mommy the slacker
Posted on November 30, 2006
I’ve been slacking in updating my blog lately…..but I have excuses, excuses, excuses….
1. I don’t blog at work. So by the time I get home (which is about 9pm after picking Ashley up from MIL’s place and have dinner over there), I am a wreck. I can just plonk myself on the bed and doze off!
2. I have to study for an exam which I will be sitting for on the 18th Dec 2006 *ARGH*..this is the kind of paper where failing is NOT an option. No chance of re-sitting or whatsoever otherwise I’d have to sit for the entire training course again. So..bummer!
Ashley, on the other hand is becoming quite a handful.
- She’d insist on sitting at the table next to me while I study.
- She’d insist on using MY highlighter pen.
- She’d insist on using the pen I am using.
- She’d insist on scribbling on MY book - not hers.
- She’d insist on drinking from MY cup - not hers.
and the list goes on and on.
However, sometimes..it is rather hard to refuse her because of her ever-sweet voice when she calls out to me - mommmmyyyyyyyyyyyyy.
As for my pregnancy, my hunger pangs are less frequent now. However, eating every 3-4 hours is such a norm to me these days. Going to the loo at my office is another thing. I will go in and come out a wreck because I always get nauseated at the stuffiness of the loo.
I have many backdated photos to post but did not the chance to download them from my camera to my notebook. Will do it over the weekend or something……Ashley’s good morning pictures are way overdue!

Lil Miss Humpty Dumpty
Posted on November 18, 2006
Grandma, Grandpa
Grandma and Grandpa has left to go back home last weekend. When Grandma and Grandpa were driven off in a cab, Lil Missy just looked on - as though she knew that her Grandma and Grandpa were leaving. She has grown very attached to Grandpa - only because Grandpa plays with her 24×7! After they left, I asked her where Grandma/Grandpa was and she replied,”woooo” and she’d signed for an airplane flying in the sky. For the next couple of days, she refused to talk to them on the phone.
New Words
Ashley has learnt a couple of more words….
- omen (open)
- pio (pillow)
Cry Baby
She has also become quite emotional. A couple of days ago, while we were in bed, she accidentally slapped my eye. I screeched out in pain and pretended to cry. Poor lil missy saw me cry and started to cry! I felt so bad afterwards.
Lil Miss Humpty Dumpty
My lil missy decided to be a heroin one day and decided to step off the bed instead of turning around and getting off the bed like how she used to. Poor Missy fell flat on her front with a loud THUD! I felt sooo sorry for her. She cried and cried in my arms…but when I placed a cold pack on one side of her face where it was red, she laughed…..I was relieved. At least she wasn’t seriously injured or anything. *PHEW*

updates on lil missy
Posted on November 8, 2006
Eversince my parents have been here for the last 3 weeks, I felt that Lil Missy has blossomed even more! - maybe because of the fact that my parents tell us every single detail that Ashley does during the day.
For e.g., yesterday, my mom told me that Ashley wore her sunnies longer than usual and was running up and down the living room. Because one part of her sunnies was almost broken, the sunnies always rolled down her nose and she had to push it up her nose bridge ever so often - like an adult adjusting his/her spectacles/sunnies.
She also loves to hang her handbag on her arm (similar to carrying a supermarket basket on the arm) and loves to walk up and down the living room - like mama tua!
She ransacked Aunt Carol’s car and took out a bunch of bangles and started to wear them and parade it round the house while carrying her handbag. *slap forehead*
These are some of Lil Missy’s additional vocab…
- nana (banana)
- no more…finish
- tortoise (she can pronounce this word perfectly)
- hug
- off (signaling us to switch off the lights)
These days…..she calls my dad “Pa” instead of attempting to say ‘Grandpa’ she calls my mom, “Ma” or “mum” instead of attempting to say ‘Grandma’.
She’s also like a lil Monkey……I have 2 single seaters next to each other. She’d climb up onto one and then she’d go to the next single seater by crossing the arm rests!
Before Ashley does something naughty (I don’t use the word “naughty” in front of her)….she’d call out to me in her sweetest voice - “Mommy??? Mommy???? Hiiiiiiii!” and she’d wave to me with one hand. Once I’ve responded, she’d proceed to do something which she very well knows that I would not very much approve off - like emptying the contents of my handbag AND wallet.

Weight : I reckon it’s about 10.1kg…(haven’t weighed her recently)
Teeth : Stilll 8 - 4 on top and 4 at the bottom
Dexterity
Besides walking, she can run, climb up and down the couch, even climb on top of the couch arm rest!, climb up the stairs (with aid of course).
She tries to drink from her cup on her own and refuses any help from us to hold the cup! She also tries to feed herself - which usually end up in a total mess. But heck..? Toddlers = Mess anyways….
Languange
Ashley can say the following words now :
- nice (when we give her something nice to eat)
- eat (and she’d point at her mouth indicating that she wants to eat whatever that we are eating)
- no more (when the Barney show comes to an end, she’d say “no more”)
- door
- chair
- kim (cream)
- bank-ket (blanket)
- ash-ee (ashley)
- mum (referring to grandma)
- pa (referring to grandpa)
- co (cold)
- chor-chor (sit down)
- wow (when she sees a bag of goodies)
- toy
- dirty
- hey-ho (hedgehog)
Feeding/Food
Ashley basically loves to eat, eat and eat. Grandpa calls her an eating machine. She never refuse ANYTHING that we offer to her.
She has 2 solid meals a day and 3 x 8oz of milk daily. Here’s her eating schedule :
breakfast - 8oz milk, followed by a tea spoon of Cod Liver Oil
lunch - porridge with fish, chicken/pork, pumpkin/carrots, veges, sometimes potatoes
tea - fruits (banana, papaya) and Petit Miam yoghurt
dinner - porridge
supper - 8 oz of milk before she goes to bed…..
Emotions
She knows how to express her likes and dislikes. When we give her something to eat, she’d say, ” Yummy” or “mmMMMmmmMM”.
Very short-tempered. She likes to hit people (*slap head*) especially to those who make her unhappy e.g. take away something she is not supposed to play with….. or if she cannot get her way, she’d hit and if that doesn’t work, the little tyke would attempt to bite! ARGH! I hope lil missy is not turning into a lil monsta!
