy. It meant her appetite was back and the poor gal must be so hungry.

To answer Oscar’s mommy - Yes, we gave her vanilla ice cream everyday! She loves it. I bet she now thinks that she can have all the goodies when she’s sick :P

These were some of the memorable moments we had yesterday…

Lil Missy’s Art of Negotiation

Ashley : Mommy I want vitagen

Mommy : Again?????? (She was asking for a second one)

Ashley : Yes…

Mommy : You’ve drank one already.

Ashley : Mommy I want two, k?

Mommy : You haven’t even drank your milk. Are you going to drink your milk after that?

Ashley : Yes. Promise ok? Promise. (and she interlocked her pinky finger with mine)

Mommy : So you’re going to drink your milk right after you finish your vitagen?

Ashley : Afterwards, k? (which means she is not going to drink the milk immediately after finishing the vitagen but she’d drink the milk later on…)

Pampering Mommy..

Towards the evening, I had a terrible migrane. My right eye felt as though it was going to pop out of its socket! I had my finger pressed onto my forehead..

Ashley : Mommy why???

Mommy : Mommy’s got a headache…

Ashley : Headache? Ok..you rest ok???

Operating the DVD player

The Lil Missy is soo proud of herself (and so are we :) ) that she can operate the DVD player. She knows how to press the stop button, eject button, take the DVD out and put a DVD of her choice into the player, press the close button and press the play button! Once she was done with it, she said,”Mommy! I can put! See!? I can put!” At first I didn’t know what she was talking about until I saw the Simpsons cartoon on the tele.

..Lil Missy has been sleeping through the night without diapers! Hurray! ANd each time she pees in the potty or WC, she’d say, “Got sound? house full of sick kiddos

Posted on September 26, 2007

(Click here for credits) - Photo of Aidan taken right after his bath.

Today was Hub’s turn to stay home with Ashley while I went to the office. I dropped Aidan off at my MIL’s house on the way to the office. Ashley and I had to sleep in the guest room - separate from Hubs and Aidan to minimise Ashley’s interaction with Aidan. Both Ashley and I slept on a queen sized bed which was not against a wall - meaning there was a risk that Ashley may fall off the bed and indeed, she fell off the bed in the middle of the night! Thankfully, I did line some pillows next to Ashley at the edge of the bed and also  on the floor so she didn’t have a hard fall. She did however got a shock…

Ashley : (crying)

Mommy : It’s ok (I carried her up and brought her onto the bed again)

Ashley : I don’t want daddy! I want mommy!

Mommy : This is mommy.

She then calmed down and dozed off not long after that. Phew!

Ashley said that her mouth doesn’t hurt anymore -which only means that the ulcers are subsiding. Phew!

However….*huge sigh*..Aidan woke up with a fever. According to Hubs, the poor boy woke up every 2-3 hours last night (double *phew* for me since I was sleeping with Ashley and had uninterrupted sleep except for her falling off the bed) because of his runny nose…It’s tough handling sick kids. It’s tough not being able to carry Aidan as much as I can of fear that I may transfer the HFM virus from Ashley to him since I was the one handling Ashley the whole day yesterday. Can’t wait for them to get well again so that I don’t have to prevent Ashley from kissing her brother and so that I can hug and carry Aidan to my heart’s content!

Lil Missy with HFM!

Posted on September 25, 2007

(Click here for credits) - Lil Missy was enjoying her biscuits while watching her fav cartoon character - the purple dinosaur - Barney.

My Lil Missy has HFM! On Sunday, after attending Shannon’s 3rd birthday party (how time flies…it was just like yesterday when we attended Shannon’s 1st Birthday party..) I noticed that Ashley had some red spots around her lips. Hubs and I thought it was due to the nnumerous amount fo jelly she walloped during the party. On Sunday evening, after coming back from the party, I decided to feed her her porridge since she hadn’t had a proper meal during the party. The porridge was only a teeny bit warm but when I fed Ashley, she fussed about and said that it was hot. I thought she was just trying to get away without eating her porridge and so I scolded her. She cried. I warned her. She fussed. I counted 1 to 3 and then she still didn’t want to stop fussing and I put her in the naughter corner and told her to come back to me when she decides to eat her dinner. She cried at the naughty corner. (Poor gal and I felt bad but held on and never gave in…) After a while she came up to me, sobbing.

Mommy : You want to eat your dinner now?

Ashley : (She nodded her head while sobbing)

After a few spoons full, she refused to eat. I gave in.

The next morning (Monday morning), I gave her her usual 8oz of milk when she woke up. As soon as she started to drink the milk, she complained that there was something wrong with the teat. I looked at the and it was fine and asked her to drink her milk. Again, when she put the teat to her mouth, she screeched.

Ashley : Pain-pain…

Mommy : Not pain-pain. PainFUL. Where painful?

Ashley : Here (she pointed to the insides of her mouth)

I asked her to open her mouth but I couldn’t really see any ulcers but I suspected that she had ulcers cause when I tried to feel the ceiling of her mouth, she screeched in pain. BUT I still couldn’t see anything…..and so I got her ready for school. In the car, she asked for water and when she started to drink water, she screeched in pain again. Then I thought something must be wrong and I SOOOO hoped that it wasn’t HFM. I drove her straight to the paed and the doc confirmed that it was HFM. ARGH!! This is something which I so dread for it not to happen and it did! To my poor girl! So the doc said to let her eat some ice cream or drink some cold drinks so that it’d numb mouth so that the ulcers won’t sting so bad. Doc also said to give her cool stuff and not warm stuff as it may aggravate her ulcers. ARGH! Then I thought - what a BAD MOM I am! I scolded her for not wanting to eat her porridge last night and even drove her to the naughty corner! ARGH! Felt like slapping myself then for being so darn insensitive and selfish! and she willingly obliged and ate the porridge after sitting at the naughty corner for awhile…SIGH!

Anyways, Hubs and I have to take turns to work from home so that either one of us can be with Ashley while Aidan is at my MIL’s during the day. We want to minimise her interactions with her brother and also with her cousin, Bridget at my MIL’s place. Another of her schoolmate had the same symptoms of HFM so we suspect that there is an outbreak  of HFM at her kindy.

While Ashley is in the middle of this HFM drama, poor Aidan has the runny nose and a dry cough….*sigh*…

lil missy and her muscles

Posted on September 25, 2007

When I was standing in front of the bathroom mirror with Ashley, she looked into the mirror, pulled her sleeve up to her shoulder and said, “Look mommy! I got muscles! I got big muscles!” Geess..dunno where she learnt that from….

Bad mommy….

This afternoon, when I was feeding her her lunch, she fussed about with me…so I sent her to the naughter corner and she willingly walked over and sat at the bottom of the stair case…

Mommy : Don’t come over until you decide you want to eat your lunch.

Ashley : (sobbed and nodded her head)

After 2 mins…she walked over to me…

Mommy : You want to eat now?

Ashley : (Sobbed) Yes…sorry mommy

Ahh..she melted my heart! BAD MOMMY!

lil missy’s porridge

Posted on September 24, 2007

At 2 years 3 months, Lil Missy is still eating her guey porridge. We let her eat together with us as well but I always felt that she doesn’t really eat properly when she eats whatever we eat (maybe because we eat rubbish! heheh). That’s why, everyday, she’ll still have porridge for lunch and dinner and also join us to eat this and that whenever we have our meals. In that porridge I cooked for her last weekend, it had fish, spinach, a bit of onions, carrots, tomatos, potatoes, ginger and ikan bilis in her porridge. I always tell her that after eating her porridge, she’d be able to eat whatever that she likes cause I know she’d get all the nutrition she needs in her guey porridge :)

On 11 Aug 07, some bloggers met up at Marmalade, BV II for Yvonne and family’s farewell. So Hubs and I decided to bring the whole gang to the gathering i.e. Lil Missy and the Lil Michelin Boy….

As usual, Lil Missy takes awhile to warm up….and in this picture, she was at the playarea observing what other kids were doing…

Ashley loved her lunch…

And while everyone was having fun, Aidan was having his own fun in dreamland….

and yes… he slept throughout the whole thing…
