sugar-coated?
Posted on February 27, 2006
After reading comments after comments in this blog (thanks to all by the way…;) ), I got to thinking that perhaps I’ve sugar-coated mommyhood and “angelized” (if the word even exists!) Ashley! No doubt that she is generally a good baby but the both of us have……what shall I say….our thorn-in-our-asses moments….
So here’s a combined list of thorn-in-the-ass moments :
1. I hate doing housework.
People think that I am a super mom being a full-time working mom, plus having to juggle with household chores plus take care of Ashley without a maid. Hubs share the load of household chores and take turns to look after Ashley but hey…not having a maid is not easy - but then again we are still struggling with the pros and cons of hiring a maid and that’s a different story altogether…so..
2. When it’s only Ashley and me at home, she wouldn’t let me out of her sight. She’d cry like it’s the end of the world if I were to step into the loo or kitchen for a wee bit. And might I add that she’d look soooo pitiful at it…
3. When I change Ashley’s diaper, she’d squirm and wiggle and at times, I’d get sooo irritated especially if I’m hot or late. I’d always have to find new ways to distract her while I’m changing her diaper. I’ve given her the following to distract her :
- drapolene tube
- wet wipes packet
- her hair brush
- daddy’s handphone (hehehehhe)
- astro remote control!
- ribbon
- teddy bear
- teething rattle
- milk bottle
- a piece of her clothing
- empty mineral water bottle
- cot mobile don’t work anymore…as in it does not distract her
I constantly have to find new things to give to her to distract her so that she’d keep still while I speedily change her diaper…*SIGH*.
Anyhow, we are not one to dwell on the negative side of things…as such..I would not go on and on with my list
However, I’d just like to point out that it’s not always a bed of roses - mommyhood and our lil missy…but I must say that the positive side of having a baby and mommyhood usually make the thorn-in-the-ass moments miniscule and too overated to dwell on - so you won’t find much of the thorn-in-the-ass moments on this blog unless ABSOLUTELY necessary ![]()

As I type this, my lil “angel” is currently sitting in her high chair, next to me, having a go at her Heinz Teething Rusk and making a mess of herself while she is at it! *muah* She IS a good baby!

we did it!

Gooooooood MORNINGGGG Ashley!!!! (picture taken on 24 Feb 06)
I contemplated for the longest time to go to the hairdressers to get my hair highlighted and trimmed and I finally did it on friday - with Ashley! I didn’t want to leave her at my MIL’s cause obviously I wanted her to be with me (yes I am one helluva possesive momma!) So I bit the bullet and headed to the hair salon with lil missy in tow! We were at the hair salon for not more than 3 hours and Ashley was either being entertained by one of the staff or was entertaining herself. *phew*.

now you don’t!!!
she literally gobbled all her food down! before I could scoop her porridge, her mouth is already open, waiting for me to feed her!
Never did I expect that when I become a mommy that I will be so obsessed with poo….the normal conversation between my parents (if they are here in KL babysitting Ashley) or my MIL would be along the lines of…
..slept for xx hours…..
…drank/ate at xx time…
…oh she pooed once/twice/non today….
Eversince she was constipated once last month, I’ve been even more obsessed with whether she has pooed for the day or not…we’ve been giving her lots of fruits and veges eversince which guranteed a poo a day…
Today is the 2nd day which she hasn’t pooed and it is absolutely driving me up the wall. I hope she doesn’t have to go through being constipated again because it is absolutely heartbreaking to see her suffer like that. So..I’m still keeping my fingers crossed and hope that she’d reward us with her smelly poo tonight! hahahaha…

I finally managed to scramble for some string and tied a couple Ashley’s toys onto her high chair so that we don’t have to keep breaking our backs each time she drops them on the floor!

Ashley’s chubby toes…check out the toe nails…they’re awful looking! hehehehhee…
This is Ashley watching the Baby Einstein Video in the morning…she’s getting more and more responsive to the video….

lovin’ every second of it
Posted on February 23, 2006

Gooood Morning Ashley! Lil Missy’s mission this morning was to bring the pouch down….

Trying to bite the velcro strap off…

After her stunt, she happily sat down and played with her little book….

Ashley’s couldron this morning……

After cooking the porridge…I blended it…

and ta dah! goblin food is ready! and now you see it…..
Yesterday afternoon, after running an errand, we decided to pay Yu Ling and Baby Nicole (not cousin Nicole…) a visit. The last time we visited them was when Baby Nicole was only 3 weeks old.

Ashley with Baby Nicole…Baby Nicole is 6 months old and she has the longest eye lashes I have everrrrr seen! Check out the hand action. I love the way Baby Nicole is hanging on to Ashley’s hand - as though hanging on to a big sister’s hand.
I’m loving every second of this SAHM thingy…(excluding the crummy household chores!)

Ashley’s Couldron
Posted on February 22, 2006

Ashley’s couldron filled with goblin food! (porridge with carrots, spinach & fish)
First of all, I must jump and and scream in glee cause I’m on leave from today till the end of the week! So SAHM for the rest of the week.
Second of all….I wouldn’t jump that high and scream too loud in glee cause my parents are currently in mid air on their way back to KK. Udis, their hired help has also left for KK which leaves me to do all the household chores again (SIGH). No more help in preparing Ashley’s stuff, no more help with the laundry and the rest of the household chores! (BIG SIGH)…
So believe it or not, today’s the first time that I’m preparing Ashley’s porridge for lunch! tsk tsk tsk….

Ashley’s always got the argh!-what-did-mommy-feed-me look when I give her the first spoon of something new of the day. She has been eating pureed papaya for sometime now but each time we give her the first spoon of pureed papaya for the day, she’d give us that look as though she had never tasted it before in her life. After the first spoon, she’d happily gobble the remaining down.
GOOOOOOOOOOOODDD MORNINGGGGGG ASHLEY!!!!!!!!

home sweet home

After 2 weeks of living out of a suit case and coming back to an empty hotel room….it feels damn good to be home again. When I arrived home on friday, Ashley stared at me while I was making my way in from the gate into the house. She had the Is-that-really-mommy? look. Thankfully, she was MORE than eager for me to swoop her up into my arms
and JUST to test whether she’d prefer me to anyone else (heheheh), I went up to my mom and offered Ashley to be carried by my mom. Ashley then turned her back on grandma and from that moment, I knew that Ashley knows who her mommy is!!

yipee! in half an hour….I’d be on the plane heading back home.
Finally!
I’m currently at the boarding gate and it’s so cool that they have internet access over here…I can’t wait to see lil missy’s reaction when I get back home…wonder whether she’d :
1. just stare at me?
2. whether she’d stretch both her hands out to signal me to carry her….?
3. smile/laugh? and stretch BOTH her hands out to signal me to carry her?
4. or CRY!
5. or turn away from me
We’ll see….

yipee…4 down, 1 day to go!
Posted on February 16, 2006

I thought that since I’ve been unable to snap “Good Morning” pictures of Ashley this week that I should at least post this “Good Morning” photo of her instead - taken a month ago when she was 7 months old then. I’m glad that tomorrow’s the day that I will be able to see those chubby chub cheeks of hers again! (and of course not forgetting Hubs as well….in case he is reading this…heheheh)

I bought this set of hair clips from Tangs. I can’t wait to put it on Ashley! heheheh…although I dunno whether she’d actually remove it and put her in her mouth though….Hmmmmm…

I used to LOVVVVVEEEE Hello Kitty when I was a kid. I’ve sorta re-lived it when I saw this kiddie bowl @ Takashimaya and decided to get it for Ashley to be used when we feed her her goblin food.
Alrighty….this’ll be the last countdown post from me …..I’m actually planning to take some time off next week to spend time with the lil missy.

I love the countdown…
This video was taken on 2 Feb 06. Grandpa was amusing Ashley…and in turn, Ashley amused us by laughin and giggling….I love this video.
My mom reckons that each time I call home, Ashley knows that it’s me on the phone even though I’m not on speaker. Ashley’s prolly more interested in the phone itself than anything else really. When they place me on speaker mode and pass the phone to her, she’d hold the phone with both hands and press the buttons. I’d speak to her over the phone as though I am speaking to her face to face and I keep reminding her that I will be back on Friday..not that she’d understand any bit of it but my mom reckons it’s good for her spirit or whatever nought…

When you’re in Singapore, and have a kid, and use Avent stuff, never leave Singapore without an Avent item. I basically cleared the rack at Tangs and bought 9 packs of Avent Fast Flow teats. 5 packs’ for Twin and the rest are for Ashley. What a steal yea!? It costs S$5.15 per pack..and on top of that, there is a 20% discount. At KL, it costs RM20 odd per pack!

With the advise of Pearlvanoyster, I decided to buy a bottle of J&J anti-mozzie lotion to try it out on Ashley….if it works, I’ll stock up during my next trip to Singapore since they don’t sell this at Malaysia!

This was my Valentine’s dinner last night. No candlelight dinner or whatsoever. Just plain room-service dinner at the hotel. It was horrid! That was the extent I went with my dinner. Marriot’s great in terms of location and service but the food really sucks! The night before, I had Penne Aribiatta at the hotel and it’s a far far cry from Pregos (At Raffles Hotel or is it Stamford Hotel? The one connected to City Hall)
So tonight, I decided to be smart and ordered Pho Bo from the Tang’s Market. It’s nothing to shout about but it’s definitely better than dinner at the hotel!
All righty - gotta start working on my damn assignment to be presented tomorrow during my training session.

Geess..I’ve lost the drive to shop here in Singapore. I’m just toooo lazy. Weird.
Anyways, besides the fact that I am spending Valentine’s Day away from hubs and Ashley (not that we celebrate Valentine’s Day anyway…), my mom told me, over the phone that Ashley says “nen-nen“when she wants to drink milk. I dunno whether my mom is hearing things but I’ll find out soon enough in 3 days time when I get back…..to add to another milestone that I’ve missed, Ashley has now started to clap her hands. (*sigh*)

Twin with Ashley and Darien in her arms.
Twin and family paid us a visit last saturday.

Just said “Good Night” to Ashley over the phone.
This trip’s no fun.
Homework and assignment to complete after the training.
It’s ONLY Monday.
My feet hurt when I was window shopping today at Orchard. Was wearing a pair of pumps which I had for months which never gave me any problems. But you really put your shoes to the test when you’re shopping/window shopping at Singapore.
