’tis the season to be jolly tra la la la la la….

Posted on December 31, 2006

I can’t believe that it’s the new year. It’s almost the tail end of our year-end holidays….(unfortunately)… For Christmas 2006, we went back to my KK, Sabah to celebrate Christmas.

(22 Dec 06)

Gooooood morning Ashley! This photo was taken on the morning we left for KK. We had to wake lil missy up….she tossed and turned….

..and turned from left to right……

and she finally woke up and reluctantly drank her milk with her eyes closed…….

While queing up to check in at the airport….Ashley got restless..and so we decided  put her on the trolley!

and while waiting at the boarding area…..Hubs had to keep her entertained….

Ashley was glad to be at Grandma and Grandpa’s house cause there was SOOO much space for her to run around and explore…..

(24 Dec 06) - Ashley loved hanging out at the verandah….she kept commanding Rocky (my dad’s dog) to “come! come!”

Rocky would entertain her for abit and would walk away…and she’d continue to command him to “come!”

As like every Christmas eve, we’d attend the Christmas eve mass at St Simon’s. The killer is that we’d usually have to arrive at the church 2 HOURS before the actual mass starts so that we can get to sit inside of the air-conditioned church (madness if you ask me…)

And it’s a tradition that we have a huge BBQ party at my parents’ place every Christmas Day night. The house will be abuzz in preparation of the BBQ party and the smell of freshly baked cakes will be lingering in the house…..

This is our Lil Helper - helping out Grandpa in setting up the verandah for the party….

(27 Dec 06) - Grandpa and Ashley by a Christmas Tree at K. Karamunsing

On the 27 Dec 06, my sis gave birth to a beautiful son, Aaron.

Ain’t he a cutie?!

My parents flew to KL with us on the 30th to see their first grandson for the very first time.

Gooooooooooooooooood Morning Ele, Mr Bean Bear & Teddy Bear…Lil Missy was busy pottering around one morning…

Each time I wash my hair, I’d wrap my hair with a towel…so this time…Ashley decided that she wanted to do the same…so I wrapped a towel on her head…she gave me a couple of generous poses before taking the towel off her head.

Once in a while, Ashley would put on her sunnies and run up and down the house with a handbag on one arm - I think she’s trying to imitate me…

Cow

Each time we pass by Marche @ The Curve, we’d stop by the cow statues. To our amusement, Ashley would be clinging on extra tight to whoever was carrying her at that time and would refuse to get anywhere near the cow. When we start to walk away, she’d point to the cow and say,”cow?….sked (scared)” while rubbing her chest with one hand!

Teeth

Recently while I was brushing her teeth, I realized that her molars have grown..she no longer only has 8 teeth..she has more than that now..both top and bottom! I didn’t bother counting them…

Eat on her own

Ashley likes to eat on her own now. Each time we have our meals, she’d want to sit down and feed herself. Of course she’d make a big mess but we make sure that we place newspapers on the floor below her chair so that we can clean up after her in a jiffy.

Alleluia! My exam is finally over. Had to fly down to Singapore just to sit for the exam. I hope I pass! (fingers crossed). I flew down to Singapore on Sunday to sit for my exam which was this morning and then flew back to KL. I specifically requested for a noon flight on Sunday so that I can squeeze sometime to shop at Marina Square and Suntec City (strategically stayed at Pan Pacific Hotel). Little did I know, when I arrived at the MAS check-in counter, the flight was cancelled!!!!! %%%!!@@@$!!!! Next flight they put me on was at 3:40pm as opposed to the original flight which was at 12 noon! So by the time I arrived at Changi Airport, it was 5pm. By the time I reached Pan Pacific was 5:30pm. I checked in, got the bell boy to bring my luggage to my room and headed to the shops! Little did I know, my casual pumps which never gave me any problems when I was in KL was bititng my feet! Anyways….by hook or by crook,  I managed to get whatever i wanted to get and finally got back to the room at 8:30pm.

When I called home last night, Ashley had put on her crocodile cry when she heard my voice over the speaker phone. When we got off the hook, apparently (told by Hubs) Ashley continued to cry and thought I was downstairs and kept telling Hubs that I was downstairs. Hubs had to explain to her that I was at the office (Singapore). Hubs had to bring her outside the room, and pointed to the looming darkness down the stairs to convince her that I was not actually downstairs but at the offfice (Singapore). She then settled for his explanation and stopped crying. That night, she had to settled on playing with Hub’s hair while sucking her thumb instead of tugging at my hair.

I’ve been so busy and we never got round to putting up our Christmas tree at home this time!!! Anyhow, Ashley did enjoy the Christmas tree and decor at The Curve.

(Picture taken on 8 Dec 2006)

She pointed to the Xmas decor and said, “Ball!…kick!”.

Oh ya, btw, my MIL gave her a hair cut! Told her to trim the fringe and back and forgot to tell her NOT to trim the sides (cause I wanted her hair to grow long nicely)….the end result? -  Ashley turned out looking like a little boy!

18 months

Posted on December 7, 2006

I thought I should post Ashley’s 18 month milestone before I declare a blog break…..This post is outdated though….Ashley turned 18 months old on 2 Dec 2006. She’s growing at lightning speed and it’s tough to capture her developments in here but I will try….

speech

ohhh…..she is very creative in this area…..she even knows how to sing her own made-up song…which is along the lines of….mama…..yeh yeh…..yeow yeow (meow meow)….etc etc…it’s hilarious just listening to her sing! These are some of the words she can say :

- koko mike (her loyal fan)

- pur-pur (referring to her purple bear)

- oh-fis (office)

- heavy (whenever we change her diaper and wrap it up, she’d pick the soiled diaper up and say, “heavy” while moving her hands up and down as though weighing the diaper.

There are lots more but I just can’t jog my memory at this moment…..

emotions

Like i mentioned before in my previous posts, if she doesn’t get what she wants, she’d cover her face with both her hands and cry as though we’ve abandoned her in the middle of the desert! Then in a split second, she can laugh or smile!

When I pick her up from MIL’s house, she’d be extra manja! As my MIL would put it, Ashley “cha teh” (I think it means pretend to be manja in cantonese - correct me if I am wrong).

dexterity

Ashley has no problems in this area. She walks, jogs, runs, climbs etc. I like to look at her while she tries to run cause she looks clumsy while she is at it with both her arms swinging back and forth exageratingly.

interest

Since Ashley’s 5 year-old Cousin Bridget is on a year-end break, I’ve been printing out colouring worksheets from the internet for her to colour on. As usual, whatever Bridget does, Ashley would like to follow. So, Ashley has started to do her own colouring as well.

diet

breakfast : 8oz of milk

lunch - porridge

tea - yoghurt, fruits

4pm - 8oz of milk

dinner - porridge

supper - 8oz of milk

And whenever we eat, she’d would also want to join in and eat something. She has also started to feed herself. We’d lay newspapers below her chair so that we won’t have a hard time cleaning after her mess.

Alrighty..that’s all from me for now..I will be on a blog break from now till before Christmas.
