Ashley and Baby Aaron

Posted on February 28, 2007

Whenever we go over to visit Baby Aaron, she’d usually be slightly melancholy - maybe because all the attention is centered on Aaron instead - but we always try to shower her equal attention and make sure that she is involved in caring for Aaron so that she won’t feel left out. During our last visit, she wanted to carry Aaron - so we let her. Aaron was uncomfortable and started to cry. Ashley felt a bit distressed - probably wondering why Aaron was crying in her arms…..(as seen in the picture)

After the visit, when we were at home, when it was her milk time, she asked to lie down on my lap. She climbed on top of my lap and said,”Aaron…..Aaron..” She wanted me to feed give her milk like how we give Aaron her milk!! How about that?

yes or no?

Posted on February 28, 2007

Pictures taken on 21 Feb 07.

A few months ago, we used to ask Ashley whether she wanted her milk when it was time for her milk. Although she answered ‘yes’ then, it was pretty unreliable. Unreliable because when we prepare her milk, she refused to drink it. I guess she didn’t know the meaning of ‘yes’ then. Nowadays, her request for milk is more genuine - which makes our life much easier. And whenever we ask her a question, we’d usually end it with a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ otherwise she’d just reply,’huh?’ for example :

Me : Do you want ‘nen-nen’ (milk)?

Ashley : huh?

Me : Yes or no?

Ashley : Yes…(or sometimes she’d reply ‘doe-wan’ (don’t want))

And the funny thing is whenever she replies ‘no’…it usually sounds like a question like ‘no?’ - as though she is unsure of her answer.

Come-mere (come here)

Last night, while I was working on my laptop, Ashley was across the room playing at her ‘work-table’. She then ttliterally commanded me to go over to her to join her (she wanted to ‘cook’ for me)….

Ashley : (from across the living room) Mar-mee!??? Come-mere! (patting the chair she was sitting on) Come! Come-mere!

Posted on February 27, 2007

This is a sponsored post.

Each year, when I watch the Oscars, the one thing I’d usually pay attention to are the celebrities walking down the red carpet. The celebrities, especially the women, would look their very best with flawless skin, glam hair-dos, designer dresses, shoes and handbags and I never fail to wonder how they’d look like without make-up and wearing “normal” clothing like “normal” people or non-celebrities…However, one should never feel disheartened because we too can dress and look like an Oscar Starlet! Check out the Belisi Blog : How to Look Like an Oscar Starlet. In there, there are tips and little secrets on what you should consider such as skin and beauty treatment, advise on the type of under-garments you should consider for different kinds of dresses, shoes, handbags and dresses. kicker ball!

Posted on February 25, 2007

Whenever Ashley sees a ball, she’d said,”Kicker ball! Kicker ball“. What she actually meant to say was “Kick THE Ball”. Hubs plays football on a regular basis - and that goes without saying that he watches or tries to watch every football match on the tele. So sometimes, when she plays with her ball, she’d say, “Kicker ball! Goal!!!!” Last week, we entered one of the sports shop at one of the malls. They had a row of balls lined up on top of the racks. She was so excited to see them. She was hopping and skipping along the row of balls with both her hands outstretched and kept chanting, “Kicker ball! Kicker ball!”

home alone with lil missy

Posted on February 25, 2007

It has been quite awhile since I last posted the last installment of ‘goooood morning ashley’ pictures. This is because she is usually asleep when we’re ready to put her in her car seat on weekday mornings. Nowadays, the only time I can get a decent picture of her in the mornings is when she drinks her milk - cause then she is not moving about as much….

Hubs had to work the whole day on Saturday (what a boo-boo!) as opposed to just half a day so I was home with Ashley all day…. She surprised me with a couple of stuff today…

- I was drinking apple juice and as usual, whenever she sees us drink or eat, she’d want some….She saw my drink and said, “Orange Juice”. Obviously she can’t tell the difference between Orange and Apple juice..So I decided to offer her some…

Juice

Me : You want some apple juice?

Ashley : Apple juice…

Me : Yes or no?

Ashley : Yes….

So I went to the kitchen and prepared some dilluted apple juice for her…..while preparing..she said..

Ashley : Mar-meeeee???! Apple Juice! Hurry up!

I was stunned. It was the first time she asked me to hurry up….*tsk*tsk*

Barney

Ashley can watch the same Barney CD over and OVER again - I mean seriously..she never gets sick of it….she’d usually just sit down and stare at the tele. Today however, she decided to dance and follow Barney and the kids dancing the ‘Gaggling, giggling, wiggle’ dance and she was prancing and hopping round the house. Her actions made me giggle……At the end of the show, when Barney sings “I love you..you love me…..we’re best friends…..” She wanted me to stand up and hug and kiss her like how Barney hugs the kids….I guess it would be very fitting that she wanted me to impersonate Barney since I am as big as Barney - belly-wise….:)

When the Barney show ended, she demanded to watch other CDs. When she said ‘Cow’, it means she wanted to watch the Old McDonald Baby Einstein CD. She even knew which CD it is and will pick it out from the CD cabinet!

Shadow

We’d usually play the shadow game with her when we are riding in the car at night. She’d spot the shadows on her arm and say, “There! There! Shadow! Mar-mee??? Shadow? Daddy? Shadow???” However, this afternoon, somehow there was a moving shadow which was formed as a result of a car moving past our house. Suddenly, she stopped at her tracks, stared at the wall (as though she saw a ghost). I then said in a happy voice,”Shadow…” I thought she’d be amused at it. Instead, she looked at me, started to cry and ran towards me. Poor gal. That was a surprise to me. Perhaps this time, the shadow wasn’t on any of our arms and maybe that’s why she freaked out…?

Ants…

We discovered an army of ants circling round a carpet in the living room. I started to get rid of it…Ashley saw what I was doing and started to do the same. She was on all fours, killing the trail of ants! and while she was at it, she was chanting,” ants! ants!”

Yoghurt

To ensure that Ashley had enough of roughage for the day, I decided to blend a banana with yoghurt instead of the regular blended papaya and banana which my MIL usually give her. I left a teeny bit of yoghurt in the yoghurt container and placed the remaining blended yoghurt and banana in another bowl. I do this because during all mealtimes (with me), she’d insist of having her own plate and spoon (dunno why but she doesn’t do this with MIL)…So while she is busy scooping her own yoghurt, I am diligently feeding her her blended yoghurt and banana and she finished it in less than 5 minutes. After that, she spent the remaining 20 minutes finishing the remaining yoghurt in her container - salvaging every single bit of it…

Ashley eating her yoghurt….

Ashley trying to salvage what’s left in the container…

After that, she used her hands and cleanout any trace of yoghurt and brought her hands together as though she was washing her hands with the yoghurt!

After that, I gave her some wet wipes and she cleaned her face, hands and even the table…..

..and then…she put the wet wipes in her shirt!

Ashley looking for her wet wipes….

Grandma, Grandpa

After 2 solid months, my parents are finally back at KK. They stayed with my sis for the past 2 months (except for some weekends where they stayed over at my place because they missed Ashley…) to take care of her during confinement and also to help take care of baby Aaron….

Picture taken on 18 Feb 07 - First day of Chinese New Year at Ikano. Ashley had just woken up from her nap - hence the blur-look.

Did you know that on average, mobile users with Pingo Calling Cards save 90% or more on their international calls. sleeping position

Posted on February 24, 2007

A few nights ago, during one of Ashley’s regular evening naps, she woke up, stood up from the cushion she was lying down on on the floor and zombied towards our 1-seater sofa, climbed on top of it, curled herself up and continued to sleep……I covered her with the blankie or course…not that she did that on her own…a few minutes later…she shifted her position and we were surprised to see that she had both her feet on the floor but her body (waist upwards)  was on the sofa!

Recognizing things

I meant to blog about this but I keep forgetting…..when I was folding our laundry one day, I decided to test her whether she knew who’s clothes belonged to who…surprisingly, she was able to differentiate who’s clothes were mine, Hub’s, hers, grandma and grandpa’s!

Addition to her “masak-masak’ session…

Lately she has included the following to her “kitchen utensils” for her masak-masak sessions :

- our rice pot

- 1 can of beer (unopened of course)

- 1 bottle or marmite

- 1 bottle of Lee Kum Kee sauce

- our guest bathroom fancy soap

- our guest bathroom hand towel!

- coins from my wallet!
