my little munchkin

Posted on September 28, 2006

Yesterday, instead of drinking her milk, Ashley insisted on eating biscuits instead. So Grandma gave her half a biscuit and she happily munched away with that mock chew of hers -  like a little munchkin…Then, Grandma passed her a whole biscuit and asked Ashley to pass it to me. She took the biscuit from Grandma, walked towards me, but instead of giving me the whole biscuit, she gave me hers which was, by then 1/4 quarter of the actual size!

Ashley loved it when we covered her head with her blankey….she was so happy she was walking round and round the living hall with her hands outstretched.

“Happy Ramadhan my Muslim friends!”

weh weh weh, shh shh shh

Posted on September 26, 2006

mommy : (singing) the babies on the bus go..?

ashley : weh weh weh,  (she’d cover her eyes with her hands and pretend to cry)

mommy : (singing) the mommies on the bus go?…

ashley : shh shh shh (and she’d put her index finger on her lips)

Ashley having a cracker….she actually posed for me when I got ready to snap pictures of her!

Ashley’s the HAPPIEST when we let her walk when we’re out. She’d willingly raise both her hands so that we can hold it while she walks….

mi-mi, da-dee

Posted on September 25, 2006

(9 Sept 06) - goooooooooooooood morning ashley!!!!

Somedays, Ashley would wake up in the morning and when she sees me, she’d immediately say, “mi mi”. And when she sees Hubs, she’d say, “da-dee”. This does not happen every morning though. This morning, she woke up grumpy…she didn’t see either of us on our beds and stood up. When she saw me, she had the funny look on her face as though she was going to cry if I didn’t scoot her out of her cot on time. Then she insisted on me carrying her for another 15 minutes. She absolutely refused for me to let her go.

(22 Sept 06) The Bumbo chair which I got for Ashley when she was about 6-7 months old is now being used for non other than her play thing! She’d push them round the hall, she’d sit in it for one second and get out of it on her own the next second…and she can even carry the chair from one end to the other end of the living hall! I must say that we didn’t have much use of the chair - maybe because I bought it abit too late i.e. should have let Ashley use it when she was younger.

lil stunt missy

Posted on September 24, 2006

(photos taken on 15 Sept 06)

Ashley has been a stunt woman lately. She’d climb on the couch and recently likes to switch the reading lamp on and off and on and off and …….you get the drift…

First she’d hoist herself up onto the couch…

voila! she’s now on the couch!

Then she eyed the lamp….

And started switching the lamp on and off and on and off and on….

“whoopsy mommy caught me in the act!”

(23 Sept 06)

Grandma and Grandpa are in town again for another 2 weeks. So it’d be 2 weeks of sleeping in the mornings for Ashley :)

there’s something about ashley…

Ashley insisted on feeding herself with yoghurt and so I let her do it as long as she was on her feeding chair. She spent a good 1/2 hour feeding herself and also shared her yoghurt with me. She’d stretch out her hand with the spoonful of yoghhurt and said to me, “Umm! Umm!”

After awhile, she got bored of the spoon and decided to use her fingers instead. She also smeared yoghurt on her face and her hair! After her self-feeding session, she looked like Cameron Diaz in ‘There’s Something About Mary’ - except that Ashley had yoghurt on her hair.

Ashley didn’t leave out feeding the tiger-piggy-bank her yoghurt as well.

Ashley also insisted on feeding herself during dinner….

After awhile, she got fed up with the spoon and dumped the whole bowl on her face instead!

lil missy, our lil shopper

(9 Sept 06) - goooooooooooooood morning ashley!!!

Last weekend, while Ashley and i waited around at Zara while Hubs was in the fitting room…guess what lil missy was up to?

She was looking through the rack of mens’ underwear and was passing them to me, one by one! after that..she got a bit more adventurous and decided to look into the box next to her…

and then…she decided on the hat!

Suddenly I realized that the spot i was sitting on would be a good spot to snap some photos of ashley at and so i scooted her off the undies rack and onto the chair I was sitting on….i was so excited to be able to have a good spot for photo-taking until i forgot to set my camera settings properly..hence ashley turned out pretty red in the photos below…(*darn*)

weekend fun

Posted on September 19, 2006

Last weekend, we celebrated MIL’s birthday at TGIF, One Utama. Ashley got the chance to meet up with both her cousins -  Nicole and Bridget.

16 Sept 06 - Ashley and Nicole sat next to each other and enjoyed each other’s company….

Ashley, Bridget and Nicole.

Check out Ashley’s ‘pose’. That’s how she looks like when we ask her to chew the food in her mouth food - I call it the  mock chew considering she only has 8 teeth….

Ashley and her Yeh-Yeh (Hub’s dad)

Uncle Mark entertaining Ashley at the bowling alley….

After dinner, Hubs, Ashley and I headed towards the bowling alley at One Utama to bowl with our friends…it was Ashley’s first time at the bowling alley and thankfully she wasn’t too much to handle.

peekaboo

This morning, Ashley woke up and immediately closed her eyes with both hands and played peekaboo! And when Hubs came out of the shower, she waved at him with one hand and said,”hi!”. She didn’t need anytime to adjust to waking up early this morning. She was instantly cheerful. Putting her into her car seat this morning was no biggy. She cried for half a minute and then she stopped when we distracted her by asking her to say goodbye to Sydney who was looking into the car at us. *phew*

The Little Helper

Ashley’s at the stage where she willingly would do anything that we asked her to (*we’re taking advantage of it*)

Daddy : Ashley, pass daddy the socks

Ashley : (picks up a sock and passed it to daddy)

Daddy : Thank You. Pick up the other sock and pass it to daddy…

Ashley : (picked up the other sock and passed it to daddy)

On separate occasions, she did the following when asked to :

  • Throw her own smelly diaper into the dust bin
  • Fetched her shoes
  • Took her own towel and walked into the bathroom
  • …and the list goes on….

Pneumococal Meningitis

Yesterday evening, we brought Ashley for the 2nd installment of the Pneumococal Meningitis jab. My lil koala clung on tight when the doc gave her the jab on her right arm. She cried when the doc injected the vaccine into her - but she only cried for 1/4 of a min. We distracted her with the picture of the fish on the wall and then it was as though she never had a jab! (*phew*)

Ashley & Grandpa @ One Utama (25 Aug 06)

Aunt Carol (my sis) is 5 months into her pregnancy. We’ve been telling Ashley that there’s a baby in Aunt Carol’s stomach. At first, Ashley kinda freaked out and moved away from Aunt Carol as though she had somekind of a disease. Eventually Ashley accepted the fact that Aunt Carol was carrying a baby. When we asked her to kiss the baby, she’d lean over to Aunt Carol’s belly and kissed it.

One day, when grandma and grandpa brought  Ashley out, Ashley went up to a pregnant lady, touched her belly and said, “bay bee!” Grandma and Grandpa was pleasantly surprised. So was the pregnant lady.

On a separate occasion, Ashley came up to me, lifted my shirt, pointed to my tummy and said,”bay bee!” Now she thinks there are babies in everyone’s belly!

Bollywood moment….

Ashley & Cousin Bridget watching Barney (1 Sept 06)

This morning, it happened again. As I sat Ashley in her car seat in Hubs’ car, she crrrriiiiieeed and stretched her arms towards me while Hubs was driving out of the driveway (to drop her off at MIL’s). It felt like a Bollywood moment minus the corniness and music. :) At that moment, I felt so guilty to have to put her in that situation. Thankfully, she did not cry during the entire journey to MIL’s house….Hubs said that she stopped after 2 minutes. (phew!)

This evening, as I was driving towards MIL’s house to pick Ashley up, I couldn’t help but felt paranoid that Ashley was going to put up a fuss again when it was time to place her in her car seat. True to my instincts, she cried again! She kept on wanting to cling onto me. Trust me. She hung to my body like her life depended on it - and hugged it fiercely like a koala bear eventhough I was handsfree! Anyway, 1 minute into the drive, I tried to distract her by asking her to look out of the window.

ashley : wuaaaaaaaaaaa! wuaaaaa! wuaaaa!

mommy : Ashley!? Look outside the window! There’s a cat! What does the cat do?

ashley : wuuuaaaaaa! wuaaaa! yeow yeow (yeow=meow)

mommy : (shocked..but GLAD!)

ashley : wuaaaaaa! wuaaaa! wuaaa!

mommy : (damn)….What does the dog do?

ashley : wuaaaa! wuaaaaa! woo! woo! (paused…then) wuaaaaaa!

mommy  : What does the snake do?

ashley : pssssssss……….

mommy : (ok good..she stopped crying) What does the bee do?

ashley : bzzzzzzzz

After that she didn’t cry anymore. *phew* I wonder how long that trick will work.

When Grandpa was here last month, we decided one evening to bring her for a walk together with Sydney.

Ashley pointing at Sydney….

She enjoyed the walk so much and looked so happy - as though she was free as a bird - free from the confines of our house. Happy that she had plenty of room to move about.

my koala bear

Posted on September 12, 2006

(pics taken on 5 sept 06)

This was taken one morning before I left for the office. Grandma and Grandpa were staying with us then so Ashley got to sleep in.

Before I left, she woke up…

She sneaked up to my 14-year old mini player….

…..and sat on it!

mommy : where’s baby ashley??

mommy : where’s mommy?

This evening, I arrived at my MIL’s place later than usual. Ashley was 20 minutes into dreamland. (damn). So i went about fixing the baby car seat in my car, placed the basket full of Ashley’s stuff/toys and our dinner into my car and proceeded to scoot Ashley off the bed and attempted to place her in her car seat. The moment I sat her on her car seat, she screeeeeeeaammmmmed and wailed as though I had desserted her in the middle of the desert!

She was tired, sleepy and grumpy - not exactly a good combo.

I had to carry her and soothe her in my arms for 15 minutes.  Then, I  placed her in her car seat again and decided to drive off cause I figured they’d be no end to it. really. Ashley cried during the entire ride home (15 min). 2 minutes into our journey,  I swore I was going mental. But then each time I turned round to look at her, she’d have both her arms outstretched towards me and cried out, “mimi mimi mimi” *SIGH*…that really broke my heart into a million pieces as I was helpless while I was driving us home. When we arrived home, I quickly carried her into my arms and she was stuck onto me like forever - like a koala bear.
