Last night, I had to bring work home (I know…it SUCKS totally)..and while I was crunching some numbers, Ashley was wailing at the top of her lungs….why? she was hungry and sleepy..yea..what a combo!…daddy had to soothe her…It’s amazing how, each day, our communication between us and Ashley gets better…!!

I was reading babycenter and it says somewhere that a baby needs 120ml (4oz) of milk per kg of body weight per day….so Phew! Ashley drinks 4 times a day at 5oz each….and she’s about 5.65kg 2 weeks ago..

yay! It’s a holiday tomorrow…MERDEKA!

Looonng weekend

What a long weekend…I had to work through the weekend and thank goodness Ashley was quite understanding….she’d either sleep…or she’d lay awake in her cot, playing by herself…so I did pretty much get my work done over the weekend.

All work and no play makes no sense eh? We went to Aquaria yesterday evening..we saw more stuff in the aquarium then when we went scuba diving!!! Ashley was amused by all the colours and the movements of the fish when we walked through the through the aquarium.

12 weeks old!

Ashley’s 12 weeks old today!!!!! Ashley can now :
1. Coo
2. Lift her head up and move her head side to side when she is lying down on her front
3. Support her head when we carry her vertically
4. Laugh and smile
5. Suck her index finger (not thumb….)
6. Sleep throughout the night without waking up for midnight feeds
7. Poo poo when encouraged to by saying to her “mm mmmmmm mm mmmmm”
8. Turn her head and watch the tele!!!
9. Drink 5oz of milk in 10 minutes!

this evening, while ashley was sitting happily in her baby bouncer, she suddenly started to cry…and so i looked at her and asked her why she was crying and spoke to her to soothe her..and my little girl responded by cooing with a smile..it’s as though she understood what i was saying and each time i spoke to her..it felt really good!

I must say that we are lucky that Ashley has been sleeping through the night since her 2nd month. The first time she slept through the night, both Keet and I thought - THAT’S IT…poor baby must have been crying in the middle of the night and we didn’t even hear her…then she started sleeping throughout the night from then on - it is soooo much easier that way…at least we can sleep peacefully throughout the night…YAY!!!!!!

funny thing. it’s the mega sale in malaysia until sept 05 and a couple of weeks ago, there was a promotion on mamy poko diapers at jaya jusco. for jusco card members, it was a couple of ringgit cheaper than the usual retail price for a jumbo pack - it was a good deal i must admit…and we saw sooooo many people buying it in BULKS. however, us being “heroes”…we decided to forgo it since we had some “stock” at home….and thought that since the mega sale was going to go on for quite sometime, we could come back and get somemore when we are about to run out of it. well..last weekend, all the “S” sizes were all OUT! gosh!…so we decided to go to tesco to buy them…they had the correct size BUT looks like the price for the mamy poko diapers have increased! dunno why…it used to be RM32+ for 52 diapers…it’s now RM37+ for 48 diapers only…! annnyway…just ranting about….

have heard from a couple of people that you could actually recycle the mamy poko diaper to save money….welll….you can only recycle it if baby pees in it..not poo. this would prolly be useful for people who let their babies use the nappy……here’s how they do it…check out this link what she didn’t mention was what to do after drying the diaper over the clothes line. according to a friend of mine, you’re then supposed to fold the nappy so that it can be fitted between the diaper lining….(I think)..therefore you can use a nappy like a diaper! well i think that’s how it’s done cause we don’t do this for ashley. she’s 100% on diapers…nappies are toooo troublesome!! (for us anyways…) unnnnnleeesss I am a stay-home mom…then that would be a different storyyyy…..would it? hehehe…prolly not….DIAPERS ALL THE WAYYYY!

over the weekend, when i caught up with some girlfriends over mei ping’s birthday dinner, we started talking about buying and selling stuff on ebay. get this - fionna bought 7 cheong sams at USD 0.01 EACH! but with the postage and insurance and stuff..it came up to RM200 for 7 pieces of cheong sam! not a bad deal huh? soooo….i started to venture into ebay (the malaysian ebay site) and checked out some baby carriers cum car seat…..i thought perhaps it would be a good idea to have a second car seat so that we can have one in each car. (it’s all about making life easier these days….) i placed a bid for a CAM car seat for RM175.50 on ebay - and I won the bid. YAY!

Weight : 5.65kg (gained 300g since 7 aug 05)

this was taken this morning..she was pretty amused when daddy was entertaining her when she woke up. can’t believe it..she is now 80 days old!!!! am really enjoying the baby moments…other parents have advised us to enjoy those baby moments and we really are doing just that!

it’s funny how when we are out at the malls..and when a parent is pushing a stroller, i’d automatically look at the baby in the stroller and try to guess the baby’s age. i’d be even more amused when i see a baby younger and visibly smaller than ashley.
