mommy…enough!

(Click here for layout and credits) - Pics above were taken on 25 April 07. Ashley was bonding with her baby doll….

We bought Ashley one of those long biscuit sticks where you can dip it into some chocolate and eat it. On Sunday afternoon, we opened a packet for her so that she can endulge herself with it. We sat on the cushion on the floor infront of the tele. Ashley was sitting on my lap, leaning against my bump. I tried to pull out one biscuit stick and Lil Missy said in a low and scraggly voice,”Mommy? Enough! …Mommy? Enough!”

twinkle twinkle….

Posted on April 29, 2007

(Click here for layout and credits)  - we attended a friend’s wedding yesterday. When the bride walked down the church aisle, we all stood up….and while waiting for the bride to pass by, I snapped pics of Ashley instead…check out her smile..it’s the first time we saw her smile with her mouth closed!

Lately we noticed that Ashley has been repeating whatever we say to her when she is on her own .e.g while playing at her play table, she’d sing to herself, ‘Twinkle twinkle little star……”

I used to ask her what everyone’s name was……recently I overheard her say to herself while she was at her play table…

Ashley : Mommy’s name? . Daddy’s name? . Auntie’s name? . Baby’s name? Aaron………

Recently when Ashley met Aaron, he wasn’t feeling too well. He had a clogged nose and was asleep in his car seat. So we told him that Baby Aaron was not well, and that he was sleeping after taking his medicine…This mornning, when she woke up, she asked about Baby Aaron and said ,”Baby Aaron? Sleeping. Not well. Sick. Take medicine.”

Ashley and Maria

So far, so good.

Today, Maria was trying to clean up Ashley’s mess after she fed herself some yoghurt. Ashley was not very pleased with Maria and when Maria bent down to wipe the mess on the floor, Ashley slapped Maria on her head! I was appalled! I scoled Ashley for being rude, cleaned her up and brought her to the kitchen to apologize to Maria. She said,” Kakak…sorry…” *SIGH*

Grandma, Grandpa

The past week has been pretty busy in our household. For starters, my parents are here…..they’re here mainly to babysit Baby Aaron while their parents (my sis and BIL) are honeymooning/holidaying at Spain :) Nevertheless, my parents insisted on staying with us for the first 2 days so that they could take care of Lil Missy and spend some quality time with her before they trott off to Ampang to be with Baby Aaron.

Maria

On top of that, my hired help, Maria, has finally arrived on the 24th April 07 (Tues) - the same day as my 35th week checkup and on the same day as the arrival of my parents….All I can say is that so far, she is ok. But nothing beats my experience so far when I went to the agency to pick her up……

As I entered the agency, the office looked like a typical Malaysian travel agency office except that along the wall, a row of Indonesian maids were seated on small stools - prolly waiting for their respective employers to pick them up. When I was seated and was waiting for the agent to tend to me, she called Maria over. She came over to my side, shook my hand and introduced herself and then stood beside me - as though waiting for whatever demands that I was going to issue to her. I felt weird….I continued with my dealings with the agent, signed some documents and blablabla….When the agent went off to make a copy of all the documents, Maria was STILL standing beside me with her hands together. I then asked her to sit down and she was like, “Thank you mam…thank you…” (OK at this point I felt like I was buying a slave!) After ding-donging…….before we left, the agent literally shouted from across the room to Maria and said….

Agent : Maria!?

Maria : Yes kak.

Agent : Kalau majikan bawa potong rambut, mesti potong ah!

Maria : Yes kak

Agent : Tak boleh kata tidak boleh ah! Rambut sudah panjang!

Maria : Yes kak.

Agent : Mesti kerja baik-baik ah!

Maria : Yes kak.

Agent : Muka tak boleh masam-masam. Wang simpan dalam bank ah!

Maria : Yes kak.

All this time, I was shocked! The the agent turned towards me and said…

Agent : (politely) ahhh…. Miss Mom2ashley….so ok la…bla bla bla bla….

Such a drastic change in tone when she spoke to me after speaking to Maria….

Anyhow, so far, she is ok…but then this is only her first week…..but I’m hoping that all will be ok. I’m not really benefiting from her help yet..maybe because I’m still in the process of training her…..but then again, she will be of much help especially when no.2 arrives! So wish us luck!

35th week update

Pics above were taken on 21 April 07 - Ashley was wearing a bib which Corrinne and Fui Sing bought for Ashley from New Zealand. No..she didn’t look very happy when I took the shots of her…she kept saying,” Doe-wan camera…doe-wan camera….”

I went for my 35th week checkup yesterday. Everything is a-ok….

Weight of mommy : 67kg

Weight of baby : 2.5kg

- baby’s head is engaged….and all set!!!!

- nothing new except that I got a feeling that the lil fella is going to come out earlier than expected….

- my appetite is humungous! - seriously….

- baby is extra active and kicking more than Ashley did when I was expecting her.

- When I asked Ashley whether she’d ’sayang’ her baby brother when he comes out, she replied,”Yes. Sayang baby brother, come out of tummy.”

- she also knows how to kiss her baby brother by kissing my tummy and she knows how to hug her baby brother by hugging my tummy…

our maid is coming….

After hearing about Annie’s runaway maids, I kept thinking whether I will suffer the same fate i.e. be a victim of the runaway maid scam! My Indonesian maid has already arrived in KL since 16 April 07 but I told the agent that I will collect her next week so that I got time to cleanup her room and prepare for her arrival. With the runaway scam that the agent scheme with the maids, what is actually being done to protect us as employers of the maid? We pay thousands of ringgit to employ a maid just to let it go to waste after a couple of months…I hope and pray that this won’t happen to me. My agent was introduced to me by 2 of colleagues who have been getting their maids from them and so far…it’s good so I am keeping my fingers crossed here. So many questions are raised in my head though :

- is this maid going to be a maid from hell?

- I can’t leave the maid at home alone…which means our outings will include an extra person…..

- Can’t walk around the house in our undies for the very obvious reasons!

- Will she be good with the kids?

I guess I am too pampered with my temp maid and the thought of having to train this new maid of ours is kind of a drag….

Speaking of my temp maid, yesterday was her last day with us. Usually I will give her a little something to bring home every other weekend. This time, we gave her some old cups and teapots which we don’t use anymore, some free diaper samples which we got from the paed plus we gave her an extra RM20 ang-pow. We feel very sad to have to not have her come to our house anymore and she feels the same too. When we dropped her off, she kissed the top of my palm like how the younger muslims would ’salam’ (?) the elder muslims out of respect and she was in tears. *sigh*..nevertheless, she will still be close - she will be cleaning my BIL’s house.
