the head stand

Posted on April 29, 2006

Goooooood Morning Ashley!!!!! It’s a nice feeling to wake up on Saturday morning when you know that it’s going to be a longggg weekend (since Monday is a holiday - Labour Day!). I’ve been so busy that I didn’t realize that Monday is a holiday until 2 days ago! Anyway….thanks to the weekend, Ashley slept an hour longer before she woke up at 8:30am. abit too early for me though but i had to wake up when she did cause hubs is working half day today…..

this morning, i spotted lil missy trying to the head stand!! OMG! i’m always so amazed by the new things she can do…she never cease to surprise us all the time.

for the last one week, we’ve been trying to get ashley to sleep earlier in the evenings i.e. by 10am. this is so that she’d have enough sleep by the time she wakes up the next weekday morning at 7:30am. (i know of parents putting their kids to bed by 8:30am!) we adjusted her meal schedule so that she’d have her last drink during our dinner time so that she can whine down after that - or so we hope…

this morning while i took my bath, ashley looked on a signalled the “bath time” signal - her right palm was rubbing against her body. ahhh cute lil missy! she got me there…

hands free

Goooood Morning Ashley!!!! This picture was taken this morning. Notice the leg action there….she was doing the Air Jordan number…

These days, she is not as excited as before when it comes to drinking her milk. Before this, whenever it was milk time, before I could even lay her down and open the bottle cover, she’d whine and grab the bottle with both her hands.

These days however, she’d turn away from the bottle whenever I attempt to give her her milk. She’d wiggle away and divert her attention to something else like her toy. MIL said that she had to con her by giving her something to hold while drinking her milk…and hence, Ashley hardly ever holds her own bottle anymore when drinking her milk except for her first drink every morning…..*sigh*

2 nights ago, i managed to catch both hubs and Ashley fast asleep on the bed…..hubs was trying to put her to sleep before we placed her in her own cot next to our bed. He ended up sleeping with her as well.

plagued by diaper rash

Posted on April 27, 2006

this post is outdated but trust me, it’s better for it to be outdated as opposed to me writing about it when it actually happened. i’d prolly severe my ties with my in-laws if they ever read this ;) heheheh

on monday evening, i went over to mil’s house to pick ashley up. what caught me by surprise was that when mil changed ashley’s diaper, her diaper rash scccccreamed out at me! OMG! it was the first time i actually saw what a diaper rash looked like and my head filled with so many questions like:

annnnnyways…so mil explained in a as-a-matter-of-fact fashion that it was ok and it was because ashley slept with her poo in her diaper without her noticing it. (her poo was watery and odourless and therefore it got absorbed by the diaper and hence didn’t smell.)

annnnyway..to cut the lonnnnng story short (trust me, it was long and dear hubs was the middle man), that night, i decided to air ashley while she slept. i placed her in the middle of our bed, under the fan in our air conditioned room, removed her diaper, cleaned her, applied drapolene and aired her for 1/2 hour. as she was being aired, i sat on the bed, stared at her diaper rash as though willing for it to dissapear. *sigh* ooor baby.

the next morning, her rash was sooooo much better. nicole’s mommy was kind enough to pass me desitin (which is rich in zinc oxide) to apply on her diaper rash and it has improved tremendously! this morning, there was only a hint of red on her diaper rash. i’m confident that by the weekend, it’d be GONE!

p.s. just for the record, there was no fight nor misunderstanding between mil and i. we’re still cool :)

one helluva bumpy day

Posted on April 24, 2006

Goooood Morning Ashley….she woke up and flipped through her waterproof book….(21 April 2006)

yesterday was just not ashley’s day. she knocked herself in the head 5 times.

knock #1
we were at the hotel room at avillion yesterday morning. she was lazing around on the day-bed and accidentally knocked her right cheek bone on the wall! she let out a viscious cry. poor baby. hubs immediately wrapped some ice and iced her bruise. by afternoon, the bruise was gone.

knock #2
we were at home in the afternoon. she accidentally missed her footing and and knocked her right cheek (again) against the side of the tv cabinet. she cried again. poor baby. we had to ice her right cheek again. she hated it when we iced her cheek with the ice pack. i would hate it too.

knock #3
she was in the cot. her rubber ducky got stuck in between the cot bars. somehow or another she was struggling with the ducky and knocked her forehead against the cot bar. she cried again. and we iced her …again.

knock #4
both hubs and i were seated on the couch. she stood in between us. somehow, she fell forward. hubs tried to cushion her fall by extending his leg. her mouth hit his leg. and she let out another cry.

knock #5
ashley was cruising by the couch. somehow she slipped and fell flat on her back on the carpet (thank God) with both her arms wide open. she cried.

all in all..she had one helluva bumpy day.

this evening, when i picked ashley up from mil’s place, my mil reported that ashley was quieter than usual the whole day i.e. she didn’t want to get out of the cot to play on the floor. my mil said that ashley was very moody and looked as though she had alot on her mind. we concluded that she was kinda reserved due to the bumpy day the day before….however when i arrived to pick her up in the evening, she was herself again - crawling and cruising here and there…

hello avillion!

Posted on April 23, 2006

good morning!!!…… ashley was fascinated with the different view when she woke up on sat morning. our room overlooked the beach.

we spent the weekend at the avillion, port dickson. we drove down to PD on friday night and by the time we arrived there, lil missy had a fever! so we checked in and drove to the nearest 24hr clinic. doc said that it could be a virus and prescribed fever meds and anti-biotics. we ditched the anti biotics and just gave her the fever meds instead. we reckon the fever was due to her teething.

by sat afternoon, her fever had gone down and off we went for a swim!! yipee! ashley wasn’t wearing a bikini top cause she can’t fit into it anymore! it was also her first time using the floaties on her arms. i thought she’d be able to float in those but not without her kicking her legs - which she didn’t. so i had to support her so that her chin was constantly above the water.

ashley - all wrapped up after her swim

our room was fab. we stayed in a water chalet. the view was nothing to shout about…..i mean come on…it’s only PD beach!…but i love the bathroom! there’s an air well above the shower area and it sure feels so darn great to shower in the open! yeah!!!…

Ashley by the day-bed by the bay window. The room is splendid for families. There were 2 single beds and a huge day bed which could fit at least 2-3 children on it.

The chalet we stayed at is the second from the right.

We visited the Pet Farm at the resort. Ashley managed to touch a rooster, some rabbits and a guinea pig!

This is April, the rooster. He’s very tame. He wants to be spoon-fed all the time! and it was my first time actually touching a rooster!

This cute little bunny looks like Zoro with the black ring round each eye.

This morning, the bunnies were given their bath. After their bath, the bunnies were swaddled with a towel to keep them warm and they let the kids carry them like babies until the bunnies doze off.

This is a shot video of the bunny being swaddled after its bath…cuuuute!

and here’s a video of a guinea pig squeeling when being tickled at its throat

Ashley and Daddy looking at some chickens which had gone astray from the pet farm….interestingly, all the birds/pets return to the pet farm in the evenings on their own…

spills and bribes

Posted on April 18, 2006

gooooood morning ashley! this is ashley this morning. she had just woken up (hence the blur look) and paparazzi mama wasted no time in snapping, snapping and snapping away with the camera…..

since the day ashley was born, when milk/water/food spills out of her mouth,

it just spills. period.

it’d roll down her chin and if we’re not fast enough, it’d land on her shirt or it’d roll down her neck and then onto her shirt.

recently she kinda caught us by surprise. when i fed her one day, she actually tried to avoid spillage from her mouth by blocking her mouth with the length of her index finger. and then “ka ching!” i get that feeling that my daughter is growing so fast right under my nose and is gonna graduate to toddler-hood in 1.5 months time….

last weekend, we went to one u to do some shopping. to lure ashley to sit in her stroller, we resorted to placing a pack of mamy poko diapers on her lap….here’s a video of her setting some ‘vodoo’ spell on the pack…

new expressions

Posted on April 17, 2006

I want MORE!
We always include Ashley at the dining table during mealtimes. We’d make sure that she has something to eat as well so that she won’t be looking at us eat but rather eat together with us. Her mealtime does not coincide with ours so we’d usually give her a snack during our mealtimes. However, Ashley is very VERY demanding even when it comes to snacking. When we give her a spoonful of food, she’d demand for more the next instant by slamming both her hands on the table. *tsk*tsk*

nyeh nyeh nyeh nyeh
To express her dislike of being put in the cot, baby chair or stroller, instead of crying, she’d repeated say, ” nyeh nyeh nyeh nyeh nyeh” or “mem mem mem mem mem”. It’s as though she is pleading or begging to be rescued. Poor baby!

you woke me up mommy
This morning, in my quest to wake up early so that hubs do not have to do all the chores alone, I decided to get my lazy bum outta bed so that I could get ready early while Ashley’s asleep. However, this morning, Ashley woke up earlier than usual. So I carried her and tried to put her back to sleep since we had about 1 hr before we had to leave the house. She fell asleep in my arms (or so i thought..) and when I laid her down in her cot, she moved and started to cry while pointing her index finger at me!!?? - as though trying to blame mommy for waking her up or something….

gotcha!
There were times during the day when I tried to carry Ashley to sleep so that she can have her nap..I’d carry her for like 10 minutes and I swear she had fallen asleep in my arms then….and then just as I put her down in her cot, she’d move, look at me and smile that smile of hers as though saying, “gotcha mommy!!!!” so much for the hard work of putting her to sleep…:)

swimming & the madonna

Posted on April 15, 2006

this morning, i brought ashley for a swim at aunt carol & uncle ryan’s condo. (didn’t bring my camera with me!!! *slap head*) she cried a bit when we lowered her slowly into her float (i reckon it was due to the coldness of the water) after a while she was chillin’ and enjoying herself!

one thing good about her swim diaper was that it managed to contain her pee …learnt it the hard way….i opened her swim diaper while she was standing on my lap and her warm pee spilled onto my lap! argh!

peek-a-boo mommy!
this “good morning ashley” shot was taken this morning…..she lifted the cot bumper and peered out at me….

check out the gap between her two front teeth - i told hubs that it reminded me of madonna.

My first climb up the stairs…

In Ashley’s quest to explore explore explore, she has discovered the staircase last night!

And finally…here’s the video of Ashley walking while pushing her baby chair…

rise and shine sleepy head

Posted on April 13, 2006

Goooooo Morning Ashley! These pictures were taken yesterday morning. Imagine my heavy heart when I had to wake her up from her precious sleep so that I could change her into a fresh diaper, brush her teeth and gums, wipe her, give her a drink of water so that I can scoot her off to my MIL’s place every weekday morning….she moved from side to side before she finally woke up….but not without a smile :)

For sometime now, Ashley refuses to be placed in her cot. Each time we place her in her cot, she’d stand up and scrunge her face and cry that pitiful cry of hers - very dramatic if you ask me really….anyhow, she’d be mumbling and grumbling in her own way which goes something like this, ” mem mem mem mem wa wa wa “….the moment we go over to her cot to pick her up, her face would INSTANTLY light up.

Active at Nights..
Ashley has been more active especially at nights. She is not as eager to drink her milk at nights. Before, she’d usually reach out and grab the bottle with both hands before I could even lower the bottle to her mouth. Now, as soon as I give her her milk bottle, she’d toss and turn and try to wiggle her way out…

Crawl Crawl Crawl
She doesn’t really like to be carried all the time now…after being carried, she likes to wiggle - sign for wanting to be placed on the floor so that she can crawl about.

Chase
She can now chase after her toys if they happen to roll away by crawling after them.

Reverse
Apart from knowing how to walk while pushing the baby chair, Ashley knows how to reverse and turn the baby chair the other wy round if she hits a dead-end. Amazing but true….
