coming to 5 months

coming 2nd nov, ashley’ll be 5 months old..

1. she has graduated to 6oz of milk per feed…drinks 4 times a day

2. she has finally graduated to a diaper size M as of today after finished using all the size S diapers which we have stocked for her…..size M looks so much MORE comfy for her! The size S ones were riding low on her…like the hipster look…

3. she is so much more alert now and can recognize mummy and daddy and of course has a preference for us! heheheheheh

4. she’ll reach out and grab stuff that we dangle in front of her….her natural reaction would be to reach out, grab and slowly steer it into her mouth!

5. she loves to try to sit up

(oooo as I write this..I can hear all the fire works firing away…because of deepavali)

6. she babbles more and more now…which are sweet sweet sound to the ears!

7. and knows how to cry out for attention!…and as soon as we go to her..she’d cry and laugh at the same time! cheeky little one she is…

trying to feed ashley solids was such a different experience as compared to just feeding her milk.

1. as i tried to feed her (milna rusk rice cereal), she tried to grab the spoon while it descended into her mouth….so i fed her, took the spoon out of her mouth and shoved her thumb into her mouth. i read somewhere that you should also give her a spoon to hold on to so that she wont try to grab the spoon you’re trying to feed her with…so i followed that advice and let her hold onto a spoon in one hand…

2. then i scooped a second serving of rice cereal onto the spoon and tried to feed her again…..i placed the spoon in front of her mouth and said, “Mum mum”…then she took her thunb out of her mouth (still with a spooon in the other hand), reached out to grab my spoon..and then i fed her with the cereal..this time, she held the spoon in her mouth and started sucking on the spoon! then i took the spoon out of her mouth and she quickly shoved her thumb right back into her mouth….

3. she didn’t exactly swallow all the cereal so some were spilling out of her mouth…so it was a bit messy…

looks like she prefered her thumb more to the cereal! anyways, after 5 - 6 spoons of cereal, i finally gave her her milk and she drank away…..will try again with half a rusk tomorrow.

so freaking tired I could crash in bed for the next 1 week!

i’m sooooooo glad it’s the weekend and that i’ll have the whole of next week off (bcoz of the Deepavali and Hari Raya holidays) ! yay! anyways, last monday….our client dropped us a bombshell tender which we had to respond to and submit by tomorrow. like many others, i will be taking the whole of next week off. therefore, had to rush rush rush like a mad woman and even worked till the whole of yesterday to finish it and only managed to sleep for 4 hours a night during the weekday!! it’s so crap having to work on saturdays and I had to bring ashley into the office as well cause hubby works half days on saturdays. what madness. thankfully..ashley was very contented being on her own with her toys sitting in her stroller *phew*

so my head’s spinning..and i’ve been sneezing and sneezing and sneezing the living day lights out of me…i hope i’m not coming down with a flu..cause then i’d to distance myself from ashley and I oh-so dont wanna do that!

yesterday was daddy’s first time giving ashley a bath! i think the little one actually enjoyed it! she was fussing around nor did she cry..so we took that as a “pass” for daddy! *THUMBS UP*

a friend informed us of a toys warehouse sale and we decided to check it out this afternoon…managed to buy 4 boxes of play doh for RM35 only…good to give away as xmas pressies (heheheheh) and also bought some baby food - 2 boxes of Milna rice cereals and 3 boxes of baby biscuits for RM20 altogether. thankfully…..this warehouse sale was not as CRAZY as the previous ones i’ve been *phew*!

Ashley’s kung-fu kick! (23 oct 05)

Ashley surprised us yesterday when she sucked 2 fingers at one go while seated in the car seat. First she sucked on both her third and fourth fingers…so she looked as though she was giving us the “hang loose” sign. Then she proceeded to suck her index finger and third finger at the same time!

Last night as I was feeding her, Ashley was a bit playful. As usual, when I am about to put the teat into her mouth, she’d beat me to it and quickly shove her thumb into her mouth and suck on it….I’d have to wrestle her thumb out and quickly insert the teat into her mouth. Once in, she’d start drinking PLUS she’d still try to force her thumb into her mouth from the side……after awhile, I noticed that she had her thumb in one corner of her mouth and the teat on the other corner of her mouth. She looked like the Joker in Batman cause both the teat and her thumb had stretched her mouth wide open forming a big joker-like smile!

Mommy has been so so so busy!! ARGH!

Anyways…updates :

1. Ashley has started to babble continously for like 1 hour since sunday. We were out at the mall and shewas going on and on and on and on….We attended a wedding dinner on the same night and she was babbling continously until she got so tired she slept!

She sounded something like this :
ooooo wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
“squeeeeeelllll”
wowwwww….ahhhhhhhH!

2. She loves to sit up - supported

3. When i snuggle to kiss her on her belly..she’d giggle and laugh uncontrollably - so cute!

went shopping at anakku @ the curve yesterday to get some baby necessities (baby wipes etc) for ashley….as usual..there were sales going on and there was a 70% rack selling toddlers clothes….so this kiasu mommy bought 7 pieces of 1-year old clothes for RM49 only..! and they’re nice too!

believe it or not but i haven’t cut ashley’s toe nails before since she was born! they seem to grow a bit and because the toe nails are so soft..the long bits would naturally and miraculously peel off. as for her fingernails..that’s another story..I have to cut it every couple of days as they grow real fast! and if i don’t cut them..she’d definitely have a scratch or two on her face! poor baby..also this morning..I was playing with ashley and she grabbed my cheeks and OUCH! her nails were sooooo sharp! - yet anothe reminder to cut those nails!

Ashley has been sleeping less and less during the day these days - dunno why…maybe it’s because it’s too noisy during the day…or too much activities going on….but by evening, she’s sooo knackered she’d crashed for a couple of hours before her last feed. Anyhow, she’d still sleep throughout the night (yay!) and still drinks healthily..which is good.

Ashley has always been trying to push herself up when we lay her down in her stroller or when she is lying down on the bed. She doesn’t know how to roll over yet but she’s already beginning to want to sit up…! so sometimes, while I am sitting on the bed with my legs stretched out, I’d let her sit up between my legs and support her on both sides using my knees. She enjoys it and even want to stand up….! If I stop supporting her …her body would slowly bend forward and she’d fall on her face on the bed.
