Ashley has finally discovered her right thumb! All this while..she has been sucking on either her right index finger or her left thumb. It’s funny how she sucks her right index finger and sometimes choke on it….tsk tsk tsk…

Heartbreaker

Yesterday evening, when i picked Ashley up from MIL’s house, my MIL said..

MIL : Ashley does not recognize my voice anymore!!!!… (looking a bit upset….)

(because my parents were taking care of ashley for the past 3 weeks)

Me : How do you know that??

MIL : Cause when I tried to soothe her like this (and she made the “Aw Aw Aw” sound) she looked at me in a funny way.

(basically ashley looked at her quizzically and probably thought who the heck was carrying her!…)

Anyway, I reassured my MIL that Ashley will get used to her since she will be taking care of her until my parents’ next trip here in 2 months time for my sis’s wedding.

I do hope that there won’t come a time when I will have to endure Ashley’s crying cause she doesn’t want to leave MIL’s house….Ashley’s 4-year-old cousin, Bridget, has been looked after by my MIL since she was a baby…and she got soooo attached to MIL that when it was time for her to go home, she’d cry and cry and cry and beg her daddy not to take her home….she’d say, “I don’t want to go hommmmmmmmmmmmeee..I want to stay with ma maaaaaaaaaaaa..” gawddd!! I don’t think I will be able to withstand it if Ashley did the same thing when she is older…imagine? your very own kid…don’t want to go home and would rather stay with her grandma? I’d be sooooo heartbroken! I guess in a way, my MIL was heartbroken that Ashley couldn’t recognize her yesterday…..

so hubby and i went shopping at giant and as usual…we never miss the diaper section….as usual…we’d inspect the mamy poko price and voila! they had mamy pokos in the old packaging and it’s way cheaper than elsewhere! They were selling a pack of 52 (size s) for RM33+ whereas places like cold storage and tesco were selling a pack of 48 for RM39! so this kiasu mommy grabbed 2 jumbo packs of size s and 1 jumbo pack of size m diapers. hehehehe….

while at the cashier, we realised that ashley’s stuff contributed a whooping 60% of the entire shopping bill….this is also what they mean when they say your life changes with the arrival of a baby…

1. No more spontaneous trips to the pubs to catch up with friends
2. No more getting ready in 15 mins before heading out of the house
3. No more carrying handbags when out with baby - I’d usually dump my wallet, keys and phone in ashley’s diaper bag
4. No more heels when going out during the weekends..
5. No more spontaneous holidays - need to plan ahead
6. There is no meaning to “travelling light” - it is impossible…
7. No more going to the movies…
8. No more shopping trips out with girl friends…
9. No more workouts at the gym - which reminds me..I gotta quit from fitness first! I have been paying them every month and have not stepped foot in the gym ever since i got pregnant!!!???!! but on second thoughts..perhaps should start going to the gym to firm things up (if you know what i mean ..hahahah)

Not that I am complaining. I love being a mommy! and I love the changes which have occurred since the arrival of baby ashley. She’s a bundle of joy!

coping with hair loss

I’ve never actually got round to read about hair loss after delivery (ignorant me!!) but I did hear from people that mommies will lose their hair after giving birth. The thing is, I thought we’d be losing our hair in the first month after delivery and not 3 months later!!…There I was ..very happy that I wasn’t like other mommies..losing their hair and all when suddenly…kaboom! When I got back from our scuba diving trip recently, my hair started dropping more than usual. At first I thought that it was due to the sea water etc…but then it continued dropping and dropping and dropping…and then my mum mentioned that mommies’ hair would usually drop when the babies lose their hair! It’s quite alarming really..this afternoon, while at work, while I was on the phone…I had one hand on the phone and I had the other hand going through my hair and by the time I was through it, there were at least a dozen strands of hair in my hand! ARGH! Only consolation is…luckily I have thick hair..!!

today, ashley and i sent my parents off at the kl sentral. 3 weeks have gone by sooo quickly! so it’s back to the old routine again for us…doing the housework….tending to ashley….dropping ashley off at MIL’s place and picking her up after…eating “ta-paued” dinners from MIL’s…gotta wake up earlier in the mornings….*SIGH*…we had it good for the past 3 weeks…

anyway…after dropping my parents off at kl sentral, ashley and i met up with my sis, my aunt and uncle at klcc. annddd..might i add that it was our first time using the baby changing facilities at the ladies toilet…not bad….very clean! anyways, while i was changing ashley’s smelly diaper….the toilet cleaner stood by and admired her…and ALTHOUGH ashley was wearing a denim dress….the cleaner asked ” perempuan ke atau lelaki?? ” duhhh???? “perempuan la….” with a tone stating the obvious..then after awhile…she said ” ohhh perempuan…pakai dress”..

today was a full day…after klcc, ashley and i visited yu ling and baby nicole…
