Good Morning Ashley! (29 Mar 06)

“Ele’s trunk tastes good this morning!…”

“whoops! paparazzi mommy caught me in the act!”

grandma and grandpa are leaving for kk tomorrow and will be back in about 1 1/2 months time. it’s a tiring cycle for them cause each time they come visit, ashley does not remember them and they’d have to remind ashley about the stuff unique to them like reminding her of the games that they used to play with her or how my mom will sing to her…and each time they’d have to part with her, it gets more difficult for them cause they’d miss her even more than before.

last night, during dinner with our usual bunch of friends to celebrate aunt fionna’s birthday @ a korean bbq restaurant, ashley sat in her own baby chair next to us and was very eager to join in the conversation..she sounded like this…

busy lil missy

Posted on March 28, 2006

i managed to catch ashley in action. she was emptying the contents of a basket which was full of her stuff which were initially neatly folded. she literally emptied the contents by taking out each item one by one…..she looked as though she was picking out veges in a market…

this picture was taken this evening. she was engrossed in the baby einstein video which koko mike played for her….it was the only time where you can actually witness ashley sitting still. speaking of koko mike…koko mike is a good family friend of my in laws. he is ashley’s regular visitor. everyday, after work, he’d drop by my in law’s house to pay ashley a short visit - even as short as 15 minutes. he’s ashley’s no. 1 fan - well no. 1 besides her parents, grandparents and god parents…. not seen in the picture is actually koko mike sitting on the floor, next to ashley.

where’s the light?

Posted on March 27, 2006

Gooood MoRNingggg Ashley!! (picture taken this morning…)

we went out for dinner last night at a chinese restaurant and after a couple of coaching from daddy….she learnt a few “tricks”…here’s one of ‘em…

us : ashley.. where’s the light?
ashley : (looks up and uses her index finger to point at the light)

while having our dinner, she refused to sit in her stroller and made such a big fuss & so we decided to put her in a baby chair. she was happier with the new arrangement. she was very eager to eat what we were eating so i gave her some tofu and steamed fish - which she gladly gobbled down and even asked demanded for more if i was slow at feeding her. heck..i can’t keep up with lil missy anymore…

Grandpa carrying Ashley…She loves looking into the mirror

muah muah!

“mmm yummy…i love my shoe!”

Grandma putting Ashley’s shoe back on …

Something interesting which my sis forwarded to me about babies deciding what to learn

that special quilt

Posted on March 26, 2006

this quilt is indeed special….
the week before i gave birth to lil missy, i was on leave and was basically chillin’ out at home with my parents, sorta preparing for the”d” day. instead of strumming my fingers on the table and waiting for any signs of labour, my mom and i decided to go out to buy the necessary stuff needed to make this quilt. so basically, we finished cutting the white cloth into squares, cut the coloured cloth into heart-shapes, ironed the iron-on paper onto the back of the hearts, sewed ‘em onto the white cloth etc etc etc and special thanks to Shannon’s Grandma advise who is an expert in needlework, we managed to put them together!…it’s a lot of work but I had sooo much fun doing it…then of course…my MIL decided to drop by one day and discouraged me from sewing AT ALL cause…..den den dennnnn …..

…..she said that the baby may be born with ears sewn closed together!

ok..so i thought that was a whole lot of crap…so i stopped sewing while she was there and immediately resumed sewing again as soon as she left the house. sewing then was the only thing i looked forward to with my mom while waiting to give birth to ashley and i wasn’t going to stop that since i knew that we will be darn busy as soon as ashley is born.

grandma and grandpa just arrived a couple of days ago and my mom finally brought back the final product of the quilt. she had all the pieces of squares with the hearts on them sewn together into a quilt. this’ll be a gift to ashley from her mommy and her grandma, made when ashley was still in her mommy’s tummy!

woo! woo!

Posted on March 23, 2006

mmm…yummy tail!

A couple of more days to go before lil missy offically turns 10 months old! aaak!
So last night, Hubs was telling me that Ashley knows where to look for Sydney (our lab) when we ask her about Sydney…….

Hubs : Ashley…where’s Sydney?
Ashley : Woo(f) Woo(f)

How about that?

Hubs : Where’s your friends? (referring to the animals hanging from her musical mobile)
Ashley : She’d look towards the musical mobile

Hubs : Where’s Ele the Elephant?
Ashley : She’d look for Ele

Hubs : Where’s little teddy bear?
Ashley : She’d look for her little teddy bear…

You get the drift eh?

Grandma and Grandpa are arriving tonight to stay with us for about a week +. So last night, I cleaned the guest room. Hubs was not around therefore I had to change the bedsheets at the guest room WITH Ashley. I’d normally accomplish the task in 10 mins tops. But with Ashley around..I took double the time to finish the chore. She wanted to roll and roll about on the bed like a bollywood star, stand up by the head-board and hit the wall..etc and She won’t let me out of her sight.

Last night, Ashley literally cried her lungs out. She didn’t let me out of her sight even for a second. But I had to take my shower before I plonk myself on the couch to watch the American Idol…..so I had no choice. I had to con her into looking at her book in her cot and dash into the bathroom for a quick shower. The moment I stepped into the bathroom, she crrriiiiiieeeddd and cried as though i had left her out for the dawgs to feed on her….soooo….. I had to take a 3 minute shower and dash outta of the bathroom again so that she could stop crying. *sigh*. She did sound very pitiful though.

she’s growing right before our eyes!

Ashley holding Ele by its tail…poor Ele…

I received an email from Babycenter reminding me on the milestones I should expect from my 9 months 3 week old baby and realized that Ashley is about 2 months away from her 1st birthday!!!??? Reality check? She is growing right before our eyes. Her cheeks are already shrinking and soon she’d want to be an independant gal…..Hubs used to joke that we lug around more of Ashley’s stuff than ours when we go out and he’d especially comment about this when we have to load and unload her stroller from the car. I kept reminding hubs that when the situation is reversed, she’d have to unload and load our wheel chairs!

check out the 2 mozzie bites on her right cheeks… poooooor ashley!

Good Morningggg Ashley….This was taken yesterday morning….

Mommy’s away…

Posted on March 19, 2006

Yup…mommy’s away again @ Singapore..but this time..for 2 nights only…so no countdown this time. I’m cool with 2 nights.

When I arrived home last friday, Ashley was standing in her cot by the window, waving at me from the inside. And when I finally stepped into the house, I noticed the 2 big red mozzie bites on her right cheek! I used to think that other parents make such a big fuss out of mozzie bites on their babies/kids but when it happens to MY own baby…it’s a different story altogether yea…Anyway….Ashley no doubt wanted me to carry her when I stepped into the house and just to test the waters, I offered her back to her daddy and she turned away from daddy…(yes! she still wants me! wua hahahahahah….) But somehow or another, she’s smart enough to raise the white flag to daddy when I am not around…..smart gal!

One thing which I noticed when I got back from a week in Singapore was that Ashley likes to empty out baskets and a containers full of stuff. Last week, she emptied her basket full of her own stuff (face towels, bibs, socks). She meticulously took out piece by piece and surrounded herself with the contents of the basket.

Goooooooooood MORNinggg Ashley!!! (taken this morning)… notice the little teddy bear beside her…she absolutely adores it! Got that teddy bear as a thank you gift from a wedding reception we attended sometime back…

When Ashley woke up this morning, she lazed around in bed, making her occasional “ooos” and “aaahhhs”. When I stood up and walked over to her cot, she smiled and happily waved at me with BOTH hands. It’s moments like these that make all the sleepless nights, panda-eyes, backaches, swollen feet seem as though they never happened before.

3 down, 2 days to go

Posted on March 15, 2006

i’m anxiously counting the moments to be home free! one week away from home is too much for me to handle. it’s agonizing!

hubs related to me over the phone that ashley can now shake her legs when listening to the music on the tele. so i was like, “she has been doing it for the last 3-4 months!”. i reckon daddy needs to spend more daddy-daughter time. just the two of ‘em. *wink*

2 down, 3 days to go

Posted on March 14, 2006

A room with a splendid view! Snapped this pic using my camera phone… If you stare hard enough, you can see the Merlion spouting water out of its mouth…

The bunch goodies I bought for Lil Missy from F Baby @ Marina Square since the hotel I am staying at is linked to the Marina Square. I absolutely ADOOOREEE the shoes.

I thought I should add-on to the things I love about Ashley since the last time I listed them down when she was merely 1 month old….so here goes…

11 things I love about Ashley :

1. I love it when she stands up while in her cot, stretch both her hands out to me and nuzzle her face from left to right on my tummy when I am standing by the cot

2. I love it when she giggles and laugh when we amuse her

3. I love it when she shake her leg to and fro while watching her own dvd

4. I love it when she grimace when I feed her something new

5. I love it whe she drinks her milk at lightning speed. She’d gobble all 8oz of milk at one shot during milk time.

6. I love it when she babbles

7. I love it when she wave at us from her cot when we are outside of the house

8. I love it when she scrunges her nose when she laughs/giggle

9. I love it when she wakes up in the morning and entertain herself with her toy/doll on her cot-bed

10. I love it when leans out towards me when I arrive into a room

11. I love it when she hangs on to my hair with her teeny left fist while sucking on her right thumb when I carry her (especially when she is sleepy). It’s like a security thingy for her…Each time she accidentally loses her grip on my hair, she’d automaticaly reach out for my hair with her eyes closed.

The view from my hotel room at night….excellent eh?
