I’m trying to…

Posted on May 31, 2007

potty train the lil missy since I will be home for the next 5 weeks while I am on maternity leave. Twin paid us a visit 2 days ago and mentioned that both her kids were potty trained at 18 months! So ok..since Ashley is close to touching 2 in 2 days, I thought I’d give it a shot since I will be home most of the time now that I am on maternity leave. It is not my intention to rush her to be potty trained but I thought I should  initiate it….

Round 1

My dad bought Ashley a potty last year but we never got round to using it on Ashley. So I took out the spanking new potty from the store room and introduced it to Ashley.

Mommy : Ashley, if you want to she-she (pee) or ng-ng (poo), let mommy know ok? Mommy will let you sit on the potty.

She looked abit puzzled. So I demonstrated it with her baby doll. I sat her baby doll on the potty and said, “ng-nggggg….ng-ngggg”. Then I think she got the picture.

10 minutes later, while we were all doing our own stuff, I suddenly heard Ashley saying “ng-ngggggg” I looked to where she was and guess what? Get this. (BTW I’m hitting myself for not having my camera handy at that time) Ashley was standing beside the potty. On the potty was her baby doll. Ashley was standing next to the potty. She supported herself by holding the safety gate with her right hand, her left hand was on her hips, she stood on her right foot and her left foot crossed over the right foot. She stood there, looked down at the baby doll and said, “ng-ngggggggg….ng-ngggggg” with the get-on-with-it look. We couldn’t help but laughed at what she was doing.

Round 2

This morning, when Ashley woke up and showed signs of taking a dump, I decided to let her sit on the WC…

Mommy : Ashley, come…let’s ng-ng at the toilet bowl ok?

Ashley : Ok. Ash-nee take out diaper.

And she took out her diaper herself and I sat her on the WC.

Mommy : ng-ngggg….ng-ngggggg…

After a few farts, she decided that doing it on the WC was not for her.

Ashley : Doe-wan ng-ng…

Mommy : Ok. When you want to ng-ng, let mommy know ok? Mommy will bring you to the toilet bowl.

Ashley : Ok.

A few hours later, she pooed in her diaper. *sigh*

Round 3

After she pooed this afternoon, I said to her…

Mommy : Ashley, next time you want to ng-ng, let mommy know. Mommy will bring you to the toilet bowl.

Ashley : Doe-wan.

Mommy : Why?

Ashley : Toilet bowl too big

Mommy : (stunned)

So my next mission is to get her a potty. The one my dad bought last year is too small…anyone knows which ones to get for a 2yo?

life as a non preggy mom…

Posted on May 31, 2007

After being pregnant for 9 months, and after giving birth to Aidan, the first few things I suddenly realize, as a non preggy mom (apart from having a new addition to our family) is that I could actually hold my pee longer than before and when I do relief myself, alot of pee actually comes out! - as opposed to having to go relief myself every hour while I was preggy and when I do, only abit comes out!

Also the vain me kicked in….I can now :

- think about buying non-preggy clothing (as opposed to looking at my maternity clothes for the past months every morning and trying to decide which one to wear!)

- put some life into my mop of hair and get it highlighted!

- sleep in whatever position that I want as opposed to sleeping on my right hand side only…

- start wearing heels again…

- now trim my toe nails - comfortably!

- walk like a normal person as opposed to waddling like a duck at a snail’s pace (I was walking at a snail’s pace esp during my last trimester)

- all my Island Shop punjabi/baju kurung insprired tops can go to rest. I was wearing those kind of tops alot with jeans/pants cause that was the only non-maternity looking clothing which I could fit which actually looked nice.

- plan for our next scuba diving destination or holiday!

Last night..

Posted on May 30, 2007

was a good night for Aidan and both his parents (of course). He didn’t have much wind problems last night..Hence it was a pretty smooth night for us. After his night feeds, he burped and slept. Only thing was, Hubs had the honour of cleaning up Aidan’s smelly-pooed diaper during his night shift. hehehheeh….Too bad mate…

Apart from that, Ashley has been pretty hyper and she is definitely in her terrible-two phase. Sometimes I’d lose my cool and wonder how I’m gonna survive bringing up 2 kids and endure my maid from la-la land!

If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys…

Posted on May 30, 2007

Yup this is about my maid …AGAIN!…. I am seriously considering kicking her skinny butt back to the agent. I don’t think I am paying peanuts. I paid a whooping RM6K all in all for the agency fees and advanced salary and what not….and on top of that, she will be getting a salary of RM500 from 7th month onwards…All I ask is for some decent common sense….but a dear friend told me once - “Don’t expect them to have some common sense cause their senses are not common to ours.” You’re so darn right girl! For example….(drawing deep breath…) after countless times of me instructing the maid NOT to give Ashley any food (i.e. biscuits, cheese etc as it may interrupt with her mealtimes), this morning, she decided to try for the upteenth time to win Ashley’s affections and decided to give her a piece of cheese. Ok….so cheese is fine….but not with the friggin’ plastic it’s NOT! My dad saw Ashley trying to devour the cheese with the plastic and then found out that it was the maid who gave the cheese WITH the plastic to Ashley. So you tell me? Are her senses common to ours? No prizes for the right answer…

PPP : PPP Direct

Posted on May 30, 2007

Those who are involved in PayPerPost, you’d be glad to know that PayPerPost.com has released a new version of PPP. Part one of the Birdo Release includes PPP Direct. So what is PPP Direct? Previously adviertisers will advertise the opportunities on PayPerPost.com for posties to pick up and write about at a certain price. With PPP Direct, advertisers can directly approach Posties to get them to write special blog posts. All you have to do, as posties  is to specifiy the minimal amount of you want to be paid for these direct opportunities and ensure that the widget  for PPP Direct is installed on your blog. When an advertiser finds your blog and decides to engage you to write a direct opportunity for them, all they would have to do is click on the widget and make you an offer. This way, the advertisers deals directly with the posties without having to go through PayPerPost.com as the middleman. The good thing about PPP Direct is that PPP Direct only charges a 10% fee, out of which 5% goes to the transaction fees for PayPal and credit card processing. Other PPP competitors like ReviewMe charge 50%-100% markup and keep up to half your money! So why should most of the money go to the middleman when you can get more with PPP Direct? Interesting concept? Find out more about PPP Direct now so that you can start earning more money from paid posts via your blog or blogs.

aidan is 3 weeks old today

Yup! I can still remember giving birth to Aidan as though it was yesterday and 3 weeks have already flew by so quickly! This means my measly maternity leave is almost halfway over…darn! Anyways…At 3 weeks..what can Lil Aidan do? Nothing much really…he sleeps, drinks, farts, pees, poos….that’s about it! He drinks breast milk during the day and formula milk during the night. He can now drink 3.5 - 4oz of milk and that would usually last him for 2 hours (for breast milk) and 3 hours (for formula milk). He still wakes up in the middle of the night at ungodly hours for his night feeds….and for some unexplainable reason, he poos only during the nights! He seems to be having problems expelling gas from his system and he’d usually be uncomfortable at night from 11ish pm - about 2ish am…dunno why….but it ain’t helping us to catch  up on sleep. Hopefully the situation improves as he gets bigger…

Since Aidan is my in-laws’ first grandson in the family, they’ve decided to host Aidan’s full moon party this weekend. By this weekend, he’d only be a few days shy of reaching the 4-week mark. I so dread full moon parties (for my kids) cause that’s when every Tom, Dick and Harry would want to carry and touch the lil one even before he gets his jabs to protect him from all kinds of viruses and what not…but anyway, it has to be done this weekend cause ya da ya da ya da….shan’t bore all with the details.

Ok so speaking of full moon party….that would be the first occassion I’d be getting my butt out of the house - which means I need to find something non-maternity which can actually fit me! ARGH!

this is….

Posted on May 28, 2007

our future!….Aunty Carol and Cousin Aaron came over to the house last week and we decided to take pictures of all the ‘grandkids’ - well..my parents’ grandkids if you may…

Aidan is doing well…getting bigger by the day..and his cries are definitely getting louder and more demanding. He sleeps like a beauty during the day but he doesn’t get a good night’s sleep during the night as that’s when he expels gas from his system and decide to poo several times in the night! So we are very much sleep deprived! The dark rings under my eyes are getting  bigger and rounder by the day.

So far, Ashley is coping well with the existence of her lil bro. These are some of the things she says….(and she’s rather protective mind you…)

Scene 1

When the maid clears some of the stuff on the table…

Ashley : Daddy’s one. Don’t take! Daddy’s one! kakakkkkk…..

Scene 2

If Ashley takes something she is not supposed to play with and we try to take it away from her, she’d raise one hand and say…

Ashley : No! Go (a)way Mommmmyyyy!

Scene 3

I introduced the potty to Ashley this morning. Somehow she seems to be terrified of the potty so I demonstrated to her how it should be used with her baby doll…then the maid walked by and Ashley said..

Ashley : Quiet! Baby oi-oi! Don’t disturb!

Yea….so…Ashley is not so taken by the maid. Each time the maid appears, Ashley tends to be very harsh with the maid..she’d say things like :

- Quiet!

- Go (a)way!

- Don’t disturb!

I don’t know why and how she developed these harsh behaviour towards the maid. We hardly ever say these kind of things to the maid! I hope Lil Missy is not turning into a Lil Monsta!
